Another important thing to learn is the speed limit of your aircraft. That is, stall speed and maximum structural speeds for the airframe, flaps, and gear. Every plane is different, and you can easily flatspin if you aren't careful. You can theoretically recover from a spin and this is a good thing to practice on your own. However, I have had many experiences where I couldn't recover, even if doing everything correctly, so it's best to avoid situations like this as much as possible. Depending on your loadout, your takeoff run and landing will also be affected.
@CmdrTyrael Жыл бұрын
100% true. Each airframe is different to and it's important to know what they are capable of. I plan on making a few videos that solve the issues that novice pilots will encounter. Ie. Flat spins, stalls, emergency landing, engine outs, multi engine management etc. 🫡

Very comprehensive. I had to learn very slowly and for much of the time I played sim, I only played strategic bombers because I just couldn't do anything else with the mouse. Once I got a stick, I can do just about everything... but dogfight. It's very difficult for me to get precise enough aim with the guns without over or under-correcting... I've been trying to use more advanced tech to aid with my poor acquisition and aiming skills, but there aren't a lot of great guides on it for sim. Personally, I'd like to see a radar and missile guide.

I highly recommend setting up the primary/secondary weapon selection bindings to free up dedicated weapon buttons. Since flight sticks usually have far fewer buttons than a keyboard, having a dedicated button for every weapon on your plane becomes impractical once you advance to radar and missile tech.

Good guide for new player in Air SB. I use square mouse joystick, because I've heard from some SB pilots that it's better (but I'm not sure why 😅). And when you began to fly, I saw that when you put the mouse up, plane elevates, but my Y axis is inverted, so that mouse-joystick behave itself as real control stick: when you put the mouse down, plane elevates, as when you pull control stick on yourself, I think it's more intuitive
@CmdrTyrael Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment mate. This initial video Is for those trying to fly for the first time. We set up the virtual mousestick this way to emulate AB and RB mouse look control method. Once the pilots feel comfortable in the air, I would then recommend switching the Y axis to true Flickstick orientation. Minimising the complication initially makes flying more enjoyable and doesn't overwhelm the senses. Thanks for watching

Nice instructive video. I have one question. Is it still possible to bind and use the "zoom out" to further to increase FOV in first person like it used to? Also I would suggest to use zero deadzone for more "fine" control of the aircraft.
@CmdrTyrael Жыл бұрын
I am not to sure about zoom out. Bit you can zoom in 2 ways. With traditional "Z" key. Or there is head move. Head move still works, I omitted this from the guide for simplicity but you can also control the position of the pilots head. Forward back, sides, and up down
@Virtual_Combat Жыл бұрын
Yes, I know both methods, but there is a way instead of an instant zoom with Z to use increments and bind 2 keys (one for zoom in and one for zoom out), wich used to let you, while zooming out go a wee bit below default value (hence increase FOV). Last time I played, it didnt work anymore wich made me quit the game sadly since I was mainly trying to use MnK controls... @@CmdrTyrael

I can also recommend you to look at a video about MnK controls from BlackMaze. I found a lot of success (it is incomparable with the default settings) customizing his controls and made my MnK setup competitive even against flightsticks/controllers (also i do not use head track/VR). He also explains the FOV trick with the zoom, or the ability to look around while flying without using C (wich was gamechanging for me). @@CmdrTyrael

Actually having to visual the 3d space mentally and track it all is the hardest part. But it's what sets the modes apart. Even a superior aircraft can be downed of the pilot makes 1 mistake. That's beautiful in my eyes 🤣

Hello! I noticed you didn't suggest any american trainer aircraft, i was curious since i'm grinding its research tree at the moment. But if i were to bet on it, i would say you'd suggest the P-38 for props and the B-57 for early jets.

nice work mate! I can't afford a useable (not cheap) HOTAS so I use mouse and keyboard with "relative" control....not ideal but I've learned to use it moderately well. The problem with mouse-joy is the unreliable re-centering. Of course you can set up key-binds for that but .... tedious in the heat of engagement. Also tuning ailerons and rudder in "mouse joy" is tricky.... many departures from controlled flight result in poorly coordinated control inputs... the level of training required with "mouse joy" is significant ... BTW are you an Aussie?

I prefer the HE-112 for a sim trainer. More stable and less engine torque than a bf-109 for takeoff Once you get the hang of general flying in the 112 move up the HE-100. Which I consider to be the German Trainer for Energy Fighting and BnZ.

@Jauffre-innit if your flying jets make sure to put on Stability mode when in transit. It makes these aircraft much easier. @@CmdrTyrael i appreciate that man, ive been trying to get used to the kb&m but im really struggling (maybe im dumb and didnt use stab mode), only reason im not using hotas is because of desk space and the horrific freeview system given by the nipple. i love twiddling nipples, but that just aint doing it for me. im not keen on changing accuracy, i like it to be the exact same across all sections of all games I play, thats a last resort

@Jauffre-innit I get that man. When I use mine it requires tactical desk placement 🤣 I rebound the look controls to my ministick on the throttle. It gives much better range of view and is much easier to control. I just adjusted sensitivity to give a natural range of motion. KB & M is limiting because the instructor tries to level you out and it's harder to do loops and rolls. It shouldn't be like that. No other flight sim I know does this with keyboard controls
