That enemy ship near the Bataan peninsula, is a submarine laying mines. You need to clear out that enemy minefield, with several ships that have mine sweeping capability.

As usual, a few thoughts and/or hopefully helpful informations: - Note taking/arrivals: -- Right now I don't take notes on paper or in a text file, since I check all Theatres of War every turn and use the TF-Name and Future Objective of LCUs as reminders. -- For most of the important notifications (arrivals, base expansion etc.) I either look into the Operational Report ingame or load my current turn into the WitPTracker AE (see here: www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2236936 or here: sites.google.com/site/witptracker) and then take my time to go down the list one by one. -- Once I go into the offensive I'll probably get myself a text file with the plans etc. . - Troop Transports, LCU/squadron arrivals and planning: -- Aden: Usually I have a dozen or so troop transports along with a few cargo ships at Aden at all times, because Aden is *THE* Arrival Base for LCUs and squadrons for British, Indian and Australian troops. -- Cape Town: Only four LCUs (3x AA and 1x ART) arrive here in 12/41 and later in 01/43 one British brigade. As for squadrons only No. 232(p) Sqn RAF get here on Dec 22nd. That's it, so most of the time you won't need any troop transports here unless you want to ship LCUs/squadrons from Eastern USA via Cape Town to Perth/Colombo/Cochin/Madras. -- CONUSA: I would designate either San Francisco or Los Angeles as your one port for shipping LCUs and squadrons out to everywhere but the North Pacific, because for that you have Seattle. Accordingly you won't need troop transports in any other ports in the USA (unless you want to take the route mentioned above). -- Mombasa: Beginning in 05/42 there will be a few arrivals of LCUs (10 total between 05/42 and 03/44, so anything but hectic). -- Remember that you need at least one troop transport or cargo ship per LCU. Most of the time you'll want to use two per LCU, as a safety if one gets sunk by a sub. - Resources/Supply/Fuel for Pearl Harbor and Midway get shipped out of San Francisco and for Alaska and the Aleutians those get shipped out of Prince Rupert. - SIGINT: -- It's a bit more than rumors, but sometimes just as reliable, unfortunately. These reports represent intelligence gathered via both the usual spying means along with intercepted and sometimes decoded radio traffic. -- It can give a good warning where attacks are coming ("Radio Transmissions detected in hex XXX,YYY" or "24/54th Division is planning for an attack on Rangoon") -- Sometimes it is either hilariously funny or broken ("Tokio Bay Fortress is located at Tokio" or "Heavy Volume of Radio transmissions is detected at" the base you just captured) - Spotted TFs SW of Pearl Harbor: -- I think its merely 5 submarine TFs in the same hex, since all TFs have only one ship spotted. The Kido Butai has around 20 ships and at least some of those would have been spotted, especially this close to Pearl Harbor, as Naval Search missions are more likely to detect TFs within 5 hexes of a base (see manual, p. 151). Also, if this was the KB, it would have attacked something. -- The real KB probably is on its way home somewhere NE of Midway.

I just wanted to share with you the results of my game. I did much better in the air than you did, but I somehow made a mistake with the routing of some of my ships leaving Singapore, and several transports, and my torpedo boats ended up going through the Strait of Malacca. Luckily, it was only the torpedo boats that were attacked, and I lost 3 HDML's to torpedo attacks from Betty's. This was however offset by the fact that one of my Dutch subs sank a DMS torpedo boat off Kota Bharu. I also managed to destroy 4 A6M2 Zero's, 3 in air to air, and one ops loss. We also shot down 4 Betty's, 1 Nell, 2 Glen's and a Jake. So we had Total air losses 9 Allied, to 12 Japanese. I'll take that any day.

@@strategygamingdojo5278 Actually, I set all my aircraft at higher altitudes. I felt that 15,000 was a bit too low, and I know that the Warhawks don't do so well at 20,000+, but at least they are either at the same level, or above, and at least have some advantage. Anyway, it seemed to pay off.

I notice you are deadheading transports from Sydney/Brisbane to L.A., yet don't you need supplies in Noumea and Suva?

I love watching this game be played but I have no idea how anyone can play the thing themselves. It would have been easier had you been an ACTUAL admiral in WWII controlling one of the fleets!
