Thoughts on Koumei? She's so Random with decree's and status spreading that it feels a bit off at times. She is just OK but with decrees she obviously grows in power.

I've been really enjoying her! Mostly, though, I'm excited by the directions that the dev team is taking. There is an exceptional level of polish to Koumei that I feel is raising the standard for the game. New UI things, her own unique CC animations (which are fantastic), and the implementation of broader mechanics like the decrees. She even has new footstep audio if you listen closely. Not to mention that her animations across the board feel a cut above. It leaves me continually excited for the state of the game right now and the future in the hands of this new generation of leadership. Looking forward to more innovation from one of the best dev teams in gaming.

I came back to this game a a couple months back and all of the updates that have come out since I came back have been amazing. The quality of life changes especially make the whole experience so much better. It feels like any time I start to feel annoyed about a feature in the game, an update almost instantly comes out to fix it.

It's been a while since they've added a frame that actually has a strong identity or place in the game. Koumei is no different. She's not even going to be a go-to pick for endurance missions

That's not gonna go over well with people. Her abilities needs some massive stat boosts like triple quadruple. That 4th needs to pull the enemies apart when they get strung up. Now that's identity. Just not boring run and gun. But if you like her by all means play her.

Rebecca made a point during Tokyo Game Show about how the dice rolls were lucky "added benefits." What that says to me (and I'm yet to play her to see if this is how it feels) is that her abilities and passive and general approach should be good, but getting lucky just adds more on top. The decrees being tied to challenges presents agency to the player and, I saw some people saying "there should be a pity to bad dice rolls," I feel like the challenges are what that should be. Ultimately, I think you're probably right that she'll likely feel a tad awkward in shorter engagements, though they did say she was more tailored to longer endurance type content. And as a related side note, I feel like Duviri Experience runs tend to feel better when they're longer as well. Like, a lot of people don't like Steel Path Duviri, but I find few things in the game as satisfying as stacking 20-30 decrees and one-hit slicing up Dax in Duviri as a result of all that extra power. I'm imagining squads stacking four Koumeis and seeing who can perform the best.

That said, if you're surviving purely via shield gating, that's a whole other discussion about how that also needs to be changed as shield gating was supposed to be an emergency buffer from being one-shot, not a dedicated screen-melting method of immortality for endurance fiends who think "the only way to play" is staying in a single mission for hours just to see 9999 over enemy heads.

Getting Koumei really isn't that much of a grind, but if you're running her mission a lot it is trivialized by Khora. If you have any decent amount of range and a lot of duration, Khora can put a strangledome at each defense circle and cc/kill all the enemies away. I was able to consistently finish the mission in under 3 minutes. Spoiler mode can pick up another offering so you can carry both at once when they finish.

Limbo is actually a 1m build now, like Umbra and other Quest warframes where building them is a requirement! But koumei's 24 hour build timer is definitely an improvement, and she's interesting in how she's not great for short missions and the unlucky, but clearly built for making endurance missions scale.

I feel like a counter to the 2.5 minute cooldown could be whenever you roll a triple 6 it resets the cooldown timer. Maybe strength increases the odds of getting higher dice rolls or increases the chances of getting rare decrees

I am kinda surprised that she dosnt have some kind of loaded dice gimmick or a slight of hand. I used to play warhammer (now I couldn’t afford to play it even if I wanted to they charge so much for models) and my luck with dice rolls was way above average even before I sometimes cheated (I only cheated against people I also knew were cheating or if they were really cocky and needed to be brought down a peg or two or if it was way too funny like one friend I used to have we would have a cheat off against each other the game was more about who could spot the others cheats but back on topic) but if I was in the mood to tilt the dice in my favour it’s ever so easy to grab a few extra dice as you are clearing away the misses and I wasn’t even that skilled(I know a few people that are part of the magic circle and they are scary), someone that’s known as the gambling frame should be really good and making it so the house always wins. Maybe this will be added with mods for her later but it really should be part of her base kit.

Honestly, I find it's easier to think of her as having an unmodifiable ~3.55% chance to "crit" with each of her abilities, rather than tricking yourself into believing the Triple 6 effect of each is the end-goal. If you play Koumei expecting to get loads of Triple 6s, then you're basically gambling with the expectation that you'll leave with more than you put in.

From a vet point of view, our weapons are usually so powerful they triviliaze most non-high-endurance runs anyway,. In EDA the weapon selection usually has more impact on how easily the run will go than the frame, outside of some top-tier nuke or sustain frames like Saryn or Wisp or Citrine, and if you roll an Incarnon weapon it's gg, it hardly even matters which one. If you're desperate there is little stopping you from subsuming Roar or Nourish or Ecliplse on every single frame you own and just steamrolling through content that way. Because of that, the warframe you pick mostly defines the flavour of the game, and not your power level, which is then just down to personal preference. And honestly? Koumei is very spicy and I love it. It's the gambling fantasy of lowest lows and highest highs, all at the mercy of a dice roll. Every time you cast an ability it is like a handhsake with the devil and I don't want DE to turn her into a "safe" frame by giving you a way to prevent bad dice rolls, you can already reject Decree challenges by hold-casting her 2nd ability and thats enough. The decrees stay for the duration of the mission so you can obviously snowball in longer runs, but for shorter runs the challenge condition can be really easy or really harsh, and give good or mediocre reward. It feels more like opening rivens than Duviri decrees, but also gives the goal and progression flow of chasing nightwave challenges. It's a huge serotonin dispenser, as befits the gambling warframe, the fact that she can land anywhere between mediocre and absurdly powerful during the mission is kind of irrelevant for 99% of content we have in game right now. Even if you are not a gambling addict (I play 3 gacha games simultaneously, judge me as you will), I think she is strong enough thanks to the primiing, CC and decent survivability in her kit. You can play her and completely ignore what happens with her dice, you'll just occassionally notice that instead of one enemy you CC'd more enemies, and that you gain a period of invulnerability when casting her 3. Statuses are strong but if you are actively shooting and killing enemies with your weapons it hardly matters how many random statuses they happen to have during the 1.2s they are alive on your screen.

Maybe even simpler challenges for high dice roll. Like, if you get 6 twice/total roll is above X its like"Do X kills/spend X energy/ take X health or energy orbs" If you get six once /total roll is above Y the pool of challenges changes/adds some trickier ones, like current parkour kills(except wall latch, this must gtfo), maybe kills affected by some status effects/certain weapons. And so on, you get the idea.

My luck gambling has always sucked. The RNG does not like me, but Koumei is fun. I like the powers! Unfortunately the decree one is a bit distracting in missions with objectives, so I am going to have two very different builds: One build for survival that keeps decrees because the challenges can be fun. One build for other things, like syndicate dailies, with a power subsumed over the decree power, because on short missions with objectives the decree challenges are a distraction(and, my luck is horrible). Did you know that the power can debuff you before you succeed at the challenge or were you lucky enough you didn’t get that? I didn’t like her signature primary for the challenges; bring something better for wall latch or aerial kills. Anyway, I had fun playing Koumei even with my horrible luck. Her feel, sound effects, and animations are all really fun for me.

So as someone who has played with this frame a bit something that people should try is slapping on fleeting expertise. Hear me out. Her threads immediately apply the statuses immediately, instead of repeatedly over and over again like Lavos. Her second has no timer for her challenges, and her buffs are permanent. Also her fourth has an internal cooldown that does not allow her to spam her fourth until a set amount of time, which can be fixed just by dropping her duration under 100. Also like her first ability her fourth immediately applies all statuses.

the 24hr build time on koumei absolutely needs to be replicated across every frame in the game, it is one of the best QOL changes that they've added to warframe in years. If i was going to suggest a change to koumei that wouldn't make it too powerful, I'd say that the dice rolls need a pity system per ability. The chances of you rolling quintuple sixes is something extremely low like 0.013%, or one in ~7750 rolls, so I feel like a reasonable change to make would be to either load the dice corresponding to power strength or every time that you don't get a quintuple six roll, they weigh the probability higher and higher until you get all sixes then reset the dice. Realistically, Koumei's abilities on the lucky roll is not that much better than other good frames that don't have to rely on a 1 in 7000 rng roll, so they've gotta change something if they don't want Koumei to be the next Yareli. Also, if they're going to let you get decrees in normal missions then they need to give you an option of what decrees you can get. Nobody is going to bother with things like wall latch kills if the reward is the decree that makes you drop a frost bomb when you roll or the one that randomly leaves behind a tiny toxin cloud while you're actively attacking enemies. If you had the option of doing like 15 wall latch kills in exchange for melee attacks hitting twice or get 20 headshots in exchange for reloading increasing the next shot's damage, then people might have a reason to use the ability how it is designed to be used. 150 seconds to re cast the ability is also a bit insane considering how many warframe mission don't even last long enough to cast that ability twice. I think they got a bit spooked with the Dante update where Dante and several other frames became insane for a week or two, and now they're releasing some frames in a distinctly mid state so they can buff the frame over the next year into a usable state.

@@Nephale True, but it still takes 36 hours to craft a frame which is something like 125 plat to rush, then you need frame slots, forma, reactors, etc to use it so its not like they're eliminating a route of monetization. That 3 day craft time is something that has been one of the top complaints from new players to veteran players since this game released so its about time that they finally fix that issue, they've probably lost more money due to new players leaving because of that 3 day craft time than they've made by selling plat to rush it anyways.

Pretty interesting frame, I only got to use her in Duviri but it was a fascinating experience. I think her 2 decrees could be a bit more varied in the challenges, but altering the decrees and challenges available is an option for adjustment. I think there are some interesting potentials for augments as well. Neat frame. Now I return to farming Fate Pearls :)

Slight correction at 8:15 - All of her abilities do get affected by the dice, while playing her last night I rolled low on her second ability and the challenge had an extra parameter, had to get kills BUT they had to be affected by toxin as they died for it to count, really cool frame but I wish the challenge was a hold cast and she had another ability tied to that button. Feels like her kit is almost entirely one and four. Really like her nonetheless.

Well designed frame I think, since it is not OP at low levels, but fun, and has potential in late game if you want to scale her. Won't replace my existing favorite frames, but I wish she was a starter when I started playing.

Casting speed + Str is your friend with Koumei. Get her range to 145% and you're fine. Koumei is dangerously strong, 3rd ability aside. Her status spreads are lethal. A lot of creators here do not know what they're talking about honestly. Build her right and she is tons of fun, her 3 needs some tweaking, mainly the internal cooldown after a healing charm gets consumed, which really shouldn't be a thing. She is easily my favorite frame right now

To take koumei to the next level, try a heavy slam melee build. Especially with the new galvanised mods (coil and steel mostly), then add afflictions. Afflictions boost applies to any status on the target. So set ip your threads, and go wokong mode. I like the samptoes and exec mostly. Arca titron i use for influence, but doesn't have the same interaction as above. Coil is amazing, finally a mod to surpass corrupt charge

I'm so torn about her. I love her design, but I wish she'd ramp up quicker. Though I am really glad to see DE do new interesting things. Only thing I can really think of is maybe a "stacked dice" augment mod? Where always roll a 4 or higher. I wouldn't want it to just make you roll 6's all the time, that would negate half the gimmick of her.

She was certainly a surprise. When I first tried her out I couldn't help but feel she was weak and clunky and that any changes would likely be good changes. But either ironically or just expectedly, she got a night and day difference when she hits level 15+ When I first got her I naturally modded for strength and range with a little duration so that I could attempt to take her into mid-high level survival. When she was first used it was weak performance and what felt like slightly buggy behavior but after leaving that first mission she was rank 14 and on her next mission there was a sudden spike in her effectiveness that shocked me. I personally say, weird for sure but is good maybe great when you get comfortable or good at using her.

Personally, I'm really enjoying the gameplay loop of Koumei. I understand 100% why the RNG factor turns you away though. I think the fact that her focus on status effects reminds me of the Invoker archetype from Remnant 2 really made me enjoy her. Her second ability also got me to actually think about how to wall latch and kill things from the air in optimal ways which no other Warframe with normal movement has really made me do before. There's only 2 things I want which are a unique dodge roll, the normal one doesn't fit her, and more super bonuses for rolling certain number combinations (444, all dice even, all dice odd, 1-2-3-4-5)

As a seasoned gacha enjoyer it's always safe to assume you will never roll high, and celebrate whenever you do hit the jackpot. Took mine out for a first spin on Armatus SP and it's pretty fun, her S2 definitely feels underwhelming if you're not hoarding a bunch of decrees built over time but when I humor the idea of slapping other abilities over it for shorter missions, the rest of her kit doesn't feel like it's suited for that either. S4 cast animation is a little too long for my liking but it should be a great learning experience for new players that you can be locked into an animation. I think it would be cool if she gets an augment for her S1 that pulls back all deployed strings toward her to force more status procs, anything that makes it more proactive than hoping they run into it (which to be fair, happens a fair bit already)

Ine ofnthe only times i actually love the RNG!! They did an amzing job making something that feels likes its more for the game than just the players. I feel like JJK Hakari and when i hit that jackpot it feels very rewarding. My only pick is, vets NEED a continuous high scaling mission type that just really pushes us with our builds. Loke Deep Archimedean but and endless run with all the steonger variantes and mini bosses. Can call its eternalism missions.

Got the acquisition mission down to less than 5 minutes on Steel Path with random crews, Nova or Revenant for me were best 2 Novas I think was that absolute best. I liked Koumei a lot more than you did I think she'll be great for Defense Interception and Survival and better in groups than solo. Streamed for 8.5 hours yesterday hardest thing about the update was getting 3 Splendid Mergoo simply because I didn't know you are REQUIRED to use pheromones. but that's different story.

Frames like koumei and citrine that can proc corrosive (koumei more than citrine because I think she can do it without needing archon continuity) even if it's slow I still think 2 greens for full strip can be fine if you have a weapon that also does corrosive. Then you're not relying on only the abilities for it, but they can still help. I like it more than 2 greens on chroma. Though I guess you could do the same thing with him....I kind of forgot he has his breath weapon thing. Plus koumei has that corrosive shot decree

This comment cut into my soul lol. I played Nyx for her fashion to, and did everything I could to make her work out in normal play. The new Nova skin though, and her rework, has gotten me playing her again though. She's really fun now with an Antimatter Drop build.

Nyx is the rework I’m most excited for. Valkyr though…. I one shoot base SP with her claws. She’s not the best, having only 2 real abilities and all, but she is a solid melee frame.

I did the math from when I farmed her out. On average, I got around 15 pearls per run, and each run took about 4 minutes (I used Gauss to speed through). You need a total of 432 pearls to both purchase all of her blueprints and craft said blueprints. Assuming you get 15 pearls per run and you complete each run in 4 minutes, you need 29 runs at just under 2 hours total.

She ok. I love the design, sound design and the theme. Just the triple 6 is quite rare and I'd like her to do damage more than be a glorified nukor. Trying to figure out how to make my huras a killing machine. Not sure if the kubrow changes were enough if I'm honest. Considering they are single target for the most part, the claw stats are very conservative imo. Do still have to get and try some of the status mods(and a couple others) tho so hopefully there'll be something in there.

Koumei's concept reminds me of Nidus. She can become incredible with time, sure- But given the 120 second cooldown timer between decrees, and most missions being around 10-20 minutes, she'll be mostly wasted on most content in the game that isn't Endless. Of the endless types, she'll profit most on missions she isn't expected to defend something else, just herself- So, mostly just survivial.

Move the 2 cooldown to cast instead of on completion or drop max to 60sec or make cooldown effected by duration. 3 should make hit chance moddable. Maybe her 4 should apply crit as well to differentiate from her 1 more or have it add crit on 1 and 4 interactions. Abilities should be effected by crit too

The max cooldown on 2 is probably fine, they just need to make it ramp up less with each cast so you can get more decrees out early without insane snowballing in endless runs. Also I kinda like cooldown on completion, it rewards skill instead of just giving you a decree at set intervals. But I guess having it on cast would be less stressful Idk what the point would be in making her abilities crit, it's not like they deal meaningful damage anyway. I mean I guess if you play normal star chart and build ability strength, but like, you can already do that. For steel path it would just give you some pretty yellow numbers to look at lmao

I feel like she's incredibly strong, but I also maxed out range and went for Duration, completely sacrificing my Strength since she just doesn't scale well off it. Even in shorter missions, she outputs insane damage since her abilities prime everything for your CO weapons to nuke. I've mostly been running Ocucor on her and it's been a lot of fun. I really think running high Strength on her is just a trap. It's so much better to use those mod slots for utility/survivability.

When I heard the description of the 4th all I thought these is a long run frame, but then when they made it basically an early player frame didn't make sense to me, you ain't getting the best of her on a regular mission you need to go for long, not sure if when you are on open world the decrees stay forever because that would be another way to cranck it up for her just farming non stop becoming super OP

Did an hour run with her myself. 1 forma and much weaker weapons, same arcanes. She felt ... Weak. And the randomness wasn't even the problem, or maybe it was. Her 1st ability feels very underwhelming. At times it works amazing, crowd control and CO enabler, others I see enemies with no statuses just stand there. The 4th ability felt more like what the 1st ability should have been, because if feels a lot more consistent. The omamori are great idea, but they are a 50/50, without applying to allies, and not providing anything else then a chance at healing the damage you took. If they also mitigated statues and applies to allies, that would make the 50/50 nature bearable. The best part of her kit are the decrees. Some of them get kind of silly, like "kill 45 enemies while sliding" - it's doable, but I had 3+ hour survivals where I would get less than that. Overall, she is not useless, but she falls into the "dagath,kullervo,wukong,yateli,sevagoth,qorvex,nidus" camp of frames. Frames that contribute just enough to the team to say they exist, but I'd rather have a nova or citrine.

I think basing her around a game mechanic that literally changes the game may have been a bad move. Decrees are literally designed to carry even bad builds through higher end content. But that mechanic made sense for a rougelite gamemode. Now what i want to know is the spawning of the threads. Ive had instances of casting once and then again, and the first cast completely disappeared. And other time where like half the treads of the first cast stuck around. But i cant seem to find any consistency on how to maximize the area covered.

Koumei just needs some tweaks and buffs imo. Decree challenge times take too long (seriously DE nearly THREE minutes?!) it already doesn't do much in short to medium length missions but that cool down only makes it worse on said missions. The cooldown is not very relevant in very long endurance missions. So it fails as any kind of stop gap. Her 1 is kind of overshadowed by her 4 doing basically the sams thing with the status priming but it also has CC and can go in a 360. Also the 1 breaks when you use max range. It will show the strings initially but the ones closest to you vanish then they only show much further away. It works fine up to a certain range then it does this. Power strength should be able to influence dice roll chance. DE can make it take a lot of it but at least have it do something so we have that option as stats besides range barely do much for her. Her 3 can be gamed by falling off the map as it resets your stacks allowing you to cast it again and again until you get the invincibility. That aside the 3 should not have a cool down between when it kicks in or not. Let it keeo protecting you until it is out of stacks then recast. Its a chance to do it anyway so why does it also need a cool down ontop. Her 4 is her least buggy, and well done ability. CCs, primes, can get some nasty range it's great. Only weakness it has is being unable to effect targets immune to CC. That is the only time her 1 has any real place in the kit. To do what the 4 does with priming but to a CC immune target. The 1 should linger much longer and enemies should take both damage and suffer even more status as they move through the web and it should slow them while doing so. I'd also make it a circle rather than a line so you can also put it on defense objectives. Her passive is fine. If they wanted to buff that they could make it always affect all three of her weapons but idk if that would be "too op". As someone who has been playing a unhealthy amount of koumei as she is one of the most fun frames i have ever played, this is what I'd do to make her better.

Her 3 feels like the best one to change. Yes, it’s a good survival ability. But adaptation, plus some good decrees makes it unnecessary imo. Swap that out for stuff like nourish for the extra energy regen will let you spam more abilities. I’m very much in love with her scaling because that’s always the best type of frame. She’s very good.

I like her design and 3/4 of her abilities. Her 2nd Ability (the one that gives her decrees for doing a random challenge), is a bit of the odd one that I don't like. Mainly because the challenges offered can either be doable, easy, or just ridiculous. Like one of them said to eliminate 50 enemies while Airborne, all while my energy gets drained....that's not cool at all :/

Koumei is fun.. I just wish her subsume was her decree ability. Would it be powerful? Yeah absolutely. Diminish it with a doubled cooldown for one. For two.. Subsume roar, eclipse, gloom, etc etc.. already exist. I just want to put it on my excalibur so I can get the funny melee build while mindlessly mowing through enemies on long-form mission types.

Her decree ability being the subsume would be insanely fun, but also extremely OP and probably become the meta for Endurance runs. To balance it, they shouldn't increase the cooldown, but instead just remove the chance of getting a rare decree and make it so you can't get the same decree twice (decrees cannot become stronger). Also remove rare decrees from their pool. For Koumei specifically, her 2nd ability should allow power strength to affect the chances of her getting a rare mod (200% power strength = 15% -> 30%)
