Thought about this movie after I was pulled to a grave in Cameron, SC.. Loved this Series. Name of the grave was Napoleon. St. John the Baptist Church and Cemetery.

I read this book many years ago and fell in love with it. The BBC production starring Anthony Hopkins as Pierre is a fitting tribute to Tolstoy's masterpiece. I have yet to watch this version because I have heard so many negative reviews. The lockdown may break me to finally give in and watch it.

SuzanneGabrielle I only just finished this version, which is also my first version of this piece (well technically my second-I came from the musical). I can recognize some flaws in execution and overrushed pacing but it definitely made me want to watch all of the other versions, and also read the novel! Have you watched it? As a person who has read the book and experienced other adaptations, what are your thoughts on this one?

@@yoyoeldas I did watch it and thought it was excellent. James Norton and Lily James did a wonderful job as the star-crossed lovers. I do, however, understand the outrage over the portrayal of Helene and Anatole's sibling relationship. Tolstoy only hints at it, but the perceived need of modern audiences for more a graphic interpretation was met. I plan to rewatch the BBC version with Anthony Hopkins over the holiday. The production values will not be as beautiful, but I would like to see if the acting was as superb as I remember it to be.

By the time this scene happens she's about 18-19 I believe. In the beginning of the book she's 13, she meets Andrei about 4 years later when shes 17, and then this is roughly 1-2 years after they get engaged/everything gets messed up. So she's prolly 18 or 19.

I'd say 19 as well. She marries Pierre in 1813, which is a year after the events in the video and Natasha is like 28 in the Epilogue which is set in 1820. So yeah, 18 or 19 is a good guess
