Hey Magz. I really enjoy these squad battles. Keep it up. I unfortunately cant play WT right now so im living vicariously through this. My internet card is shitting the bed at the moment so I get random 999 ping spikes every 30-45 seconds. Makes flying low to the ground a pants shittingly eventful experience.

When your engine is damaged and going to die, is it better to hit the deck and try and get to the runway as quick as possible or get some altitude to help with the glide?

Tomek Allen if you get to alt you can then turn your prop pitch to zero and therefor have a lot less resistence gliding back. I think that's the best option

it depends on the circumstances. generally, i try and get a good glide slope. i found something that helps me is to cut the engine and glide to just above stall speeds and then fire up the engine again. i repeat until either i make it back or the engine quits. i try and maintain an altitude of about 2-3 thousand feet.

Ritchie Moorman not quite. The speed where you achieve lowest drag isn't actually the lowest possible speed where you can fly. There will be less aerodynamic drag or parasite drag at lower speeds, but the slower you go the more induced drag there is. Induced drag is caused by air spilling over the wings and that effect is greatest at lower speeds, and decreases the faster you go, where parasite drag is more prominent at higher speeds but decreases the slower you go. E.g. at high speeds there's barely any induced drag but a ton of parasite drag, and at low speed there's not much parasite drag but a lot of induced drag. So the speed where you achieve the least drag is actually somewhere in the middle, where the sum of the effect of both these types of drag is lowest (this speed is very different for every plane and you should find it by experimentation or via the internet somewhere). So the most efficient glide slope would be achieved by flying at that speed.

Is the ki-100 any good in general? I saw the stats and was like "nope nope nope, its just another shit ki-61 except it looks better" From the looks of this video, its WEP climb rate looks okay. I'll be happy to go through the trouble of spending my already-minimum silver lion bank on it if its WEP performance is something to look at , especially if its cooling rate is abuseable with MEC

ZdrytchX -{Reference I've successfully used it as a boom and Zoomer against Germans and Russians however one must take care as it wings are kind of fragile for its role . Also please remember this thing is capapble more then others can, turn with and out turn Spitfires with most upgrades even stock it's quite good and uniquely for Japanese aircraft is not flammable not in the same way the zeros are. I cannot begin to recount the fires I have put out simply put out by turning off the engine and reducing the throttle to nothing. An all round good plane and not simply a ki-61 with longer wings. ^^

Most Australians are stuck on ADSL1 or ADSL2+ on poor quality phone lines. ADSL1 is limited to 8mbit down and 1mbit max up. ADSL2+ is limited to 24mbit down and (for most providers in australia) 1mbit up. The problems start with the phone line quality and distance from the exchange, people rarely hit the above speeds, in fact a lot of people barely reach adsl 1 speeds let alone adsl2 speeds. The government is currently rolling out whats called the NBN or National Broadband Network which touts speed upto 100mbit down and 40mbit up. The initial plan for this was to have 93% of australian households connected to fibre, however due to politics and idiots deciding that they are opposed to the idea because the opposition had the idea we are now deploying fibre to the node, which means the last upto 1km still runs on the failing and aging copper infrastructure. The upshot of that is that even people (like myself) who have access to the NBN we are still subject to line quality and distance issues (my line maxes out at 58mbit down 20mbit up, I am on a 50mbit down 20mbit up plan as a consequence). On top of that the company that runs and is building the NBN has set the cost of links into the new network very high (Customer Virtual Circuit) which means that many ISP's cant afford to supply enough bandwidth to their customers so during peak times internet speeds for some people go to shit. So the TL;DR is as follows: Political shit and bad technological choices are why our internet is so slow for the majority of Australians.
