The Wirblewind is great as long as ammo is managed. Though my fav would be the ZSD-63 or the Phong Khong T-34

I'd say ZSU 37 but that's literally the only SPAA I actively used against tanks. Also, pretty sure the wirbelwind kinda fell out of favor since Gaijin (finally) nerfed the HVAP rounds (48mm of pen now)

I'm getting R3 flashbacks from this thing, it can penetrate tanks from a decent distance and it's hard to kill specifically from the sheer amount of empty space

i can confirm the "hard to kill" part because i was facing one down and no matter where i shot the crew he was still alive somehow, though he was not *immune* to my artillery strike :)

My favorite is easily the Ta-Se at 1.7 in the japanese tree. It does fantastic damage to planes, but more importantly, is very fast and nimble, and with the AP belts shreds 90% of things you’ll face.

What's its armament, two 20s? At 1.7 that would definitely shred anything, especially with AP belts.

My favorite AA is actually the French AMX-13-40 DCA. It generally one shots every plane it hits and it has more than enough penetration to kill basically any tank it sees from the side or rear, sans things like the Maus

I will always love that the btr zd is the most grunt ingenuity thing possible. They took a stationary zsu and literally strapped it to the roof of a "armored" vehicle. They even have wood leg supporting the rear of the zsu

That thing is massively overpowered at the moment, it’s a more survivable r3 and I hate it. Worst thing is that it won’t be long before it gets moved down a br.

Yeah its survivability is quite surprising. I got the drop on one with an Ostwind and it still killed me. Even a P-47 can't kill it in a single strafing run. At least in my experience. I heard it's already set to go up to 4.7 though. Wouldn't be surprised if it goes up further still.

It's really not. Two guys on top are completely unprotected, no armor, mediocre speed, and if you come across anything frontally you're screwed.

@@mahieuwim that front armour has a surprising tendency to bounce or somehow eat shells, whilst the two up top are easily replaced by four extra crew in the main compartment (two machine gunners, really?), it is very spacious inside being separated into crew blob at the front and engine/fuel at the very rear (massive middle space with armour thin enough that most shells will pass through without detonation) with the rear protected by Russian fuel tanks. It’s small, fast, oddly survivable, and contains a ton of firepower (two machine guns in addition to main guns) which shred the enemy at that tier and above.

I want MORE tanks from the VDV... I want the BMD-1. Fucking hilarious they took a BMD-1 and threw a ZU-23-2 on it, and not like bolted on or in a turret, they just strapped it on. This thing is a monster when you get AP. Light vehicles get shredded with a 1 second burst.

Why not just make a turret with the AA inside? I mean that gun sure seemed effective on multiple things but no armor for the gun crew? not even cheapo bullet plates in front to stop the first few rounds of incoming fire?!
