This is a great initiative, the MTTD is doing great work with regards to the war against indiscipline. I think because of the vast indiscipline on the road, lots of drivers are found wanting. It is the duty of the police/MTTD to improvise and find ways of minimizing wastage of time of these drivers. You can't keep someone's car for long in the name of mere traffic indiscipline. Huge fines should be resorted or better still other adjudicating bodies should handle such matters.

Driving into oncoming traffic is very dangerous and is such a flounting of traffic regulations. The time spent with the police after being arrested could have been better spent obeying traffic regulations and getting to one's destination on time.

If they want to introduce spot fines, they need to use technology. It cannot be a cash transaction.

There’s no need to impound vehicles after their owners have been processed for court. Give them their court dates and allow them to go about their normal duties
@paakwegyir31652 жыл бұрын
It should be spot fines and asked to appear in court later depending on the offence if its severe.. The spot fines are not cash or momo. You don't pay anything to anyone. You are given a chit which show the amount and offence. The chit also shows the police division number,reference number and the name and number of the officer who issued the fine.. Also it will indicate at the back where to pay the fine. Eg Ghana commercial bank.. You are given 1 week to pay after 24 hours after the fine has been given you... This is to allow the clerical work to be done.. If the police have better equipment it can enter your details on a handheld computer on the spot and print out your chit.. But we all know they are under resourced.. So chits for now..If you don't pay in a week your fine goes up by 50%..When you have paid you send a reference number to a police website which deals with fines and penalties.. You enter your reference number of the penalty fine and proceed to enter your car registration number.. It will come up with your name and address and your offence and how much you were fined.. You check and make sure all the information is correct and complete the procedure by entering the payment reference number.. .The police needs to have access to dvla database for both car and drivers licence.. A point system should be introduced.. Eg everyone has zero points on licence which means a clean driver.. If you commit serious driving offence or you are persistent offender you get points on your licence... 3 points for any serious offence.. Once you get to 6 points you are on the border.. Anymore points you will be banned for a year.. It will take a year for you to get a reduced point of 3... There are no harsh punishment for driving offences That's why ghanaians take things for granted and not serious about driving..
@nanakumah85402 жыл бұрын
Lol. So you think no one in the police or government knows what you have written plenty ?😂; they know but as you said they are under resourced whilst our address and tracing system is bad . It’s also easy to propose a solution from afar ; like if it was easy successive governments would have done that . It’s not easy to implement a change process ; it takes time and cash bro 😎
@paakwegyir31652 жыл бұрын
The impound is and should be for those who are persistent offenders.. And those who have absconded and being look for by the police.. People need to go about their daily lives and impounding for minor traffic offence is just a waste of time both to the police and the public.. Police should spend their time dealing with serious issues and persistent offenders.. Persistent offenders in this case are those who have been arrested and fined more than 3 times.. .Also impounded cars must mostly be a car issue not a driver issue depending on the offence.. If the car has no insurance or road tax or import duty or its a danger to be on the road then its impounded.. The police must have a better system to reduce unnecessary work and waste of precious time..

No spot fines. These same people will turnaround and call it a bribe. Get convicted for a misdemeanor and pay the fine then you can have your car back. It's simple.

Well spot fines don't necessarily mean you pay your fine to the arresting police officer or immediately. Spot fines could be paid at a later date as legally established.

You overtake only on two situations.. On a dual carriage way and if the road ahead of you is clear of oncoming vehicle.. However it does not mean that you can overtake anytime you are in these situations.. Remember that people are also using the road. Motorbikes and cyclist... If you overtake a car on a 50km limit road when everyone is doing 50km you are going beyond the speed limit by overtaking which is an offence.. You may be overtaking on a road with thick lines in the middle which mean you are not allowed to overtake. Stay in lane when there's thick line even if the car in front is slow.. When there's rush hour and cars are moving slow. There could be and accident ahead that's why the traffic is slow so you don't just overtake...Again there could be police ahead which in this case happened to be and what happened? He was arrested. So Bro take your time to drive and obey and observe the rules.. We are in control of a heavy machine.. See how heavy it is when you are asked to push it. How much more will it be when it's moving..? Drive safe ✌🏾👌🏾.

@cnsmiles2 жыл бұрын
Spot fines. Very simple. The police department can collaborate with the momo money operators where offenders should only pay their fines through a designated app that automatically deducts the fine amount from the offender if he chooses to not appear in court. No spot cash payments. If the payment cannot be processed due to lack of funds, the telcos should be given a formal police issued notice to disable the sim until the fine plus penalty is paid. They can also utilize the GPS to track and arrest the offender if all attempts to have the fine paid have failed. This driving record should also be made available to insurance carriers to assess the liability premium for drivers further incentivizing drivers to drive safely. Not sure if this is being used, but we need to incorporate a quota system. Most jurisdictions in the US/UK require traffic police to have processed a minimal amount of traffic tickets.

They will pay.. You will enforce it.. You are given time to pay.. Eg a week. You details are taken.. If you fail to pay they will find you one day.. You will go to court and your car impounded.. There are police division who deal with absconding drivers.. Details are sent to other divisions and other regions to look out for you.. Your life will be made miserable.. A police electronic noticeboard is displayed at various Places of the city with your registration number that you are being looked for...you can't run away unless you leave the country.. Or decide not to drive anymore. The police must have access to the dvla database. So once you give them your name and date of birth or your licence number they can find you on the dvla system..

It's turning out you are the ignorant one here. Which countries traffic laws are you referring to?. You think the police don't know what they are doing? The traffic laws aren't bye- laws. Once you infringe any traffic regulation, the law requires that the officer makes an arrest. At this stage you just a suspect. You break the law and now turnaround to make suggestions as to how you think you should be handled, really. In the US, the police will immediately arrest and put cuffs on you for offending traffic laws. Your vehicle will be towed at your expense.
