Playing a Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne custom map called hero wars Iceland. This map is similar to Dota where you have to control a hero and push through a single lane to reach the enemy's main structure. You can either upgrade your units or focus on your hero's attributes.

Hey! I'm the maker of this game, and it's crazy to see my game being played many years after I quit. It's probably a dead game now, but I will say that a lot of the things you were criticizing about actually do have mechanics built in to address them, they're just not obvious to newer players. Because it was WC3, we had no real way of tutorializing it, so the only way to learn was if a high-level player taught you. So, when you were talking about the ending - the ending is almost 80% of the skill in the game. Normally in high level games 2v2s, one player plays on defense and the other plays on attack. The player on defense buys units (handymen) to simultaneously repair the base, and unit-block players from getting to thee base. The fact that red was dispelling your friend's AM shield was due to the fact that he was using that priest unit (which is also used defensively when players rush the nexus). Offensive players, on the other hand, make use of priests, Superior archers, and the purchaseable "cyclone" spell to remove the defender, the handymen that he's using to block (as well as building towers, of course). So the game functioned like a unit-control micro game with an emphasis on your hero as the kingpin unit. Usually defending was a bit stronger than attacking, if your opponents were any bit ready, you would not have had such a successful attack on their base. Given this, in high level play it would be incredibly rare for a game to end after one rush like that. Usually it took about 10-20~ rushes, where you'd probe for weaknesses in your opponent's defenses, attack their resources, and time a big rush at the nexus. Anyway, thanks for playing my game! I have great memories of playing as a kid playing all versions of hero wars, Iceland's was by and far the best. I'm actually surprised its still played.

Yeah i always loved using the invis wraith buying 5 coils and getting like 3 kills at the start to give us an advantage in the 1st duel

The strategies I've used was getting a few towers built up front and upgrading them to buy us time to advance into their territory. then there were the overpowered invisible archers that attack only heroes.

Use the gold mine you built at the beginning to bank your gold right before you die or duel

you can keybind 12 handy men and surround incoming enemy heros with them to stop them being able to do dmg to base, its called handy block, also when you build bank on the base its stops handymen from being able to repair base as fast so you should always build it on line, another advnatage to building it on line is you can make a line of defense that heroes cant pass without destroying at least one of them

oh and always have handy men patrolling too ( at base ) especially when you have a full line of defense

last thing, you can use priests to dispell an ams and then use cyclone to give your handymen time to repair your base between attacks

Try and get back to main base before first duel to tome up to lvl 6. Also buy cloak of flames when you’re a melee hero without a CC spell so troops don’t surround you

One more thing, don’t send units, if just feeds the enemy. Only upgrade troops and send hydras once available

Vimp Gaming try having one person upgrade troops only as quick as possible. They get ridiculously strong and gain chaos damage
