This has been a brilliant series, and I'm sad to see it coming to an end!

The Fourth Age is bittersweet in so many ways. The defeat of Sauron frees the world of darkness and its servants. Yet the loss of the elves and eventually the dwarves means the loss of its magical feelings. The world becomes for me at least, a far more dreary place. It becomes more and more like the world we know today. I often think about what period and what age i would choose to live in? What race i would choose given a choice? I suspect that i would choose to be of elven kind. The wish to see the wonders of the First Age elven kingdoms. Seeing Gondolin and Doriath before they fell. See Valinor, visit Numenor before it turns to evil. Visiting Khazad-Dum at its heights. The historian in me makes me want to see it all and document as much as possible so that all that was good and fair has its memories preserved. I can but dream. ❤❤❤

What I love about the saga of Middle Earth is that it was the first book series I read that had an epilogue. It closed out everyone’s stories, not just the main character’s, with an incredibly bittersweet outcome. Gone are the Elves, to their own lands. Woodland Elves diminish and become forgotten. Dwarves become legends. The whole world moves on from that of fantasy, to one more grounded in the reality we know. The cycle of our world will always demand as such, but it still leaves us reeling from the loss, yet happy that we were able to witness such fantastic stories. Tolkien is an amazing genius of a writer to present us with such a story.

Aaaaaw! What a lovely, perfect, heartfelt ending for a brilliant series. You have a rare talent for synthesis, pulling fragments from dozens of sources into compelling narratives. Your love of Arda and skill as a storyteller combine to bring me fresh excitement about material I've known for 50 years, and awestruck wonder at details I had never noticed. Thank you very much for all you do, and remember: Your many fans are out here always, hanging on your every word.

Congratulations on finishing this series! This is easily some of the best LOTR content on YT. Are you going to consider covering Amazon LOTR when they come out? I know that’s not really your thing but I loved your video when you walked through the Wizards and Warriors videos and I thought your commentary was very fair and insightful. I know it’s not your area right now but I think you would be good at episode breakdowns and it would certainly help your channel.

I wonder what would happen to the people of Dunland in the Fourth Age. Would they be occupied by Rohan? Would they migrate north into Eregion once the Dwarves reestablished Khazad-dum? When Gondor and Rohan got around to colonizing Enedwaith I suppose there would have been a mingling of the three peoples.
@DarthGandalfYT3 жыл бұрын
I guess they would probably avoid each other for a while. The Dunlendings were technically subjects of the King of Gondor in the past, but they were still very isolationist. I think potential colonisers would steer clear of the hills, and mostly settle along the North-South Road.

Brilliant and the best look at these subjects we've had yet, so don't doubt the value of what you've done! Your presentations are on a par with GirlNext Gondor and Red Book. You three are elite and untouchable in this lore category, and each have unique ways to bring out new things, or old things in a new way if I may give my honest opinion. No cookie cutter, assembly line vids here. If more of us valued lore and tales and cheer above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. THANG YOU BERRY BUCH.

@@DarthGandalfYT Darth do you think you will ever do a detailed video of the siege and fall of gondolin? It's a saga in itself. It's houses, it's Lord's, two killed balrogs, dragons etc. Turgons stubbornness, tuor bringing ulmos warning. Idrils foresight in having the escape route built. No earendil, no meeting elwing, no Elros and Elrond etc. 👍
@DarthGandalfYT3 жыл бұрын
@@alanmike6883 Maybe, but I'd have to buy the Fall of Gondolin first because the Silmarillion version is far shorter, and very different.

@@DarthGandalfYT I've always found the fall of gondolin just like arnor fascinating. It took almost the entire of army of morgoth to take it. Few in number yet the in legacy of gondolin survived in its survivors.. Don't forget the legend of echilien and glorfindel 😊 Do you think one day, just one day a video on the relative strengths and weaknesses of each human, elven, dwarven kingdom throughout the different ages. For example I keep hearing that doraith was the strongest elven kingdom of the first age yet without the girdle of melion it was sacked not was but twice.

I think Tolkien’s overall theme from his universe is to love and enjoy the natural world for one day much that you love and enjoy will fade away. It’s a bittersweet moment seeing this series end knowing the journey (time with COVID-19) we’ve all been on since you started it. I shall end this comment with these words “A thing isn’t beautiful because it lasts.”

I have always been puzzled by the Elven Rings losing their power on the fall of Sauron. While he instructed Celebrimbor in ring making he did not participate in the making of the Three Elven Rings of Power nor infuse any of his power into them. Thus, with the destruction of the One Ring, which was designed to dominate all the Rings of Power, the Elven Rings should have been free and able to function based on whatever of his own power Celebrimbor infused within those rings. Thoughts?

thoughts : sauron foresaw the bearers as possible enemies and did some spell so that they are binded with him from the start.

The problem in the fourth age was, that the human people of the dark still were superior in number - although being seperated now and often making war with each other and are not any more united under Saurons will and rulership and led and coordinated by him.
