@@AdamTheEnginerd i used to be able to recover in single props... Used to toggle to full real controls to do it and switch back after exiting the spin. I can't anymore... Has it been changed? Do a video on how to exit flat spins? :)

@@SamuelGavin WT flight model is extremely bad when it comes to spins and recovery. Generally only Full power and opposite rudder work to recover.

@@SamuelGavin For a flat spin in a single engine prop. Just cut the throttle, hold the nose down and rudder the opposite direction. Once in a dive, increase throttle and you should be good.

This is exactly how I feel when in my La-7 (Br 4.7) as long as I am below or at 3.5km. When I meet someone I can't outmanuevre I engage communist emergency power and dive away from them (not exceeding 705kmph IAS in the dive) then I level put on the deck and gain some seperation.

In regards to Hispano Mk V reliability, I found ground belts to be extremely reliable in comparison to air and stealth for taking out planes.

@@jaiell2049 I mean that's purely subjective and dependent on what you're trying to accomplish. For ground-pounding and taking out bombers I'd rather use ground belts (Wings are easier to shoot off) Stealth definitely gives you the edge of surprise for fighters but I personally dislike how unreliable Hispano HE-I is (sparks). Best to just use whatever suits.

Yeah I've fought a few Hornets since it got the 150 octane, and if they play it okay your only chance is a quick shot after a reversal before he zooms too far away.

The “small” buff you’re talking about isn’t “small” by any mean (at least IMO) Deflection kills with Mk.V are now a piece of cake, and I now need only 50 (rather that 200) round to take down a bomber

It's a buff to 1/4 rounds in the stealth belt. So basically the best case scenario, if the pre-buff round was useless, is a 33% increase in effectiveness. Some people haven't noticed a difference. I personally think there's a small difference.

In any normal prop that doesn’t have twin engines, here’s how you stop a flat spin. 1. Cut throttle and hold rudder opposite of spin 2. Hold the elevator into a dive (the plane should start rocking, this is good) 3. Once the plane starts diving, it should automatically correct the spin. 4. Throttle up and profit

Even Yak-3U with shot off parts of wings flies fine, after 13s fire and after getting shot some more with MG151/20 its handling OK, as I found out when I flew past him and he easily followed my trajectory and critted my plane (luckily a teammate put another ton of lead into him and the total weight forced him down). Similar story with La-9 - lack of both wings doesn't stop it from maneuvering and rolling.

Love that enemies did not produce anything dangerous and were very reluctant to cooperate, making mistakes all the time. Guess that's the skill when you lay your pray not only in plane or pilot capabilities but can effectively utilize enemies' mistakes.

Hey Adam. Thanks for the video. Great tips for one of my favourite aircraft. What is your key binding setup? I used MEP but never thought to separate engines controls. Is this worth the effort? As well...my favourite plane or all-time is the Mossie. The thing is in War Thunder it seems really lame (heck, the Beaufighter outperforms it other than for speed.)

Most RAF pilots in the late to post war era were well trained in flying twin engine aircraft on only one engine. Particularly because of the Meteor and Hornets.

I think the irl Hornet was a bit more resistant to spins on one engine, because it gets into spins easily with one engine in WT and that's not safe.

@@AdamTheEnginerd You might be right, I know the De Havilland Mosquito (the hornets predecessor) flew its demonstration flight at one point on one engine still displaying incredible handling and performance still. So I don’t see why the similar Hornet wouldn’t handle similar, despite the engines being quite a bit more powerful. The hornet is one of the pinnacles of prop aircraft design, the two very powerful late war Merlins strapped to a single seat sleek fighter is a hell of a lot of power to have. I mean the F7F is probably the best comparison?

I imagine it’s because of how close the props are to one another compared to other twin engined aircraft. There’s just enough room for the guns to shoot through and that’s it. So when one engine is out, the opposite prop doesn’t have as much leverage on the rest of the airplane. This doesn’t really translate well to the game though lol

Sadly that's the thing, critical hits seem to not be so "critical" half the time anymore. I've critted so many planes that ended up having almost next to no damage at all. That's in my experience anyway.

@@AdamTheEnginerd i had to clutch a 7v1 last night and got down to the last guy, well I get a crit on him with my G6's 13mm mgs he tried to run the rest of the way to his base so I head to mine to refuel (didn't make it) and dude gets credit. I look at him in the kill spectator cam and he doesn't even have a scratch. No holes anywhere in sight, not even a chip in the paint.

It's called the "local host". How to access the "local host": You need to be running War Thunder or it won't work! Option 1: on the same computer that is running WT: -Type localhost:8111/ in the address bar and press enter and voila. Option 2 (which also works on the computer that runs WT): -Type Your_IP_Address:8111/ where you replace "Your_IP_Address" by your IP Address (192.168.X.XXX) in the address bar and press enter and voila, you can look at the characteristics on another device while flying. You're better off using this overlay though.

Thanks! In MEC settings, you need to bind keys to toggle controls for engine 1 and engine 2. Throttling quickly is just throttle sensitivity.

wouldn't pointing the nose down during a spin be enough to stop it? Your entire tail section and vertical stabilizer should act as a giant "wind vane" that straightens the plane out? (I know next to nothing about aerodynamics)

Cut throttle, nose down and rudder to the opposite side of the spin

It would be enough, if you had the control authority to do it, which you do not when in a spin. The air is coming from below, so the amount of air flowing over the control surfaces is greatly reduced.

Try different things, like flaps/gear, no flaps no gear, throttle up and throttle down. And try different combinations of those things.

Yeah for sure. Takes a bit more time perhaps since there's less thrust but it'll stop the spin.

Are you getting weird stutters or fps issues on this map? And also stutters when you change from free look back to normal mouse aim? I don't remember it being like this until fairly recently

@@AdamTheEnginerd I mean, are my thoughts about your bonus hornet clip are correct or not,i'm thinking you just barely gain lift was at very last second using that flaps and Inertia force at rotational moment that makes all the phenomenon happened like how to enter that hilarious spin and how to recover. If something is wrong feel free i mean please to educate me on that. I do believe physics works!

@@AdamTheEnginerd That always makes me so sad. Cuz I got used to my old keybindings so much, everytime I try to asign my rudder and elevator to a useful position, I can`t get used to it xD. In hairy situations, I always have to kind of guess, whyt the enemy on my six is doing. Ah well... At least I kind of "mastered" that, but still... xD

Why do you leave Mixture at 56% instead of 60% like you said in your MEC guide ? By the way at lower BR, which one you prefer. XP-50, KI-96 or Whirlwind ?

I think war thunder make up handling characteristics just cause they can the Hornet should be far better than the mosquito in all aspects... But it looks like the mosi would out turn and roll the hornet

To a certain extent they do need to decide some of the performance of the plane due to incomplete information. Hornet rolls better than Mosquito though.
