*clears throat* *cracks knuckles* To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Limbo. The playstyle is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics and quantum mechanics most of the synergies will go over a typical player's head. There's also Limbo's Dapper look, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his concept draws heavily from Stephen Hawkings String theory, for instance. The mains understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these synergies, to realize that they're not just Useful- they say something deep about THE GAME. As a consequence people who dislike Limbo truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the Science behind his iconic ability "cataclysm," which itself is a great representation of what a worm hole used to create a small pocket through the 4th dimension would look like I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as DE's genius unfolds itself on their screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a limbo tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

Another tip for the health siphoning stage both dagger stances inflict slash procs on charge attacks. The Rakta dark dagger gives you shields for damage done to targets inflicted with radiation procs. If you use RDD you can turn enemies into health AND shield dispensers.

July 2021 update here, a held cast of Banish now casts a weakened, but infinite range instance of Dispel. This is weaker, as it only affects the Rift, but it means that a low duration build is now less viable than a high one, as you don't have to rely on Banish expiring, nor do you need to manually send them out, you can just hold cast to send everyone out at once. The key idea is that if you're overwhelmed, you can instantly kick all enemies out of the Rift, however you spend far less energy, due to not needing to constantly cast Rift Surge. It also makes the stun idea work, as you can just spam dispel and Rift Surge to act as though it's a low duration, as Dispel costs no energy. You can straight up switch between high and low duration banishes at will, with exact control over the duration, meaning your cataclysms and defensive abilities are no longer tanked. Do with this what you will

Don't think of Limbo as a support frame, though he does have support aspects. Think of him as a solo frame with great cc and infinite scaling. Like Harrow. Can't have friends complain about Limbo if you got no friends, after all. Limbo was the first Warframe I built, and is still my go to pick, and most used frame.

There are two Limbo playstyles; 2+4 and 1+3. The former, you get to walk around a statue garden of frozen foes with a shotgun. The latter, you play as a demon from the beyond, becoming the nightmare of the grineer with your immaculate dress as you pull them into the Rift and shotgun their faces as their friends look on in terror, unable to do anything.

I'm mr 15 in the game and FINALLY decided to go back and finish the limbo quest, I currently have the full frame building. While he was building I thought "I should look up some builds and play styles for him so I'll know what to do with him". That was a mistake. He seems to be one of, if not the only frame, that you need to FULLY experiment with yourself before looking at how others play him, otherwise you'll just leave extremely confused as I was. So my advice, play the frame yourself for at least a few hours, get used to the abilities and how they affect everyone and everything, and then look at how others build and play him. Even if only to see that the way YOU do it is the way YOU want to do it. Because in the end, that's why this frame is one of the most complicated in the game, it's not mashing one or two buttons when you see a mob of enemies or an objective, it's playing your cards right and using YOUR abilities the right way when YOU see what needs to be done.

Holy shit that was an amazing video to watch. A 30 minutes video with clear explanations complete with the when, the why, the who and the how. And oh yea, that min duration build, I really dig it. It will totally help me with the problem of getting too overwhelmed when trying to juggle enemies between the rift and material plane. Especially in 'killing' type missions. I've been using min range for that kind of situation but I find that I keep on losing track of banished enemies and most probably annoy my teammates a lot.

brainiac642 You should take 2 Equinox players. Near the end of your Maim, have the other cast hers and then recast yours to spend all the save damage. Since the other Equinox started Maim before you cashed out, all or most of the damage you saved goes straight to her, and will go right back to you when hers is almost up.

two months later and i've been using limbo for almost two months straight, and this guide has been the best thing in the entire universe. the low range build is no fucking joke, even in the Plains; being able to selectively take an enemy or two out of the battle without banishing/rifting your entire squad puts you in a very good role to take out priority targets and almost a support frame in a way. i've yet to toy with a build of my own yet because i haven't forma'd him the way i want yet but this is an absolutely phenomenal guide and i'd like to see other guides for frames in the future as well.

I love this guide! There's one thing I do disagree with, though - range Limbo doesn't work as well for Defection missions; the kiddies don't listen to you if you're in the rift. I find duration works better, since they're able to make their way home while banished and all you need to do is keep 'em moving - throw on the Haven augment and you don't even need to wait at the checkpoints! (I learned this by grinding for Harrow... Defection's still painful)

I normally take limbo to spy missions pretty much exclusively, because he straight up bypasses most security, so seeing a way to play him properly while benefiting my team without being restricted to one game mode? Hell yeah. Thanks a bunch for this dope guide!

This is great. Im a new player and when I got limbo i didnt know how to use it, every one said it was a bad frame so i never used it. At the time I ignored the value of mods thinking that what ever is good is good for all warframes, but this is making me practice mod loadouts so far half my warframes hace improved. THANK YOUUUU!

You forgot the most important bit: The equipment's influence on your image. You are wearing a top hat, and playfully run your fingers across your guns. You aren't the kind of person to wield some kind of Arca Plasmor. No, instead, use something more... civilized. A rapier is generally well seen, as is a mere sword (such as Ether Sword?). Your primary is of primary importance too. M'frame isn't exactly a flamethrower kind of frame. It's refined and subtle. As such, guns such as primed bows with beautiful accents would do the trick nicely. Or mayhaps Latron Prime, or Tiberon, if you are willing to be a bit more subtle. When it comes to secondaries, it becomes a bit more complicated. There are great a many secondaries to choose from, and this is mostly up to preference, but I try to recommend using guns such as Akstiletto or Aklex Prime. Revolvers such as Vasto/Magnus and their dual wielded counterparts could also do the trick. Limbo isn't about killing. Any frame can do that. It's about killing with style, and finesse. Ce certain "je ne sais quoi" is necessary to putting together a good loadout.

I'm very late to the party, but thank the lords there is someone who could explain Rift Surge in an understandable way! Haven't been playing this game for too long and I absolutely fell in love with Limbo when I unlocked him, so many thanks for showing me how to play this monster of a frame! Glad to see many people (comment section included) who actually try and enjoy limbo rather than the people who hate him just because he is limbo. Loved the riftbound guide so I subbed and love the min duration build, I had a build that did the same but still was good for defensive at the same time -pretty much a jack of all trades build- but it is nice to see a build that does the same as I do without the cataclysm reliance. Keep up great work and make limbo great again! -or at least show people he was always great-
