I have once heard a story about a full groan african spurred tortoise: That Guy lived in some nice garden on the grass until his "owners" got the bright Idea to buy a lawnmower robot- which frightened him so much he made a run for it, bashing through the wooden fence and wandering off the property. of course the Lawnmower followed shortly after through the newly opebned hole in the fence as it had no restraining wire to keep it from wandering of- the tortoise at that point saw no other choice than to take on his enemy in heroic combat, flattening it with the help of all his 90 kg body mass. the tortoise was later found in some lettuce bed in the neighborhood...

To be fair tortoises are surprisingly good at escaping. I learned this from my sister's pet tortoise, who managed to climb out of his hutch multiple times. (Luckily the hutch is on a raised section of garden in our back yard, so he didn't get far)
