7:27 not to be *that guy* but there is some older story content that technically has gotten sunsetted. the story of the earth relay being destroyed and then rebuilt not being directly told to new players, Alad V's dissappearance midway through the starchart and returning as an infested for no reason, and then suddenly returning all clean and fixed without a word. Were all handled through events early in the games timeline. Thankfully the overall story that has been told old war onwards hasn't suffered the same fate if my memory serves.

the Alad V thing is actually even worse than that. Story wise, him becoming infested and cured happens before the second dream. But the actual quest isn't unlocked until after. So you have second dream where he has the scar, acts friendly for no reason, and owes you a favour for something that is never explained. Then after that he becomes infested out of nowhere and gets cured off screen since the event is gone.

Those are minor things. Imagine the new war, second dream, intro campaign, all the weapons that are less than a year old, and all the warframe quests (like Octavia,narrow, mirage, etc) all being sunset. That’s what destiny is like. Warframe has sunset a few things over the decade, destiny has sunset major stories and entire inventories of weapons.

They saw the potential and specialness that Warframe could offer and man they’ve kept delivering time and time again. Just a note about 11:15. Cyte is obtainable through gameplay AFTER completing 1999, which is the last quest in a looooong chain of story quests and account progression. New players are looking at 150 to maybe 200 hours before they can farm his components. You can of course buy him from the shop for the (farmable) premium currency, but I would personally wait. There are soooo many other frames you'll have the opportunity to try before he even becomes available

Exactly, well put. I would also add that, I see this type of thing brought up at times as a manipulation tactic to get people to pay. However, I would argue it's not much different than, say.. playing an ARPG like Diablo or Path of Exile, you're not going to be drowning in OP uniques and gear 10 minutes in, you'll probably need to play a while before the best gear drops, and in those games, it's largely random. Here, OP frames like Cyte and Dante even have pity systems attached, so if your RNG ends up being trash, you're still moving TOWARD getting them without paying. TLDR: Warframe respects player time, in however they want to spend it, it's one of the best aspects.

the qol in the hex bounties are fantastic! In every mission, you have caches that'll give you a guaranteed arcane when find a way to open them, you have distinct places for trasures, they have a distinct sound, standing you collect from bounties are fast to earn, the wide amount of treasures allows you to increase your standing with the Hex even more, many symbols have been increased in size, different shapes of health bars allow you to identify stronger enemies quicker, and there's so much more! THIS is how I want every other bounty and standing farm system to be for the other main factions! I can't wait to see what more they'll add!

Warframe has always pushed for differing content that it provides, it has many types of weapons, many types of warframes with many types of abilities. It has been an open world game, a grind game, a souls game, a rich story game, a power fantasy game, and most recently, a dating sim. Digital Extremes really out-do themselves being able to provide this much content. And for me to realise this, all it took was one sentence and one word. "Dream. I have been in this game since the early days. I started playing right before fortuna dropped. And i originally played on pc and was hooked for years until i got my own console like 3-4 years ago then i had to wait until account merge to continue the hundred hour playthrough which was years so i made a second account still checking on my other account to see if it was still open. Now here in 2024 im in the endgame with so much left to do aka kuva liches, steel path and other things. I've been playing since 2018, and I have to say that when I first entered the game, one of the highlights for me was the universal helpfulness from all of the players. Literally, in all my time of pretty consistent playing (I have 1.5k hours on it lol) I have not met ONE toxic or even mildly bothersome person. But also, I love the many absolutely different parts of the Warframe worlds. Going into Cetus for the first time was wild, because it felt like I was stepping into a new, real culture. And the ambiance of the Plains of Eidolon was fantastic too. If I would endorse Warframe and DE for anything, it'd be world building and design, and gameplay mechanics. It's so innovative with everything it does, and it's such an extremelg huge display of creative expression. The ONLY thing I can say about it that isn't high praise, is that it doesn't lead you along very well. If you don't know what you're building, or farming, there isn't much direction or place to go, except for the main story quests. It's a "figure it out yourself" and "make your own path" kind of game. So you need a different kind of mindset and resolve than with other games.

I'm so excited to start Warframe 1999. I left the game back in 2016/2017 when I was starting to get burnt out (Almost had every frame and prime at that point, and most weapon blueprints). I said I'd take a little break. It was a long break. Two weeks ago I decided to hope back in during the 1999 hype and have been loving the story/lore and buildup to 1999. New War was so epic. I just finished whispers in the walls yesterday and I can't wait to see what happens. I needed this gamr after feeling some burnout from FF14 raiding and feeling disappointed with Destiny over the years.

Swapped to warframe from Destiny and loved it the movement, the heavily involved developers who actually continually put out content, a fanabse that’s welcoming (I was struggling to get a really good multi shot mod and someone gave me every multi shot mod and thousands of end for free out of kindness), and the story which is amazing also you have NUMBEROUS GAMES IN ONE with a multiplayer pirate ship game made which will make you feel like Jack sparrow and seal team 6, the normal missions and star chart, open world, a rogue like, and even the mentioned dating sim

I went into 1999 thinking it'd be just a Dark Sector vibes in Warframe with uninteresting Warframes that had faces with a slapped on romance system I would not be interacting with. Didn't even really follow development, I haven't been much interested in the development of the game since Railjack, even though I played it a lot, Railjack killed my interest to religiously watch the development. So.. 1999 streams, there was a devstream before 1999, the one where they showcased bits of the upcoming release. I was ""watching it""(having it play on my second screen not really playing attention to it lol) and I stepped away from my PC when they showcased the.. tongue. Before release I was joking romancing Eleanor inbetween going on about how dumb of an idea a romance system is, I only learnt about the tongue then lol Update comes out, I gotta play as my Drifter, I hate it... I finish the quest in 2 hours and I was angry that the "Uninteresting Warframes that had faces" died as the quest ended, because I grew to like them. They all die, the camera zooms to the Drifter, requiem symbols show up behind with the sound of bells slowly getting louder, "he's gonna loop time to save them" and then I'm looking at the Quest end scene reading "shattered corpses of the Hex", I wanted more. The romance system I wouldn't be interacting with became one of my favorite systems with all the insane lore dumps. The horny messages are a bonus. Since the release I've spent about an hour customizing my Drifter beyond "looks like my Operator, but worse" and now looks better than my Operator.. and I now use the Drifter instead of the Operator.. I spent 5 hours decorating the Backroom, decorating player housing in games has been the biggest waste of my time in my eyes, and now I was doing exactly that... Went 180 on 1999 and now I legit want more content in the 1999 setting, especially story.

I was in one of Jez's recent streams and he was discussing with chat how abilities had taken precedent over gunplay, and how it should be "abilities complementing gunplay." Chat was agreeing, and I commented how it would be nice if they had a kind of GUN-based subclass that specifically tailors everything to enhancing your gunfire, stability, aiming, precision damage, stuff like that. Other people jumped in with "yeah, like a 'kinetic' subclass," and Jez and others really took to it. Of course, what does DE do? They literally release "Gunframe," who's 1st ability lets you scan enemies and shoot through walls, 2nd ability generates elemental ammo packs, his 3 goes invisible and stays that way with headshot kills, and his 4 is LITERALLY an extra gun, on top of the 2 he already carries (3 if you count maxing Solaris rep on Fortuna and access your Archgun as a deployable heavy weapon). Everything about him screams "please use guns for everything, my abilities will make that even sweeter." It truly is sad that Destiny is a "first person shooter" and most people who play it hold tightly to that as a core tenet...meanwhile, Bungie has had so little ability to develop that aspect because of PvP, because of trying to be a "space wizard MMO or whatever," because they lost the plot of how to develop a shooter, that they can't do wild things like this.

The thing is that major Warframe updates recently (or maybe since inception damn near) are just the exact same thing every time with a fresh coat of paint. For an update we’ll get new tile-sets, and I say that because the mission types don’t change too much (Zariman was actually different some), only the tiles do. We’ll also get a new faction/syndicate, which functions exactly like every other faction. Then new weapons that are unassuming, new frames that are not game changing. And this is a problem because the meta doesn’t outpace the fact that you just shred enemies irrespective of the frame. A new grind; they function the exact same as every other grind- get new resource, craft new items, red crit explosions like a supernova in missions, get MR, and now wait until the next update to do the EXACT same thing again. This would ALL be fine if the quest that came with the update was actually interesting (they are in my opinion, just some quest aren’t) and the writing wasn’t absolutely terrible. The technical aspect of the writing is honestly horrific, try following it without reading online wikis or watching recap videos. And also DE changed the gameplay loop a bit, DE has tried this but the community is so closed minded. But at the same time DE doesn’t stick with the new mechanics and doesn’t flesh them out enough to engage the community properly- Railjack, Duviri, Kahl, etc I still absolutely love this game it just gets harder and harder for me to keep playing it. Especially when they never change anything fundamentally while telling us it’s such an “amazing, game changing update!!” Even if not exactly and explicitly. Also sorry for my sloppy writing if it breaks your brain lol. And listen, I get DE can’t change such fundamentals, it’s asking too much, I just wish they had a magic wand that could fix every inconsistency, bad gameplay loop, forgotten mechanic, etc.

Part of it is working out the technical debt left by previous releases that were too ambitious like Railjack or the open worlds, even Duviri. Do you remember all the feature previous leadership said RJ would have like open world being linked to it? It never came because that was unrealistic and it was unplayable at release. It feels like the past few updates have expanded upon while working back to fixing that in between, I will agree the standing system has run its course and we need innovation in areas like that.

1999 did feel like they want the Hex to work as a center for personal and more intimate story telling by having a cast to work eith for whats coming next.

Tbh I love Warframe The devs are so good❤ Steve was good but Rebacca and Pablo have done MARVELS FOR THE GAME ❤❤❤❤ I’ve been playing for years and won’t stop. I would like to add that when they say I would see you “in game” that’s true 😂 you might randomly see the studio head Rebecca or the devs in the wild, you can identify them by a logo that can be only displayed in their name as a dev account.

Tbh i played everyday since 1999 came out. Before that i was only getting the daily reward. I got the full standing and farmed everything. Now i ll probably not gonna play that much again but i can easily say that the update was wonderful and i couldnt believe that i gave my lot of time and plat to the cosmetics after i bored so much it was unbelievable 😂

I remember downloading WarFrame from Steam when it came out, I was looking for some sort of Space shooter like Mass Effect. I played it for a little bit but ultimately stopped to play something else. Every year since this game always comes across my feed and I think it's about time I gave it another go.

For the longest time I played both destiny and warframe. And through out that time I can say I’ve always had fun on warframe no matter what happened. While destiny was always so sour.

1999 is not what i wanted. its great, and the gemini skins are awesome, but i was hoping for another open world or more content to do. there is literally nothing for me to do . hopefully the litches will give me plenty to do when they come out. The whole dating sim is not for me. Its boring imo. i got them all to best friend status so ive seen a lot of the conversations. its just boring pointless conversations. But i will say i love that DE is not scared to try new ideas. It is always refreshing to see new ideas every year

That seems to be collateral to them delaying the Infested lich update and whatever RJ would have done to it. I hope that when they release it can stand on its own as a big expansion but that indeed gutted some of the content for this release. Hopefully with the team getting more on track with reworking the stuff that needs to be updated, we can get the releases without issues.

If you follow the player trend, pre new war the updates were sometimes years apart and was a hustle due to Steve taking in too ambitious things. Post New war at around 2020 WF has been in a strong position with the new team leading the game.

game is great. just wish 1999 was more accessible for new players and players like me who came back after a hiatus. they should have an option where if you are a new account or account has been inactive for at least a year.. there is a catchup mechanic of some kind that makes it easier to go through the story and catch up gameplay wise.

Warframe was basically my game to go to once Destiny died, and tbh I’m sorry I didn’t ditch Destiny sooner, this game is amazing. Destiny is still great when it’s actually a good game, but I feel like now that Final Shape is over and we’ve finished the story, it’s a good time to move on

​@@jacksheldon8566They do tho, the devs have personal accounts that don't have any of the developer given stuff on them. Its why they reworked Liches to be a lot more streamlined and let you see what you're getting, eliminating the weapon from the roster if you decline it.

@@kiwi3085 kuva lich is still as grindy as before. Only difference is that you get to know beforehand the weapon you pick, it doesn't propose the same weapon 2 times in a row and the final boss fight is a railjack mission.

In regard to you new frame being strong comment. In the years ive played warframe that is usually the case. Most times (not all) that a new frame gets brought out its overpowered and they then dial it back with some balance nerfs a little later. I think this is intentional to get people to stay interested and playing a new frame that players end up then buying cosmetics for to generate revenue for the game to keep the lights on and the servers powered.

Thinking to start playing warframe, what will it be like starting a fresh character? Is it not worth it at this point in time consiering how long the game has been out already?

Go for it if you want to play the game for its gameplay and story/universe. The biggest downside is the crafting times for items. You can in essence get anything gameplay related for free but it just will take some time. Even the premium currency only items (being some cosmetics) can be obtained through ingame means and theres a trading syatem in game where you can sell items or such to other players for Platinum in return. The biggest husstle is the initial 40 hours or so of content that works almost like a tutorial for all things in the game, until you reach a particular quest called Natah.

I wouldn’t say everything. Really prefer the way the action, feel, and gameplay felt in the demo. Felt a bit different from the warframe we were use to, and in a great way.
