Feel free to experiment ^^ However, the Archmage is typically picked because he allows you to powerlevel through creeping with his summon ability 'Water Elemental' and later on his 'Brilliance Aura' ability provides a huge boost for a Human army which normally consists of casters. Paladin is normally chosen as a third Hero to support.

I would also recommend building a farm with the peasant building the barracks after the next peasant's build timer is at 67%, send that peasant to the unfinished barracks. This guarantees you have enough pop to build a hero when your altar finishes

idk if its the best what i do , but i created my own build order: 1. start to train 1 worker (put idle workers in the mine ) 2. put 1 worker to make altar of kings 3. put another worker to make the barracks 4. put another worker to make 1 farm 5. after altar of kings and barracks are finished , put the workers to chop wood and start train your hero [i aim for arcane mage] 6. start training workers to try to get exactly 5 to gold mine and exactly 4 in the wood , if you have more , use them to build faster 7. train 2 footmen to go help the arcane mage after he spawned 8. put all wood workers to create a lumber mill next to trees and obviously send them to chop wood afterwards 9. train 5 more workers to go and chop more wood 10. take 1 wood-chopping worker and queue build 3 more farms [make them in a square cuz why not] 11. after footmen were finished , use them together with hero to get a green camp [use elemental to tank when you can] 12. don't do anything until you get enough resources to upgrade to keep , and when you have enough , just do it 13. take 2 gold miners and make them build 2 towers in front of the base , both upgrade to archer towers , then put them back to gold [make them help each other , not build separatly] 14. if there are more green camps available that are not really close to enemy , take them with hero and footmen 15. keep should be finished , so take any worker and build an arcane building and also build a shop 16. if arcange building is finished , make 4 spell stealers and research their stuff , if shop is ready heal your units or buy towers to use if you can , and if you can just place them in front of your base at a good distance 17. after the spell stealers are ready , add them to your army capture a gold mine nearby, and make there 3 towers , 1 shop and 4 farms from this point play how you like or need , order of the queue can be changed and added a lot more steps , but thats how *I* start a human match , I do exactly the same with orcs , but their units instead of theses units, but i dont know how good this start is

Also, you suggest expanding after teching, which I have never seen any pros do. Probably because with 8 peasants on wood you would get too little wood if you use 5 peasants to get an expansion and you wouldn't have the wood for tier 2 buildings or towers to protect yourself and could get in big trouble if you are attacked before you get enough wood.

The BO you are doing is more of the new school, used by TH000. I do more of the old school way, using ToD/Sky's method, which is Which is, 4 mine, 1 altar, altar worker is also scout next worker from TH: rack, next worker from TH: farm, next worker from TH: farm, next worker from TH: gold mine. next worker from TH: wood scout tower next farm should be around when first footmen is in production. techs around 4-5 footies.

**I apologize in advance for the wall of text** I haven't played WC3 for ages and never really bothered with melee maps, by the time I used to play it was all about custom stuff except for the campaign and a bunch of games vs AI. Now, I have to say I've been missing a lot of basics like pulling and surrounding creep camps as much as base blocking, which I only deemed useful in Starcraft (oh well, like the AI would pull a 6pool-like strategy). I've just started to play it after so long and the memories are great, so I think I'll stick to it for a while. All in all, I never thought it was feasible to kill a level 6 creep camp with a fresh army consisting of a few fresh units without any upgrades, in fact I never thought it would be worth using militia aside from base defense. I have to say it bothers me that heroes are fixed to some extent, with the Archmage being the only real first pick. As a Kael'thas fan it bothers me that the blood mage isn't even suggested by most people, aside from being the 3rd *support* hero, and I'll personally make it work at least vs AI (not really hard, but it's easy to miss the summons). Last but not least, I noticed you didn't drop a blacksmith, which is probably cool since you are going for priests, but I have to ask when should I consider the blacksmith, if upgrades are worth early on and whether I want to deploy lumbermills. I mean, 2 lumber upgrades could cut the number of lumber peasants in half, independently of whether there's a goblin lab nearby. TL;DR: Cool video, I learned a lot, subbed, liked, will watch the rest. I know this video is old, but would you please let me know if blood mage has any particular strategy, also if blacksmith/lumbermill upgrades are worth getting sooner? Thanks in advance.

I haven't seen it all yet, but very informative so far. Some stuff in here I haven't thought about myself too. Bit surprised you only cover the one build order from what I've seen so far because it also depends on your opponent's race and build order. I think this is the typical strategy against Orc in 1v1, but I don't think this is normal against Night Elves because you typically get an expansion and sometimes against Undead too. But it would be too complicated and lengthy to cover all build orders of course,

Well, the meta has crushed Human pretty badly. I'd suggest following it up until 24 food. Then Tech > Blacksmith > Farm & make Rifles & more farms where needed. I'll likely make more guides in the future but will take some work and it would be good if it seemed like we were at a point where Blizzard are happy with the game and don't need to change/balance too much more, otherwise those guides won't make sense either.

Lovely vid but I have a question why humans go Arcane sanctum, the units there have rubbish DMG, if you go for riflemen who have way more hp and dmg pair them with mortars and then just rush to t3 and go for gryphons you pretty much got him once you get gryphon, this really baffles me, keep up the work bro. +Dariusz Wyrzychowski I haven't fought against him but I know of him. As for Tier 2, ironically, this is where Humans are strongest... with the Casters. Spell Breakers/Priests/Sorcs are the staple of the human army. Mix in some Rifles & Morts & you're looking strong or Knights/Tank/Gryphon. The reason why Arcane Sanctum units are a must is because they synchronise with the Archmage's Brilliance aura so damn well & are able to stablize your army & consistently debuff the enemy's army which makes up for the lack of damage.

I used to play this game when i was in middle school/high school. Just recently bought both RoC and TFT again to begin playing once again. I've been using your training videos to improve my game and your advice is outstanding. Just need to practice now. My only question for you which might have been in the video but I missed is what is the order for spells with Archmage? I understand elemental then aura, but level three is it level 2 elemental or aura? and whish do you max out first while climbing to level six. I assume it is elemental but I want to make sure. Archmage: lvl 1: Water Elemental (lvl 1) lvl 2: Brilliance Aura (lvl 1) lvl 3: Water Elemental (lvl 2) lvl 4: Brilliance Aura (lvl 2) lvl 5: Water Elemental (lvl 3) lvl 6: Mass Teleport There are times where it is useful for the Human Player to buy 'Tome of Retraining' at the Goblin Merchant and retrain the hero skills to Blizzard/Brilliance Aura (again Blizz would be leveled first)... this is useful vs mid-late game scenarios against clumped up armies like Orc/Night Elf

When you get to Tier 3 you will typically still want a decent Tier 2 army Spellbreakers/Casters but you can add Knights to the composition for more solid melee damage & protection. Tanks are very useful vs Undead. Gryphons have their moments but they are more risky.

But, why would you want a tower this early? Farms should be a priority. You had way too much gold that could have been used to make footmen by the time you did your first creeping.

Hi there, nice videos. I've been playing wc3 since 2005 but never been very good. I recently started playing it again and now I kinda want to get a bit better. I know no one plays it anymore, but its still fun when you can get an online game. Now, here is my question. So I main human and I like to go for a fast expand. However, this really makes me fall behind in wood while having more gold than I can actually spend. By the time I have the wood for tech and start teching i have like 2k gold and more than enough footmen. Besides, I don't wanna get too many of them, because the chances are that my enemy would already have tier 2 units and would be able to easily deal with thse footmen, no matter how many I've got, thus geting free exp. So this golds just keeps on getting more and more and I just cannot get my wood high enough, no matter how many peasants I send to the treeline. In fact, after fnishing the expo i send all workers thet built it to wood and start then start teaining new ones to go to gold and I still cant get enough wood. Things start to balance out only when I start getting near tier 3, but before that I have way too much gold and too little wood so its kinda ineffective. What am I doing wrong? (I make sure to get the imrpoved lumber harvesting upgrd everytime and i make sure i have many workers to wood)

This is kinda the way it goes. Think of it this way, you want 8 Peasants on Wood no matter what. If you take an expansion and use 5 of those 8 peasants on wood, well then you only have 3 peasants on wood. You need to make sure that you have 8 Peasants on wood always. If you got the expansion and want to blow through that gold then get an extra 2 Peasants to bump it up to 10 on wood. Remember you can burn through gold by buying items from the shops to make use of it.

Thanks for the response. Now at least I know that I am not simply messing it up terribly. Besides, I do not follow any actual build order shown on tutorials, instead I follow some build that has somehow stuck with me and seems to be working relatively fine. Anyway, you are right about the item gold. That way I can really enhance my heroes and it gts especially sweet when i get the tri-hero while having enough money to equip all of them with mana and healing potions keeping them alive and energyzed for ages, especially since the am pd and mk complement each other so well. Just one more question if you feel like asnwering - Is it just me or the gryphs are kinda underpowered. I mean, they are the human tier 3 unir and they seem to be a little bit above medium air unit. Yeah, they are somewhat beefy and got nice dmg, but so do chims and frost wyrms. Also chyms and wyrms have that nice splash dmg without need of any upgrade and in order to actually get the gryphs to work properly you need to make two separate upgrades (the storm hammers and the animal training), just so that they could get a bit closer to what chyms and wyrms have without any upgrades. (yeah, i know gryphs are cheaper, but and faster and can attack both land and air, but still, are they really cost effective, cuz im not sure)

Gryphs are as you say, weaker, because they can attack both ground & air. They may seem a little lack luster and perhaps they are but I dare say they don't really need a buff. Human are strong enough as it is :)

Hey man, i got an, i guess a noob question, but, why don't you upgrade the damage and armor of your units ? And, do you research the "defend" ability of footman it's pretty usefull

+Matias Nedel I rarely research defend unless I need to hold out against Fiends whilst maintaining an expansion or trying an all in rush against towers. You will typically focus on getting to Tier 2 Spell Breakers asap so they 150gold/100wood is reserved for that. As for upgrades, they have a place, just typically after 50 food onwards. Most the time they aren't very noticeable since Heroes are the main bread & butter for damage output rather than units. In mirror matches, one might be more inclined to invest in upgrades for the advantage when mirrored units fight one another.

Aye. Units are more useful in case you don't get attacked but another ally does, whereas towers in your base can't help that ally much.

Archmage/Mountain King/Paladin Riflemen/Spell Breakers/Morts/Priests (maybe 1-2 sorcs) will generally deal with most army compositions nicely.

Paladin Aura is very effective with a large clump of units (Rifles) His heals are enough to keep the lowish hp Rifles alive Bloodmage 2nd is typical to cast Flamestrike & siphon mana from enemy heroes then feed that mana into the Paladin to continue healing It's best vs Undead
