Finally assembled the team tonight after enjoying their robot modes for months. Holy Cow Mac !! Bruticus is awesome. Only wish his combined mode head was closer to G1, but it does look cool as is. Nothing less than Glorious, and there is NO WAY I would have even touched this team if it wasn't for THIS very review. Because the perception online at TFW is exceedingly negative, but you state it as it is, and stood your ground on this team. Thanks Bobby !!

Good job man.. You forgot to put the antennas up on the head unless it was a personal preference....also blastoffs feet should hinge strait back to clear the hand without having to turn the feet..

I love the set. The individual bots have really had no QC problems for me. Just the combiner ports. I was able to do the fixes on X-ray and he's a solid little guy. I just learned from everyone else's mistakes

Great review. I had to keep referring to it as I put mine together. I heard some of the limb bots are difficult to remove so I attached then removed them. Brawl was tight put a little filing of his port fixed that. Airburst was a pain in the ass and I basically destroyed the replacement peg removing him. Luckily had the original I could use to make it work. Just a tip of you get X-ray. When you attach the arms loosen the screws cause people have been breaking the ball peg and file down the hip connection for the thigh piece cause people have been shearing off the mushroom peg. Keep up the good work man

You know it's a good combiner when no other third party company tries to top it. You've a few Devastators, a couple of Computrons, Defensors, Menasors, etc... but there's only one Bruticus, baby. This thing is a gem and I might just dish out the dollar for him at TFcon this year. OR... I will invest in Hades OR... Shuraking. Too many combiners, so little dollar.

The two barrels of the main canon can actually extend and articulate 90 degrees horizontally, but u need to loosen up the screws to pull them out.

I actually have 2 sets: one combined, one in robot team on a shelf. They are amazing, no matter the issues. Just be careful with them/him :) And yes: you can configure launch base/ drone gatling/ drone cannon/ as you like. I made a base mode with drones (foots)+ hands+ rifle+ onslaught trailer+ chest piece and it's look so cool :)

Wow! After watching you gush over this figure, I may have to rethink my stance on it. I still have problems with his football shoulders and the fact that he looks like he is wearing pants that are too short for him. This is due to brawl and swindle not sinking into the feet but resting on top of the foot which makes it look like Bruticus' ankles are exposed. However, seeing him posed in dynamic positions makes him look so much better. If this thing even beats Feral Rex, I might have to take the plunge. But I only have so much money to spend, so I was wondering what you would say is a better purchase: Sever & Stomp vs. Warbotron Bruticus Aliens M577 Armored Personel Carrier vs. Warbotron Bruticus Apollyon (if it is QC free) & Starscream vs Warbotron Bruticus Feeding myself for a month vs Warbotron Bruticus and starving

I bought this 2nd hand from someone and it was mistransformed. Didnt have the shoulders locked into place. The tires on onslaught weren't moved up so the backpack couldn't peg in all the way. Then brawls combiner foot wouldnt stay in place and kept coming out. Oh well got it for a steal at $100 and it even had the upgraded air burst and ratchets already, just missing xray and the other gun.

Haha, your skits are the best, another fantastic review. My biggest gripe with warbotron is those rather ridiculously high shoulders they have on their combiners, the small heads and torsos, otherwise they look very imposing! I'm saving myself for most likely ordin. I'm torn with that figure, while the robots look fantastic, with the exception of blot, the alt modes for the rest are pretty shit. But that Ordin, damnnnnnnnn....he's so imposing but his proportions are easily the best of any combiner I've seen out there. No tiny head, no tiny torso or ridiculously high shoulders, he's pretty much perfect, once they announce the toon accurate armour that I know they will....Mania king springs to mind...they will be mine. Great review, man!

Great review dude. My Nonslaught arrived this morning, and I'm really happy with him. BTW - about the feet, and having to fiddle the guns round the ankle peg - the pegs can be pulled out. They fit into the feet the same way as the shoulder pegs do into Nonslaught's shoulders.

Fansproject Intimadator 3. Mastermind Creations Feral Rex All I need now is Ordin, and TFC Hercules. And that's probably going to be another 1,000$ for those 2, my poor wallet ;(

They seem pretty good, but they seem to have an issue with stress marks...ugh....other than that, looks like a good combiner. I know Warbotron has that X-Ray (Shockwave) figure that also comes with a gun for Bruticus, which I may ask: You gonna review X-Ray as well as the gun add on?? Kinda interested in their Shockwave figure but kinda not at the same time, knowing you have to put that mess together. -.- If I don't go for this, like I said previously, I may go for Computron since that one seems a wee bit neater (?), idk. Lol Back on topic, I think Warbotron has a good thing going for their combiners so far, & seeing that comparison with TFC's Hercules & Prometheus, my goodness, he towers over both of them, which surprises me so much! I mean, wow, I was stunned for a minute lol & kinda liked how that scaled, I just wonder if any other company like TFC, Maketoys, Fansproject, etc. is gonna try to make Bruticus in the near future. All in all though, great video as always Bobby, especially on the figure, which isn't hateful, but very much likeable. :)

Bobby Skullface L ive noticed something about why its so much harder to connect swindle then brawl. The box port on swindle is a 1/32" narrower then brawl. The walls of the joiner are thicker and have little padded sections on them. I havent tried it yet but a small file to the inside just to scrap a paperthin edge off the port may impolrove the ease of putting together or apart. Not like hes ever gonna not be displayed as the big brute anyway though!

I got the jinbao version its a best i admit there is a few issues with it but its a beautiful combiner its awesome the holes on the back of the combiner feet are for the waste that pluges into onslaught the tabs on it fit into the hole on the feet so it makes it look like the drones are driving the cargo bed trailer that you can put brawl on i forget how to make the launch pad for blastoff but yep bruticus is a epic combiner

Dear Skullface , Could you elaborate on what exactly is issue you mentioned on the translucent plastic on ankle rotating tilts and how you solve or manage the problem.

Translucent plastic is just more brittle and there's a piece that's used against the ratchet. It does come with replacement pieces for it though. The rumor is if you lighten the screws around it it doesn't put as much pressure on it. Hope that helps.

Hey Bobby, another great review but I do have a question. I'm soon to have this set (on the way as I speak) and I keep them in packaging for storage, How is this set for dismantling? The knee connections seem super solid, I mean you can see how much trouble Brawl gave you to get on. Is it going to be a case of ripping the figures to pieces if I try or is it just pull and hope for the best?

I believe Computron will be finished without a funding issue now which should push Mensaor. Man I was able to get Bruticus to fit into an IKEA glass case in a wicked blazing gun pose and it holds like a brick. I agree with you Warbotron's Bruticus is not only my favorite G1 Combiner ( Cartoon ) now its my favorite 3rd party combiner without a doubt and has taken 1st place MP Combiner award ( Herc and Predaking tied for second ) looking forward to Abominus after seeing complete pics ............... I got the jinbao bruticus it's amazing I love it so much the blastoff bass it pags in really well I got it at tf con 2018 last weekend it was 180 but my dad made the guy go down to 160 and all the joints are tight it's beautiful all hail bruticus 😜

Okay, since I don't own any 3rd party transformers, that thing with the stress marks: is the plastic quality really that bad on 3rd party figures? Like, bad enough that you risk having parts break off with relatively little play?

No the plastic is superb. Higher grade than most 1st party items with few exceptions. The problem is, is that these guys aren't professional toy makers with 50 years of experience. Therefor sometimes hinges are too tight or tolerances are a bit off and can stress the plastic if your not careful and paying attention to what you're doing it can even break.

Bobby Skullface L Ah, I see. So the issue is down to the hinges on certain areas being too thin to really stand up to the kind of stresses the figure is put through for transformation, or the joints being so tight that its actually terrifying to move them for fear of breaking something.

My Airburst/blastoff cannot hold anything with out the ratchet giving way forward and back. Are you having this issue? Whirlwind/ Vortex seems to be fine. Can hold either gun, and or a deluxe figure.

Here's a late to the party question: how are the Bruticus hip joints? Do the forward-backward ratchets there hold well, allow him to hold poses? I'm thinking of getting the Warbotron Fierce Attack to replace my Wukong version which is very weak in that area. Thanks.

well, i passed on this guy due to the cost and the fact that the company came out of nowhere... so bad on me. i'll just have to survive with the Military Titan upgrade to FOC Bruticus (and all it's floppy, falling apart, glory!), and hold out hope that Combiner Wars Bruticus will be as acceptable as Superion and Defensor are (and not garbage like Menasor is).

So skullface I have been meaning to ask you, should I get warbotron Bruticus here or Feral Rex. On the one hand I am getting the CW Bruticus with the PE upgrades already (which in combined form is pretty solid), and I don't have any sort of Predaking, but Bruticus is my favorite combiner and individually the CW combaticons don't really feel like the combaticons (minus onslaught). This will be mmy first third party anything let alone combiner. So which set should I get (oh and for the record I collect chug scale instead of masterpiece as my big bucks go into sh monsterarts)

Been collecting the CW sets for the last few months. It's been a nightmare trying to find complete sets in store (in Australia) but I've managed to get a hold of Optimus Maximus, Devastator and Menasor. Is it worth investing in the CW Bruticus or buying a third party like this?

Foam pads are for the feet for extra traction. And yellow pieces are replacement pieces also in the feet of that translucent piece breaks, I believe.
