Nidus is my favourite warframe in the game so far. The reason for this is not only because of its abilities but also its story quest. When Lotus and Ergo Glast were arguing what we should do after rescuing Neewa, I can see the huge room for thinking and discussion behind the whole quest. For Lotus, she stood for personal freedom and the right of survival while Ergo Glast considered the meaning of the tradition in that specific civilisation. These two points of view actually inspired me and helped me to conduct an amazing discussion session in a presentation in one of my university courses which was about cultures and cultural theories. In that discussion session, our group raised a question "If there are traditions that violate social norms, should we interfere? If interventions take place, are they trying to create a better world or to diminished cultural diversity?" The discussion was great and I will never forget one of my friends said after the presentation "Oh! This is a good question!" and I answer "Thanks! I gained inspiration from an online game."

i mean. let's think. halo is about a guy that wears a badass suit and kills aliens with a female ai helping him. these aliens are religious to a species known as the forerunners, who were very technologically advanced but got wiped out after a big war ended. oh yeah, there's also the flood, that guy recruited from 6 years old to become a killing machine, that female ai now wanting to take over the galaxy, the games itself(before reach) being known as the best and innovative. warframe is about a guy/girl that wears a badass suit and kills human clones and humans with a female thing? helping you. some of those humans are religious and before this happened, there was a technologically advanced empire known as the orokin but got wiped out after a big war ended. oh yeah and there's the infested, the person you control is controlled by a child, that female thing? is now trying to take over the galaxy and the game itself known as the best and innovative. yeah i think it's quite obvious

I chose to keep her with the Tenno in the end. Throughout her diary writings in the entire quest she speaks of not knowing where she is, why she is captured, and who had even kidnapped her and then it hit me --- these children are _brainwashed_ ...for better, maybe, but they merely understand the base knowledge that they are a part of an ongoing "tradition" and that they are making a "great sacrifice", but that's it. They do not understand that they are LITERAL SACRIFICES. It just feels wrong for their already dying people to exploit the children like that. I initially would've respected some aspects of it, but that's no way for a child to live, cowering in a dark corner of space on an abandoned, run-down planet surrounded by the very hungering infestation that seeks to destroy them. Had their people taught the selected children what the importance of their TRUE purpose was along with the dangers that accompany it, I MAYBE would've at least considered letting the girl decide for herself, but in reality, they are too young to fully understand the weight of their decisions. Call me selfish for not wanting to help her people, but I just wanted to give her a better life where she did not have to live in fear. She needs the protection of the Tenno so incidents like the one that took place does not happen again. We may even have the tools to harness her "gift" on a larger scale for the greater good of protecting the whole universe, not just one civilization. But first, I think the Tenno would need to come up with a ways of extracting or controlling the strain within the girl so that she does not die and is able to live a long and healthy life.

I chose the option to cure her and send her home to change the tradition. You're right. the Myconians are hard-headed.
@marcelocampos74476 жыл бұрын
Wow, she wasn't alone and scared of the myconians, she was scared of Nef Anyo. She WANTED to go back, she knew her role with her society. She was yong, yes but she was smart nonetheless. She could make this choice. And for me, she did. She went back for her people by her own will. She was happy about it. Why would a person scared of their own people would want to go back?

Aperture Puppet I meant the constant fear of living with the infested outside of their walls. We all saw how easily their shelters could be broken into during the quest and the fact that Nef was able to get in and make off with the girl in the first place shows that their defenses are very poor and their security weak. They don't even have the necessary firepower to keep invaders out, let alone the infested. I think we can all agree that she NEEDS better protection so that the events that took place in the quest do not repeat themselves. It's easy to give a child the ability to make their own decisions at a young age, but most don't have the cognitive ability to understand the weight of them until adulthood (something the triuna children will never see). I do respect your opinion though and I can see where you're coming from.

I feel like I’m the only one who believes that the Tenno shouldn’t interfere. While yes, children do become sacrifices and are practically brainwashed. That is their religious practices as well as their way of life. Living amongst the infestation and having an almost mutual relationship with it. Such feats never come without a price. If morality is question, every other faction deserves to be analyzed. Even the Tenno. Deciding the fate of many cultures without the consent of such things.

Interesting how you can see so much history of the culture just through the environment. Myconia was a space station where samples of the Helminth strain were stored. During the Great Plague, the Infested attacked Myconia. A brave human, likely a scientist working with Helminth, injected themselves with Helminth and became a Hybrd, saving their people. Thus the people were saved, but also marooned during the Great Plague. This is how their culture formed, and generations later all scientific reverence they once held toward Helminth has turned into religion. I love Warframe's story so much...

@jinkim966 жыл бұрын
I chose to leave the choice to her cuz she knew the consequences and although I can agree with some ppl in the comment section that the children had been brainwashed, it still is her choice. Plus, as the warframe comics suggest, tennos cannot always save all the people unlike the miconians' "traditions". This is just like the question from Justice by michael sandler; by choosing to cure the girl, u risk the chances of losing a lot of the others' lives. While u might think that u can "protect" all the miconians, it is realistically speaking, not all that possible. There's a limit to what one person can do, even if that is the legendary tenno. So I let the girl choose her fate because I simply cannot take responsibility for what the miconians may face. What's theirs is theirs and it isn't wise to let the 3rd party decide their own path. Anyways, that was my thought on the decision of this mission. But I have one more question from this mission and from watching this clip; why the hell were the orokins threatened by the infested when they had the technology to scare them away? They probably would've been fine with the infested if they had done what the miconians did.
@countlazuli87536 жыл бұрын
jinkim96 yeah I was kinda between a rock and hard place, either I leave children to continuously die prematurely, or I force a society to change just because I disagree with it. So I decided to let the girl decide.

Hmm... grinner with the cetus ppl at earth, corpus with solaris united at venus, i think the infested would be with this myconian colony at eris maybe?. And for sure, primed soon tenno.
@acetributon6 жыл бұрын
Yey wanted to see this covered for a long time. Wish they could just make it replayable. As far as their culture is concerned. And the children were fully aware. They have a strong based cultural system that will not die. However what could scare Miconians is if the infested are somewhat controlled by a "grave mind" that child could endanger themselves or someone else. Fortunately they are in eris and the closest "grave mind" is in Orokin Derelict. I also wanted to see an open world based on the Miconians. Where we hunt infested and grant them components needed for their advancement. In return we will be granted special weaponry only the infested will fear. And my final question is this: If a tenno decided to go dark or in the path of the infested. (Aka the light and dark focus system) If they become the triuna WHILE previously exposed by the void. Would they have a better and stronger hybrid or tribute?
@acetributon6 жыл бұрын
And I knew that you used halo. Appropriate for this case ;)
@DADEFUYE6 жыл бұрын
we'll probably have Eris as the next open-world after venus. that would be very appropriate as the infested homeworld. -The void makes the tenno somewhat imune to the infestation, but if they should ever go dark like that, then their connections to the warframes will be stronger. SPOILER sacrifice shows that warframes are made of hardened infested tissue.
@acetributon6 жыл бұрын
I let the girl decide for herself because I can't change the culture. Going back to ancient societies invaded by modern ones wiping the ancients completely out. Now with the focus. I believe the white represents orokin influence and the Dark would be infested. Theory incoming: depending the alignment of the focus system determines favor on either two sides against the sentients. After that there will be a war balance between the main two influencing factions. Since corpus and grineer can't compare to the power grab with infested, sentient, and orokin. They may be wiped out during the onslaught. So all we can do is wait for the Miconians to either start their own power grab as an infested/corpus faction and fight alongside us or not.

I sent her back to her people. It's not our place to alter the traditions of other people. That's not what the Tenno exist for. We're there to fight the Lotus's war, not tell people how they have to live their lives. Also, if they have a way to subdue the infestation then it's worth looking into. Eventually we may be able to duplicate it without the sacrifice. That's worth considering.
@IAmStillNotMatthew5 жыл бұрын
Interesting how the Myconians decide to sacrifice a child every few years so their colony, or even better said, tribe can survive. Most other colonies, settlements, etc seem to rely on the Tenno for protection meanwhile the Myconians took more drastic steps to survive essentially in the middle of Infestation.

I liked to much that quest, it made me feeling like if was on Stargate, when I had to choose what to do with the believe of the people I met. I decided to let them continue do what they did for so long, because that allowed them to live in peace since now. (I'm a deep roleplay player on the way I see the game and quest, so my Operator has some kind of personnality) My operator was in a desperate search of vengeance, revenge, consumed by hate and will of destruction after the Sacrifice quest. But this small sidequest, with those people living for themself, without asking to the tenno for help all the time to do their painful job as the Ostron does, or the syndicat, or even the Lotus, they were just there, willing to live on their own. That mades my Operator changing of mind, still guided by the wraith of vengeance, but more in the way to protect the galaxie, as a mighty guardian crushing any threat before it reaches the small communities like them. Gameplay-related, I enjoyed so much the index scenario of this quest, made me feeling back on the day I played to ratchet gladiator on ps2, a game with the entire scenario based on arena combat, that was a very nice change to the usual spy quests. Really enjoyed that quest and the backstory.

I don't let others decide the decisions in real life. My In-game Character would probably think the same.... So I let her make her own choice, for better or worse. If she wants to continue the sacrifice, she can without me. I'll be watching from the sidelines, seeing a race of people survive and possibly thrive while I am out here living. Let them make the choice. It's what I'd what someone to do for me.
