The SF 40 Leichte has brought me a lot of pain so far in the Naval CBT Test. I finally unlocked it and it tried it for myself. At a top speed of 11 MPH with the wind to your back... you may not get to the battle right away but when you do make it to the battle, everyone else loses. These boat uses 16 20mm cannons as well as a 37mm. Basically a big painful wall of green tracers.

Not long after I first saw this video I read a book about the harbor of Rotterdam (the town I live in) during German occupation in WWII. Basically the heads of the largest shipbuilding yards faced a choice: play nice with the German Navy or lose everything (company, home and more). So most of them collaborated. And built and repaired many different kinds of ships. Most numerous were the fishing boats converted to patrol boats and AA boats. Most famous were the schnellboote. Not well known, but very real, one or two examples of this crazy river barge with four quad 20s on it. The book tries to paint a fairly balanced picture. On one hand, keeping the shipyards in Dutch hands meant that many people could keep working, including people who were in hiding. On the other hand, attacking planes -- especially the British, who apparently preferred to fly low in the early stages of the war -- suffered brutal losses at the hands of the many river patrol boats built & converted by my fellow countrymen. The book also repeatedly claims it could have been much worse. German high command allegedly had a habit of constantly changing the specifications of ships, and forgetting to allocate the building materials needed for these changes, leading to many ships being only half finished pretty much indefinitely and draining valuable resources.

I’m from the future. If you sail ships in the Japanese Bluewater Fleet, you can ust IJN Settsu (a Battleship) or IJN Hyuga (another Battleship, and for a time, flagship of the Japanese 4th Carrier Division as a Battleship-Carrier hybrid)

The flak barge is swift death to anything lightly armored - because it's an anti-aircraft weapon. So boats built like airplanes are gonna get mauled. Destroyers, meanwhile, have the kind of armor that makes a nice pinging sound and has paint damage from 20mm shells - and the kind of guns that will powder a vehicle that size. They're also significantly faster and more stable as gunnery platforms. A contemporary destroyer could, IAH, just ram a flak barge and sink it that way, as well...

The boat you're sailing is called a Siebel ferry. It was a landing craft in the service of the German Kriegsmarine in World War II, intended for Operation Sea Lion, the cancelled land invasion of Great Britain. It served until the war's end in 1945 (supposedly continuing to serve after the war as well, but I cannot find any sources stating how, or with which country/navy)

Since that's a flak barge, and most WWII German AA was under the control of the Luftwaffe, would that make it an Air Force controlled boat? Might explain the design and seamanship. ( and yes the RAF had a Sea Branch during WWII, so it's not an uncommon silly idea ).
