I’ve tried realistic before and it’s just 20 min climb, die, back to menu. Enough of that explanation though aha, my real question is - for a new player, could you do a tips and tricks video for people starting out? My reaction, as someone who plays a lot the He-162 (hey, I like playing it don't judge pls), would be: _Ah shit, here we go again-_ Cause 90% of the time it damages the engine, and if it damages the engine, you're done for If you're close enough to the af you can repair, but if it's more than 10kms away then you'll inevitably crash into the ground/get fucked by some P-51 or Spitfire The AA at the centre of the map is too OP imo I get shot while going 600 kph at 2-3 kms of altitude, come on, it's even more efficient than the airfield AA

It has poor MER for design reasons, Gaijin doesn't decide that. Gaijin does have some leeway, but it doesn't make or break a plane's MER.

I just got the 162 and the biggest issue I have with it is that I have crashed multiple times trying to take off on the short dirt runways they give you in most RB maps.

I like flying it around in custom battle with realistic control and cockpit view with minimum fuel. The great cockpit visibility combined with very easy handling makes it a joy to just cruise around in. And with non-mouse-aim controls you can make fine inputs which is how high wing loading planes liked.

@@AdamTheEnginerd The plane? Mostly from books and reports. For what I know it was way faster IRL than it is ingame. One German primary Source actually states a TAS of 960 km/h @4000m.(!) Other than that it was supposed to be highly manouverable (roll rate and instantanious turn). One thing that is also lacking is the notorious high speed-flutter of the plane. It should behave like a true BnZ plane with a good roll. No turning and trying to keep your speed as high as possible. Good-Decent Climb rate and horrible acceleration. Basically how it is ingame but way faster. Bump it up to 7.0 and it could be a fun plane in RB or SB imho. I can link you the sources if you want (need to search them) Was trying to answer relatively quick. Have a nice day and keep up the good work:)

You can also find the calculated performance estimates with the BMW 003 and Jumo 004 you also find on wikipedia (for the 003E). These are located at the end of the report. Keep in mind these are Calculated estimates. The second page, first paragraph (Flight Characteristics) mention a highest flown speed of 960 km/h. The following german (quality) aviation newspaper (so no yellow press) cites the Kriegstagebuch and a Vw (TAS) of 960km/h too: www.flugrevue.de/klassiker/heinkel-he-162-darf-an-die-front-strahler-im-endkampf/ The testflight dates to the 3rd March 1945.

Maneuvering Energy Retention. Essentially it's a measure of how much energy (speed) an aircraft loses when maneuvering. Well, the short answer is, takeoff stability and vibrations. Long answer, some sorces state that the early "winglets" were primarily used to gain more stability at takeoff and landing speeds, due to less drag caused by vortices (ground effect actually helped this aircraft a lot ;D). Other sources state that another reason for the "winglets" was the need to decrease vortices in flight, as these induced wing vibrations wich could have ended in the structural failure of them. Besides these reasons, the design just looks great and somehow resembles a much smaller older version of the A10 Thunderbolt XD.

I either get pilot sniped or set on fire with the first hit, 1km out, at high speed, at an angle, when I try for a quick hit on bombers. Yet when I fly a bomber the whole crew dies from heart attacks when an enemy gets spotted.

I honestly wish today's 5.7-6.3 Games were like this. Now a days, its just 6 man lobbies, with 4 JU288s (usually under level 30) and 2 fighters for the axis, while the allies, get super prop fighters or interceptors with airspawns when they shoudnt, with maybe 1 bomber on their team... It is such a pain, trying to 1 v 5 lobbies in the He 162, never mind a G14 (5.3) facing F2Gs and more... Wish the old WT would return, where flying my K4 and he162, was the fun-est thing for me, and actually enjoyable.

I think it's a fun aircraft as long as you have teamates to back you up. Having 4 Ju288's on a 10 person team, or worse having 3 on a 6-7 person team, is what ruins the gameplay for the He162. In general Ju288's have been the main problem with 5.0-6.0 for a while. They are the reason for pretty much every game is lost in German Air RB.

Honestly i find the 162 quite capable of carrying against all props (p51h excluded). It's just that i take a long time and good aim. Match are too short for properly BnZ and attackers. can instantly win the match. I think the "hate" about the 162 should be aimed for the whole 6.0 br range shitness of a grinding show currently.

England’s radar was legit, one of the major downfalls of Luftwaffe’s attempts cripple them. If they had developed and utilized the Ho-229 it could have been a different story as the sheer speed and hard to detect design would have allowed them to basically BnZ the English radar stations in around 7 minutes if I remember correctly from the FOB... if they risked using the cutting edge aircraft on the front line.

Ho229 wasn't more than 50% stealthier than contemporay prop fighters though, it would be more its speed that would change things. But, if Germans had Ho229s in 1940, UK has bigger issues than their radar being destroyed haha.

hahaha yah Ho’s prowling in 1940 would have been a lopsided war. Northrop Grumman did a pretty detailed documentary and rebuild of the Ho-229 and radar testing with it, I think they worked it out to like 40% reduction in detection distance when compared to a 109 + the sheer speed would make a scramble essentially useless.

It was on Bf109s, under 200km/h at low altitude you can put the prop pitch at 65% for extra thrust. I used it at the end of my Bf109G14AS video if you want to see it in action.

Are you sure about it is for just low level attack.I saw some articles about it is dispatched to attack bomber groups for high altitude interception as well.

It's not much, but: plane-encyclopedia.com/ww2/heinkel-he-162/ "Based on these requirements, the RLM placed an initial order for the new Volksjäger low-altitude jet fighter in July 1944. The first mockup needed to be ready by 1st October, 1944, and a fully operational prototype should have been ready by early December the same year. The main production was planned to begin in early 1945." Never heard of the He162 shooting down heavy bombers. It wouldn't be fit for the task either (relatively small armament, low ammo, small amount of protection).

@@AdamTheEnginerd I saw some records engaging tempest and p47s but at 1944-1945 still the main threat was coming from high altitutude bombers and their escorts and 262 alone of course couldnt manage to hold it(all articles say focke and me are outdated and 262 has still errors) Logical part is if it is worked perfectly the small plane will hard to shoot with bombers defence turrets. It can use hit and run tactic very efficently due its armament and speed. But your explanaton is enough for me. Thanks..

Hey Adam, could you please enlighten me? Recently I've started to use MEC on american planes, especifically the P-51s and 4 series corsairs; even with prop pitch on auto and being unable to control mixture i see an immediate and extreme lose on power. I even Double checked the Supercharger gear switch altitudes, they all match up with what i am doing, yet when i turn MEC on the manifold pressure drops by 10 or even more in some cases, could you please explain what i am doing wrong?

Hmm I'd have to see footage of that. The supercharger gear goes back to gear 1 if you switch to automatic and then go back to MEC though. Does this happen at low altitude as well (takeoff)? Corsairs have 3 supercharger gears as well, beware of that.

Even at high alt, i can cycle through all three gears and the manifold pressure just keeps going under 50, it seems like It doesnt change a single thing...

It didn’t look like a hit but you sure did fire about 10-20 rounds. Thing is you can only see 2 tracers but if you look at the ammo count, you can see you fired like 20 rounds.

Maneuvering Energy Retention. Essentially it's a measure of how much energy (speed) an aircraft loses when maneuvering.
