Warband Tier List - Seasons 1-4

Makes me sad to see so many tier listings put Starblood Stalkers so low, I find their only drawback being 4 x 2 wound fighters, which can easily be countered with anti-primacy cards (everything to prove, underdog, martyred if you're playing relic). Inbuilt quarry keyword opens up some whacky good deckbuilding opportunities, I've got access to cards that no other warband can really optimize on (preybond is a joke with outrun death, cryptic companion and otapatl) and the absolute monster that is Klaq Trok. So many silly hunter/quarry teleport cards which allow you to inspire and H3 within 2 activations if you do it right as everyone feels they need to deal with the Troq first. Also have reliable access to late game Making a Statement, if you only have two objectives in your territory and Kixi holds one, delete 2nd objective with Kixi special action and you hold all objectives in your territory, dumb stuff, 3 glory for one objective??? Also can do funny stuff with Uncontested if you can big brain good enough.

Ya, they definitely aren't weak and can certainly be great with enough experience and solid deckbuilding. Also, just because they aren't higher on my general 'across all meta' list, doesn't men they aren't stronger in the current meta than they are ranked here.

@@wtfhammer9160 You've ranked them a lot higher than most rankings I've seen! Glad to see them in A, definitely not S tier. Some rankings put them in B and even C from what I've seen, truly a lack of foresight or play testing, I respectfully disagree with Gitz being A tier and not putting them in B tier, they do everything that Gitz can do but better + Klaq Troq, Inbuilt quarry and access to stupid teleport cards.

@@Bruchlynd.Argyle No problem. I think Gitz are very solid and versatile. Good defence as well across the board with a lot going on. I agree that Starblood are superior though.

Hey, nice list! I generally agree but i have a couple of questions: - is Mollog placed considering Ferocious Resistance? I think with that card it should be higher (or maybe I am bad at countering him, open to suggestions) - I think wurmspat should be a couple position higher considering primacy, like the last position of A tier, with te potential of being middle A if good damaging/movement spells/gambits are printed in s5. Opinions?

Ya, maybe wurmspat could be ahead of grashrak and morgwaeth. Issue with them is that their objective cards suck, so in any early meta, if there are not useful universal aggro cards available, they will not do well. They also rely heavily on ploys that do ping damage, which is no guarantee to exist in a meta. Morgweth and Grashrak are a lot more generally functional in the absence of those types of cards, and can thrive in heavy positional play meta... so I put them ahead. Mollog is kinds similar in that he relies heavily on aggro/mollog-specific universal cards. If there are few, he will struggle. I agree that he is top tier in the current meta, but definitely not across most of the meta of previous seasons. I tried to make a tier list that is generally valid across all seasons. Of course, any warband's usefulness can vary depending on the given universal cards available.

Hello, I'm a casual player. Can you help me and send some decklists or a good source of them? I was trying underworldsdb builder and watching some of tournaments decklists. Im playing all the warbands with no restrictions.

Definitely cannot agree with Skeletons being that high. Definitely should not be higher than the rest of B tier. You say that they gained boost with Arena Mortis but those are only universal cards and will rotate soon with Beastgrave. So you either take into consideration all of universals or none. For me it's C tier. Also local tournaments are happening. Depends on a country you live in :)

Fair point. My reasoning is that they can be quite solid and versatile; great at objective-holding play since the warden can have 2 to 3 units move in one activation. Also have 3 strong revivable units which are quite threatening. The raise token mechanic provides some added versatility as well. It's possible that once Beastgrave rotates out, the raise counter cards will never appear again. But it's also possible that, like the hunger counters, they may reappear across all 3 card types; mainly if another warband that uses raise counters come into existence. For these reasons I think they have more potential than the other warbands Iisted below them. Also, I do consider universal cards in my tier-listing... just not any specific ones. More like, what sort of versatility/effectiveness could each warband have in meta? Obviously their faction-specific objective cards are ass, but they could (and have been) quite impressive when complementary universal cards are available. I think generally they perform/will perform better than the warbands lower on the list. But, all of this is subjective and tricky.
