Proverbs 4:14-22 Do not enter the path of the wicked, And do not walk in the way of evil. Avoid it, do not travel on it; Turn away from it and pass on. For they do not sleep unless they have done evil; And their sleep is taken away unless they make someone fall. For they eat the bread of wickedness, And drink the wine of violence. But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know what makes them stumble. My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.

From an engineering point of view such a society is like an automated engine. A very robust one designed extremely well to keep running. A huge engine the size of an entire petrol station. One with unlimited fuel, perfectly tuned and could carry on running indefinitely. Now imagine if you are an ant given the task trying to stop that engine where would you begin? if you really want to know how complex this problem is spend time getting to know the participants of such a society. Another thing that might help you understand this. Let me project the problem up a level for you. We are surely better right? Because we don't live that way. Well what if I told you something like right now the way the world is it's heading for certain destruction and the solution is the vast majority of us need to revert to a more simpler form of life without for example electricity or cars. Infact growing our own food and making our own clothes. You would think something like maybe you're right, but that's asking a bit much of me right now, and you would also think, well even if I did that, that's only 1 person. I might do it if everyone else did it. And imagine if everyone else felt the same way, waiting around for everyone else to do something that was ultimately difficult for them to do, everyone would just feel helpless. In our case we have hope that the green revolution will solve our problems or that in the future something will change and everything will be alright. In their case they have the myth that one day the government will step in and solve their problems for them. Maybe now you can understand?
