This is the last video of the second flight test.
I am pleased to say that the mods to the radiators have paid off. During the whole flight, the temps never went above 200 degrees on the water. Stayed @195 degrees. Oil temp was at 210 when I shut down. So, for now it looks promising.
I only used the flaps on the landing, and they seemed to work fine. I only put them down @25 degrees. Overall, the flight was un-eventful just like the first one. Engine seems to run very well. I may add a little pitch to the prop before the next flight as well. I will do a couple more flights with the gear down, then I will try putting them up, without the gear doors on. I will remove them for the first gear up test, just to be safe.

Two cents here! That gap in the trailing edge of the canopy must create drag and turbulence over the control surfaces in the tail. Glad to see you’re flying now!

G'day Don, Absolutely magnificent ! The new Flap-actuating Servo seems to be doing it's job a lot more authoritatively than the earlier one... I love the way that, as you unfold yourself and emerge from the Cockpit - it's like Doctor Who and his Crew all coming out of the Tardis, which looks far too small to possibly contain all that Humanity...! Great stuff..., and that "Tiger Country" surrounding the Aerodrome certainly must be a wonderful motivational factor nudging all who operate from there to become really intimate friends with their Powerplants...(!). By this stage, the people at W.A.R. must be pretty much ecstatic...; I'd bet that your Aeroplane is now the Poster-Child of their Corsair Diaspora (?) ! Well done. Keep on keeping on. Stay safe. ;-p Ciao !

Don, Congratulations on your 2nd successful flight. Thanks also for the filming done by your nieces, we loved their side commentary. Tell them they did fine. Its great to see the little corsair in a side view from the ground. BEAUTIFUL WHEEL LANDING!!!! Boy!, that little thing can sure land hot!!! After the debrief from your first flight, you expressed concern about the paint discoloration on the Ross re-drive. I`m wondering if this was due to scorching, maybe from internal oil temperature or heat generated by the planetary set. However, If the oil temp is no more than 210 , I wouldn`t think this could be. Anyway, congratulations on all your hard work and wishes for continued success. I look forward to more........Jim

During a second look, at ~ 03:55, the canopy appears to separate (rise), maybe < an inch, from the fuselage as you enter the turn. This might be by design - or simply a result of my less-than-optimal cellphone screen view. Edit: same effect ~ 07:20 in the turn. And ~ 13:12 turning on final.

Don, she really seems to fly well. I noticed no flaps on TO but then read your note. The landing flaps affected the airflow as the camera vibration increased on deployment which means their working. So happy for you. Also glad you worked on the tail wheel 'cause it sets down rather firmly. All that ground work surely paid off. Glad the temps are OK too. Like the idea of no gear doors in the test phase. Would it help to remove the front gear door panels for any reason? (drag or airflow) Are your enjoying yourself yet or still waiting for any problems to happen? Each flight is a confidence builder. Edit..."un-eventful" is good.
@Dynodon64
@Dynodon64 Күн бұрын
Flaps aren't used for takeoff. Some planes can use 10 degrees for short field takeoffs, but not this one. Camera vibrations have more too do with engine harmonics at certain frequencies. There are no vibrations in the plane when it's flying. This flight, I was banking a lot harder feeling it out. It's getting exciting.
