The amount of F14s I saw today, 9 in one server and they all had phoenixes…, but I’ve been getting more kills with them, but for some reason I spawn really late, it takes longer to load into the match, I have disabled join already in progress matches and sometimes I see ally aircraft 7 miles away

Why are people celebrating this? we should be screaming from the roof tops for BR Decrompression... how are any of the 10.7-11.0s suppsoed to fight a tomcat (or infact just about anything with a PD radar - the 11.3 Phantoms are pretty crazy rn) how's anything with 30 countermeasures and short range IR missiles suppsoed to fight waves of Aim-7Fs and Phoenix's raining down on them - the only defence right now is to simply run away and hope - multipathing was annoying at the very top tier but was a necessary evil to allow non PD fighters a change to simply get into fighting range

Oh, but you don't get it. The F-14 dominating the game for 1 year in the past and being strong now is a good thing, but when other nation gets to dominate for a patch, then it's either "russian bias" or "why does the US always gets the worst variants of its own plane".

@@purgetrapscorp The balance sways back and forth... Russians dominated top tier with the ER which was an upgrade for combating aim-120s for over a year before aim-120s were added to the game. They had HMD for off bore missile slinging at top tier before everyone as well when the f-16's and mig-29s came out, and still continue to have the best Radar and IR missiles in the game. People complaining about "f-14 dominance" don't understand how easy it was to dodge these missiles... and if you die to 54's its more of a skill issue than anything. And yes, it does suck getting the worst versions of our own jets... the French have the best f-16, and japan has the best f-15...

@@aflyingcowboy31 Honestly, the AMRAAM is better than the Barak II's DERBY and while the F-16AM gets a MAW, to use it you need to give up two missile hardpoints, and it lacks a TWS system which hurts your BVR performance, and while it is lighter and more maneuverable, that doesn't mean as much when BVR is the name of the game. I am firmly of the belief that the F-16C Block 50 is the best variant of the F-16 in the game

But hey this is apparently worse. The Derby is also just as good as the AIM-120 depending on where you are firing from. This however doesn't get into the F-15 either i.e. Japan has the best F-15.

@@roebuckpayne if i see them being launched from ~15km away i can do that. But if the missile is launched at under 10km i usually dont make the turn in time and get blasted. And if its a BVR competition then the INS steers in the direction i turned into and if i dont fly perfectly cold for 20-30 sec+ i still get blasted because it regains lock from time to time and updates its ins. for me its hard to dodge them, but that is also partly my fault for not being good at dodging missiles in general

I don't think it deservs 12.3 or 12.7. At least f14A. It has very shitty rwr with small amount of counter measures, no all aspect missles, very hot engines and kinda mid airframe. AIM 54 are still too easy to outpull anyways. You don't even have to notch them

Honestly, the AIM-54A needs a Nerf. Just change the Multipathing altitude for the A-Version to 100-150 Meters and it would be fine. IRL the AIM-54A could only be launched above the sea because the analogue seeker couldn’t filter ground clutter, that was fixed with the C though.

F14 was good tbh even before the multipathing and now it's just god tier. It also helps that most people you're facing will be 11.3 premium noobs who do nothing but fly straight. I enjoy the f14b more than the f14a simply because you get much better thrust allowing you to get good speed and positioning for early game phoenix launch, ton more flares, and the aim9L while not the best are miles better than the rear-aspect missiles on the f14a and still more than capable for getting plenty of sneaky kills. I find the aim9H on the f14a to be dead weight most of the time. As far as the matchmaker they both seem to get almost the same matches, with the f14b seeing uptiers occasionally which really doesn't make much of a difference gameplay wise if all you're doing is spamming phoenixes then rtb'ing.

f-14 should be top tier only. It feels terrible killing someone that never had a chance and it feels even worse when you sit there for 10 minutes just to get picked out of the air without a chance. Both versions of the plane are bullshit coming from someone who max'd the US tree.

I cannot get a single kill with phoenixes in SB battles (SB main, don't play RB). Out of 6 launches it's lucky if I get 1 or 2. Even if I launch multiple with at the same target with intervals. I legit saw better sucess rates with Aim-7M sparrows than with Phoenixes before the Fox 3 update. How do you use phoenixes? In my experience, even before the update, people just defend them, and the phoenix is really easy to defend agaisnt.

​@@Mani_Gamer885 Use TWS mode with your radar. Realistically, don't launch further than 50km from your target, and only do this if you're very high and fast. Again, make sure you launch in TWS. For most shots with the Phoenix, shoot within 30km, also in TWS. Why TWS? It allows the missile to fly within 16km before your target knows a Phoenix has been launched on them; and during that time it is in-flight without your target knowing, the missile is picking up speed. That last 16km of its flight goes very fast, as it's well over Mach 3.5.

The f14a has a few big weaknesses like the terrible rwr, kinda weak engines and no all aspect missiles. But it is good at 11.7. Definitely does not have the equipment to be competitive above 12.0 though

The dotted line on your radar is the distance you need to guide it, once it's solid it's active and you can turn cold

i have been trying to spade the f14b to get more research progress on the f15c and it has been fun i have gotten a lot of 3 kill 4 kill and some 5 kill games in the f14b and i believe that it isnt as bad as mat makes it look like since 12.0 has a lot of downtiers (atleast at my region and the time im playing) i dont get a lot of 13.0 uptiers, like i have played enough matches since i began spading this plane and i have gotten like 2 or 3 uptiers to 13.0, 1 or 2 uptiers to 12.7, and the rest were mostly full downtiers and downtiers to 11.3. I agree with mat though, the difference between the f14a and b models are negligible enough to the point that the f14a is better, bc just like the 12.0 f14b, it get downtiers to 10.7 and uptiers to 12.7, with the less fox-3 carriers, plus f14a and b models get the aim 7f and aim 7m respectively, which are the same, and the aim 9 are not that usefull in the matches i have played anyway, i have mostly used the phonixes, and the aim 54a and c models, just like the aim 7f and aim 7m, are almost identical, which makes the f14a a little bit more enjoyfull, just like mat said.
