Blighty and I take a look at Warframe - an open beta stage free to play game recently added to the Steam catalogue which mixes acrobatic sword and gun play together for a pretty fun experience comparable to PSO and other games.

Even though this game came out in 2013, there’s just something about early Warframe that just screams “mid-2000s” that gave it that charm.

I think it’s the omnipresent green filter, evocative of fallout 3 and other games of the time. FOV and lighting also give a more claustrophobic feeling as opposed to modern warframe.

Man I really hope Warframe 1999 is basically gonna play like this. It'd be a good way to allow newer players to experience something like this while giving ogs some nostalgia. Makes sense as well given the update is basically a callback to Dark Sector, which early Warframe was very similar to.

what i kiled more of the beta was how gruesome it was, the swords had a clunk and meaty hits, the enemy gurgling with blood, the guns having an realistic sound, it was fun

I think most of those sounds are still there, if you try really hard you can still distinguish them. But the game become such a constant sensory overload that everything just blends together into an unrecogniseable mess.

The frames here feel like actual suits of power armor, with proper weight behind every movement. Now they are merely shells, barely containing a living node of paradoxical void energy. One that has little respect for things such as g-force, gravity, and the general limits of realspace. Mastering the movement system really feels like you're becoming less and less trapped by the fact that the frame is a physical object.

I dunno why the hek (see what I did there?) the algorithm is pushing this video now but I gotta say, I think I prefer this stealthy more deliberate gameplay, with lower power frames and less but slightly tougher enemies. This game stopped being a space ninja game a looong time ago and I want that back. I know it's basically a zero chance thing, but I wish 1999 has this exact feeling and pace to its gameplay.

@@slymaz I actually started to play Warframe because of Destiny. At the time when the dark below released after we done the raid on normal and hard the game got boring with nothing to do so my friend downloaded the game and asked me to do it also that was back at the start of 2015 and playing the game since. I do get burnouts time to time so I take breaks from the game. Yeah Destiny was an addictive game for sure, my most played game of all time. Too bad Destiny 2 was Destiny 1 all over again but worse. Dont play it at all and not going back to it ever.

Nah the animations definitely don't look natural here, they are just way slower. Try running no melee attack speed and NOT mashing the space bar when you get knocked down and the game will still look mostly the same. Also warframe has always been just bullet jumping thru maps, except we had coptering instead. This is what the first few hours of warframe still looks like to this day, gameplay speed wise anyway.

That's one thing a lot of people forget about old school warframe is the game had a completely different *vibe* while playing, visually it was a lot darker, murkier, even on corpus tilesets. I actually kind of miss that. With how bright and well lit and colorful everything is it kinda reduces that "super far into the future and everything is shitty and sucks." vibe it used to have.

This game used to have so much impact with anything, today you gotta grind weeks or months to feel this exact type of impact... I loved the old basic Lato and Braton feeling, i remember when i unlocked the Strun shotgun it felt like a monster of a gun. Wow,en 2013 Warframe ya era un juegazo...al menos el 2015/2016 ya la MK1 Braton era básica pero con una potencia decente,aquí en Latinoamérica no tuvimos la Lato,tuvimos la MK1 furis que era levemente inferior...la Skana es la vieja confiable como espada al empezar,el bastón es difícil de modear al comienzo, Excalibur es lo mejor para empezar,yo lo elegí... Bullet jump was a glitch in a game that they made a part of the game was

@@LaCream973 Not a glitch, unironically it was more of an unintended feature. Slide attacks carried a lot of momentum and if you spammed it enough you could practically fly around maps like a helicopter, hence "coptering". Players liked the fast movement and since DE was patching it, they made bullet jumping as an alternative.
