If you ever get the glitter thing, try this. Use a nylon stocking, and cut it so you have the "foot" and ankle. It'll look like a little bag. Poke it into the end of your vacuum hose and the cut end, you flip it over the opening and use an elastic band to hold it tightly. Now you have a screen bag. Turn your vacuum on and suck it all up. The glitter goes into your little bag and if you suck something up like a Lego piece or an earring, you can fish it out of the bag. If you don't have a nylon, you can use cheesecloth, even a piece of flexible scrap window screen, or a well used dryer sheet. If you can easily breathe through it, it will work. This works if you have to find a little screw for your eyeglasses, or something like a watch gear that you dropped on a carpet and can't see it. Put the screen over the hose end and attach your pipe and power head onto that. Vacuum and you'll find it, if it's there.
