3:55 The other manufacturers of csst say to bond to the brass fitting of the csst connection, NOT the black iron pipe...
@CO_MPАй бұрын
IFGC allows the bonding connection anywhere in the distribution to: black iron pipe or fitting (paint removed) or to a brass fitting, manifold, etc. that connects to CSST. Connections to CSST itself (directly to stainless steel or insulated jacket) is strickly prohibited and would be ineffective (read: dangerous and dumb!).

What happens when the bear metal rust after one week in a little water on it? That’s a Pond in clamp is attaching to.

does flexible gas appliance connectors need to be bonded like csst pipe
@WardManufacturing9 ай бұрын
A gas appliance connector isn't a part we sell, so we recommend referencing the code that the flex connector is made to, and following that.

No. Just like with arc-resistant CSST, the electrical connection to the appliance provides bonding to the EGS when using an appliance connector. However, if you use ANY non-arc-resistant rated CSST anywhere in your gas piping system, IFGC requires you to treat the entire gas piping system as if it were all CSST and bond it properly.

While at an IAEI continuing electrical education class maybe 8 years ago they told us that each SST company has their own way to bond their product.Pure bullshit! Should have one universal procedure to bond. If I had SST in my house I would bond it at each end. If lightning was to strike a 50' length at remote end would be afraid of possible fire ball.Glad they spec #6 copper. In our area since 1981 are not allowed to use aluminum wire for a ground or bonding.

Tie into the homes main panel. Just buy the max.

Some AHJs require additionally WF Max be bonded just like non-arc-resistant WF. The bonding connection can be made anywhere within the distribution (just not to the CSST itself) but must be shorter than 75ft to the EGS (assume near service panel). Tests were done with success to 100’; however, #6 AWG wire and 75ft or less are specified for extra safety margin. The best practice is to keep your bonding connection as short as possible to the EGS.
