"For Narmer" is the 'sequel' to "We All Lift Together" and it's possibly one of my favourite songs ever. Not just in Warframe, or gaming, but all music. And I've only put 20 or 30 hours into the game, so I'm not even super invested in it. It's got the same musical themes and motifs but twisted and changed, and the meaning is reversed. It's some incredible musical planning to mirror the older song so perfectly.

Without writing a novel, heres a bit of context for the 2 songs. We all lift, you guys kinda hit the nail on the head. As the logo at the end shows Fortuna is a "dept internment" collony. The corpus send people who have built up high ammounts of dept there to work them off. The sick part is theres "always something else" and if they dont meet quotas the higher ups literly "repo" parts of them. And they slowly become more cyborg and "owned" by the corpus. Cold below is literly a space sea shanty. But this song specifically is about Valla ( the women on the cover) and her crew. Who long story short got caught in a space storm of sorts and somehow got attacked by a rouge warframe who killed her crew, and by extension blames the tenno. Now she works with the head of the corpus (the man with golden hand) doing bad but not evil evil things.

Lore; We all lift: they are people in debt to the merchant faction of Warframe the Corpus, they pay there debt with work, however it's set up by the leader to never be able to pay off. The place they sleep is added to there debt, the food they eat is added to there debt if a family member dies both the disposal and whatever outstanding debt is added to your debt, they replace they're limbs some to work longer and harder some to sell to the Corpus to make up some payments because of they don't make any payments they get "shelved" they remove the brain and put it in a jar as basically the form of imprisonment. Sisters of Parvos: Parvos is essentially the hidden leader of the Corpus his an embodiment of the hidden hand of the market (literally haveing a golden hand) the song itself is a projection of a Corpus woman's dream of her crew, her sisters, they all died in a dock I think there body's floating frozen in space leaving the woman alone imagine the corpses singing with her (the other voice's in the song are the sisters) she ends up in the part of the void that hides Parvos Granum who always wished he had a sister who was as intelligent as him but strong like his brother who was a moron when she ended up there he made her "sisters" into basically ghost pirates for Parvos.

Well sea shanties are work songs to an extent, for the same reason that We All Lift is a work song. It helps the crew stay in time if the are doing a repetitive action and don't want to get out of synch with their shipmates. Most shanties and work songs have a very steady beat that doesn't change, because the idea is that you sing the song while doing whatever task you need to do, and keep the rhythm. You can see this with some footage of workers hammering down railroad spikes with like 6 people all smacking it with sledgehammers in very fast succession. It's because it's on beat with the song they're singing. Shanties are the same thing really.
@Fate.s-End Жыл бұрын
The "man on high" mentioned in the song is the 'messiah' of the Corpus, Parvos Granum, a man who started his rise to power with theft and who made a get-rich-quick pyramid scheme into a massive religion of greed. As would fit a man who created such a religion, it would not be inaccurate to say Granum is capitalism made flesh. As described in the song, Granum is a capricious and ruthless man lacking in sentiment, to whom people are merely another asset. If a subordinate no longer generates profit, there is no reason to keep them alive. If an enemy is powerful, even if they are slaughtering your people, they are an asset worth hiring. Charity is a virtue, not out of fairness or kindness, but because it indebts those who receive it to he who gives it. If you are poor, either idle parasites are dragging you down or you aren't working hard enough. In comparison to the institution his cult would become, with an aristocracy who are born and who die rich, and who preach what they don't believe in, Parvos Granum's words are deceptively virtuous-seeming. But his philosophy is simply a different kind of evil, one more dangerous in its heartless efficiency.

Interesting lore tidbit: the 'robots' in the We All Lift Together aren't robots, but humans HEAVILY modified to be more efficient in their work: their limbs and even their heads are replaced by cybernetric limbs and heads so they could work harder, longer and better, but doing so puts them in debt to to the Corpus and they can only pay it by working, often their entire lives. Debt is then passed to their kids for them to pay off, which forces them to ALSO get augmentations and thus the cycle repeats.

Woot! I suggested this! Glad to see you experience this! Now to actually play the video, I will make edits as relevance requires. Okay, on "we lift together" first, yes, for namer is a sequel to that, it's the same people singing it, just keep that in mind. To describe who they are, they are technically Corpus, or corpus financed, but their their own free people. Many need augments in order to work, no augments, you got no money, and you can't work, you build up a debt, and... tax man comes to collects bits and pieces of you. For this reason, they are fighting their own subtle war, working as one, united on a common front. So yes, their not robots but people, and I personally believe those cases in their chest holds their true heads. For the sleeping in the cold below, this is I believe a villian anthem, for a corpus crew, hunting down a ghost ship that was famous for rescues before falling into the void. Eventually these girls will become sisters and daughters of parvos, the messiah of the corpus. On a more uplifting note, it is possible to beat and convert these sister's of parvos into crew members, who can assist you on missions.
@ВладиславФесенко-к1м3 ай бұрын
Parvos was the mythical man who pulled himself up by his bootstraps. He was clever (probably clever enough to craft a false narrative around himself and his organisation to lure more people in), denounced greed for short-term gains and praised those who genuinely worked hard. Corpus of now is the current reality, where CEOs and directors reap the majority of gains yet preach for all the others to work harder

Lorewise - We all lift together is sang by Solaris United a indebted Corpus who had to sell parts of themselves in order to pay up their debts, yet they also had to do it in order to work in the toxic environments they inhabit so they get in debt more because of those cybernetics. Sleeping in the cold below is sang by the sisters of Parvos, Parvos Granum is the founder of the Corpus faction and he was trapped in a time bubble in a different dimension but now he is kinda free to operate in our reality in some ways. He use those "ways" to recruit his head hunters - the sisters of Parvos, that are mainly hunting the Tenno. "The Corpus are a cult worshiping money", their culture is infused with climbing the ladder in order to get more money.

Hell yeah! You've got to watch For Narmer now, it's set in the same place as We All Lift Together however due to some unfortunate circumstances it's very different, _I won't say anymore though._ Also We All Lift Together is whistled by all the workers you can see while you traverse Fortuna, a colony where people who are in debt to Nef Anyo (the evil CEO basically of the corpus) work in an attempt to pay off their debt. Fortuna's probably one of my favourite parts of Warframe just because it's so unique compared to any sci-fi thing i'd seen before and yet has such a huge part of story/lore within it. Sleeping in the cold below I know a lot less about but it's also to do with these corpus sisters that were flying in their ship that died for some reason, in the quest you go to them in your spaceship and their ghost ship sort of _speaks to you_ and then your ai translates and speaks back so you can board it and then unlock a new warframe, really weird.

Both songs involve a faction in Warframe called the Corpus, essentially a cult centered around corporate greed (oversimplified, but true). The cyborg workers of Fortuna in We All Lift Together are, as you caught on really quickly, laborers that aren't getting much in return for their work, and are actually indebted to the Corpus via shady corporate tactics, causing various body parts, mostly heads, to be replaced with robotic components because of said debt. The mission that Sleeping In The Cold Below is played in not only gives access to a Warframe, but also to the Corpus side of Warframe's Nemesis system, referred to in-game as the Sisters of Parvos, Parvos being Parvos Granum, the original founder of the Corpus so long ago.

These are the good ones. There's another where they tried to make lightning strike three times and ummm... no. We All Lift: Fortuna is an interment *planet* specifically the terminus of the Venus space port. Venus is now frozen wasteland, such was the greed of the Corpus planet crackers. Lift is a literal chain-chant, and yes taken from the Industrial revolution. Nef Anyo in the literal sense, owns the entire planet. When the Tenno arrive they find "those things" which are the citizens of Venus. They're people. People with their parts traded in for credits. Paying off that debt is nearly impossible, by design. The lady on the welding rig with the Ship Cutter plasma welder is Eudico. She once led a revolution against Nef and the people payed dearly for her failure when the rebels were betrayed. Maybe the Tenno can change that. Cold Below: This is a shanty, sung by the Sisters of Parvos after more than half their number were killed by a single Tenno Anti-Privateer. The Corpus claim to be an endless benefactor to the solar system, the natural evolution of mankind spreading into space and making the entire system their garden. There is no such animal. The Corpus are originally pirates and cut-throats whom would sell their own family if it meant getting ahead in the eyes of their Orokin customers. Parvos Granum changed all that when the Orokin empire fell. (Parvos Granum is literally Brigham Young in Space. Not even kidding. Even has the Golden Disks) Granum used any means necessary to forge the Corpus Granum, an incorporation of the pirates whom fell in line with his beliefs that greed is literally divine and natural inclination of man. Anyone who though they should be in charge dealt with the Sisters of Parvos; his all female Hidden Hand that would use whatever means were needed to get the rest of the Corpus... or anyone else, including Grineer, in line. Equipped with the best gear and stolen Orokin tech, the Sisters were the last thing you wanted on your doorstep on any occasion, and could usually force surrender or capitulation in any negotiation or deal simply by being there or demonstrating their assassination skills in public at a convenient time and place. Granum's heavy hand eventually gained the ire of both the Tenno and Grinneer and one Tenno in particular, Sevagoth, made it his mission to crush any Granum incursion into neutral or friendly space, even in the Void. Granum made a final bid to rid himself of this menace by sending half of Sisterhood to fake a distress signal and lure Sevagoth's ship in. No one knew what happened, but Sevagoth's ship, the Tempestarii, known far and wide for being able to rescue any crew from any crisis was never seen again, and none of Parvos' sisterhood ever returned. This loss set the forces arrayed against Granum in background to openly challenge his rule, and as fate would have it his own personal ship would also be lost to the void. Some Rail travelers insist that the Tempestarii can still be found in the fiercest void storms, sailing to parts unknown, searching for someone in need of rescue. The reason there isn't a video for Cold Below is the song plays when you enact Sevagoth's quest in the game. His Shadow gains final revenge on the Sisters trapped in the endless void storm with him, so that his master may finally find rest and a new captain may claim the Tempestarii.

@@TwoSevenX How exactly is it a bad song? The song is SUPPOSED to make you feel uncomfortable, like something is missing. It is a perversion of "We all lift together", a worker chant about working together through adversity, an ode to freedom, all voices that sing it has their own personalities. In opposition, "For narmer" is a religious chant of absolute devotion and individualism. The singers sing in perfect harmony, no voice stand out from one another, just the same, "warmth-less" voices. Even the cords are "reversed": "We all lift together" warm and hopeful, 'For Narmer" defeated and looming. Aside from the strange decision of leaving the second half of the song (the best part in my opinion) out of the quest, which i find odd, i don't see how it is a bad song. I'd love to see a reaction to the story playthrough of Call of the Tempestarii, the mission that Sleeping in the Cold Below is from, uploaded by Definitely Emprist. It has no player VO and it keeps to the important dialogue and scenes. Would content like Letsgameitout be something you two would react to, or is it strictly the games/game stuff?

I genuinely miss playing warframe. 2016-2019 was my favorite time to play the game. It was like a poor man's destiny since I didn't have money to buy destiny. The game itself was so fun but now there is a lot you have to build and swap to even play the game. It's fun the story is fun but it's hard for me to play warframe like how it was during the time I play. Genuinely recommend the game

Sleeping in the cold below is a sea shanty…space shanty? There no real visuals for it cus its in a mission. Part of a warframe is trying to get back to its other half so that it can rest in peace. There is more to it but i didnt play too much in that era of the game.

Do you guys have any plans about playing DBZ Kakarot? Or at the least reacting to the cutscenes? The abridged version pretty much follows the same story but obviously the real storyline is a lot serious and emotional at times and the game showcases it really well. Hope to see it.

Warframes always been good at music and world design. Super neat and interesting world / lore and characters. Gameplay, well its fun until you reach the end of the grind. Then your just waiting year/years in between meaningful content and its gets very stale fast IMO. Nothing against people who can enjoy it but when the only gameplay left was farming xp on new weapons and such, well I checked out and havent returned :P
