This is a cooperate game right? Why does last hit matter then? Somebody is going to have the gold and help the defense, it doesn't have to be you. Focus efforts on the TD part instead. Or, if you are gonna micro, use the spells for max damage instead of stealing last kill, so that you can kill them faster and do more waves for more overall money. Given the layout of the map, I would say the four first defender should focus on splash damage, the four second defenders should focus on anti air, with air splash if that exists and finally, the two at the end should build for single target attacks. Furthermore, so that the waves do not arrive at the last defender at same time, two of the lanes (one of each of the last defender) should build large mazes while the other two smaller, higher tier based defense.
