as a chinese person, Zhugeliang or Kongming is definitely a pretty classic historical figure, and it'd be cool to see DE's take on him if this is indeed the inspiration, if it is I'd expect some sort of a fan weapon, the already existing Zhuge repeating crossbow is kinda based on a supposed invention from him.

@@陶杰宁Zhuge Liang’s mythos often revolves around land and nature based tactics, either directly (summoning wind to exacerbate flames on an enemy fleet), or in combination with mind games (creating an inescapable death labyrinth out of low visibility and carefully placed rocks, convincing an enemy army to retreat by leaving the door open and playing music on the gate to make them think there was a totally obvious trap)

The 5 fates: In Chinese mythology the 5 elements are supposedly fate influencing and it just so happens each element's characteristics match a tenno school Wood: Growth, flexibility, and healing. Naramon Fire: Destruction, energy, and transformation. Madurai Earth: Stability, defense, and resilience. Unairu Metal: Strength, precision, and cutting power. Zenurik Water: Fluidity, adaptability, and purification. Vazarin Quills, the faction in PoE has some deep knowledge about tenno powers and schools Unum, the Quills' master apparently has some fate seeing and changing powers, maybe due to mastering 5 fates or being a Kuva queen level being. This kind of ability and authority would be fitting for a great tactician. Also it is the consciousness within the flesh tower, which was crashed into my a murex. Also Unum might be able to connect timelines to help tenno get to 1999 timeline, since Lotus asked us to go there. Maybe it got a bit too destryoed and from what remains of it, is born a new frame which has only a tiny bit of Unums powers. Maybe something void damage related, like a team-wide buff. Could also be more tenno-connected, like a passive that buff the tenno instead of the frame. Maybe even different effects depending of active school. Even crazier idea, Unum's remaining power affects Stalkers child and it becomes Koumei, especially since its coming along with Stalker themed nightwave. One thing throwing me off here is that this is releasing right after Jade - back to back buff/debuff frames? I like those but seems weird/unlikely. Then theres the idea of summoning an army type thing, but idk how to make it not Revenant or Nekros.

Komei sounds like another character in the Cetus/Ostron faction, or maybe a Quill. It's not really a big mystery since some of their names are japanese-sounding (Saya for example, is a typical japanese woman name). Given the obvious japanese-styled glyph and the 'war scars' on the Warframe logo it could be an expansion for the Plains of Eidolon area, which makes full sense: the Unum tower has been damaged during the last Sentient invasion and there's a high chance the barrier walls enclosing the Plains gets powered off, allowing other (human-based) factions to invade Cetus on foot instead of needing air route.

Given the theming we've seen for the update and the Volt deluxe skin this update definitely has very little correlation with Greek myth and most likely going a Japanese probably Shinto themed update, given the Oni Volt deluxe skin and the design of the update banner it makes the most sense to me that this update is probably Shinto themed or at least based on Japanese culture or history or belief systems.

I think there is an important message in the apparent conflict between the theme and the title of the next update. By in large, "fate" is a classic western notion wherein individual agency cannot change a predetermined outcome. In contrast, classic eastern traditions view life events through the notion of karma wherein one's "destiny" can be shaped by personal choice and attitude. If we are to use Eternalism as the chief guiding principle for in-game events, then the Tenno are "fated" to whatever happens while at the same time are able to "choose" their fate. On another level, as players, we are granted limited freedom to make choices by the developers - the ageless problem of RPGs not feeling sufficiently consequential. Personally, I would like for DE to take the risk of presenting us with a choice that creates a dual experience. Something like switching between the Operator and the Drifter but with two very different roads of play. And maybe that's exactly what DE has done with Warframe 1999 ...

I think its two types of tactical, cyte-9 will be tactical pretaining to weapons and explosives while the new frame will be tactical in the way of planning and positioning. I think the new frame will have 5 powers (including passive) that are all buffs or bonuses for the self and team based off the tenno schools of combat or elements. So id imagine energy, armor, damage, crit damage/chance, and healing enhancing/buffing abilities

3:54 I think you are mixing up ideas quince is less tactician and more soldier, he is a gun expert and sniper it’s just nowadays we call that whole military look tactical gear. When I think of a tactician I’m thinking the person that’s drawing up battle plans, lying traps for the enemy, making it so his troops have advantages while his opponent are at a disadvantage (aka buffing and debuffing). So a buff/debuff frame may make sense here maybe he can summon cover to help his allies, there are a few different ways the could go with it depending on just how DE thinks of a tactician or maybe he will be a new faction leader and all this has nothing to do with the frame we are getting?

The real issue is that warframe's design doesn't really require or ask for a lot of tactics. Especially considering the enemies that DO require tactical thinking or operation... can't be crowd controlled and are largely immune to abilities.

I feel like Komei will be a Samurai, Shogun (Feudal Japan warlord/commader I think ?) or Daimyo (Vassals of the Shogun). Although it could be similar to Excalibur, I feel like Komei is gonna be more focused on the general idea of a samurai, first ability could be an Iai slash (the typical *sheathes his katana and then a barely, if at all, visible slash)

Honestly, my predictions are that Koumei is gonna be an October (maybe "Halloween") update. My reasoning is that 1999 is slated for "Winter 2024", which only really leaves us with December. They're unlikely to release it at the end of Dec due to Christmas and New Years, and staff being on Holidays and such, which would mean any major bugs wouldn't get fixed. So, Im expecting early December for 99. That being said then, I doubt they'd release 2 major updates in consecutive months, again for hotfixing and such, so that removes November and leaves Sep/Oct for the "Fall" (Autumn) update. TGS isnt til late Sep, so I imagine that rules out early Sep, and given the track record of releasing on the day of an event I doubt they're likely to do that for stability's sake, leaving (in my mind at least) October as the only realistic timeframe for Koumei due to how they typically release updates early-to-mid-week (Tues/Wed usually) As for *when* in October though, that's hard to say. Given the spooky vibes of the splash image, with the fog and rain and silhouettes, that screams Halloween to me, meaning we could get anywhere in the second half of October, but I'd place my bets on somewhere between the 16th and 23rd to be honest.

The meaning for „Koumei“ is „light“ or „justice“. If DE isn‘t naming the Frame after the mythological character of Koumei but instead the meaning of the name, I‘m guessing they’re going more into the justice part, since Jade is already kinda light based, in terms of her kit.

Personally, I hope the new Warframe for Koumei is inspired by a kitsune. Creating illusions and mind control as crowd control, transformation, foxfires, etc. Main gimmick involves growing up to 9 tails after certain conditions are met to increase their strength.
