The WAP7 is completely driven by computers and microelectronics. It has a CSC switch ( Constant Speed Control ). When the LP presses the button at a particular selected speed the green light will glow and the computer will maintain a constant selected speed +/- 2%. We can see the green light ON in front of the LP. As soon as the LP alters the throttle position it will switch off automatically . You can see this happen at 1:36 when the LP throttles back on the TE/BE handle with black knob on it with his right hand. It will be off till LP selects CSC button again. You can see him switch on the CSC control at 4:01. The cab controls are distributed as left hand operations and right hand operations.

To be an Indian train driver one needs to have nerves of steel and no fear of life. It's only matter of time suddenly the driver will see another stationery or oncoming train on his track because some lazy idiot forgot to switch the lines OR made the wrong switch. If this is not the case then some stray cattle, dog, goat and even a human will run under his train....with poor pay, zero comfort and no support hats off to these brave men and women.

People comment govt job easy. See how LP forced to honk for some nonsense people making vagaries near tracks apart from animals. If readers scroll question answers they become thorough with train running procedure.

They have to honk or every 1min or the train will apply emergency brakes after 16sec of warning siren and lights in the cab , if no response is recieved the train will stop in the middle of the tracks .. and continue automatic honking and alert the signler... , This event of emergency brake will also be recorded on train logs and the the driver will be reviewed by authorities!

Just cannot understand, what prevents Indian Railways from having proper acoustic insulation and air-conditioning in the cabs. The original Swiss designs surely would have them integrated. The practice of making loco pilots operate in dusty,noisy and hot cabs is retrograde and ridiculous.
