The Nephilim Sector is a violent area of the galaxy in which the advancing Indomitus Crusades are locked in all-out war with a dynasty of Necrons awakening from their aeons-long slumber. We first visited it in the most recent edition of Warhammer 40,000, and we returned in the latest season of Matched Play. Soon we’ll see it in a completely new light - on Warhammer TV in the forthcoming series Pariah Nexus.

Not all Sisters are mindless fanatics. Just like not every Commisar shots everyone on the head if they doubt a strategy or show fear. Not every Inquisitor wipes out whole cities just because someone utters something that can be seen as heresy. I love the novels and short stories set in the 40K univers, there are many examples that show all of those mentioned are still (to varying degrees) human. With all the good and bad it brings

For a more detailed explanation regarding the Pariah Nexus (or Warzone Nephilim) in the lore : Szarekh, the Silent King, got Illuminor Szeras, who originally created the forges used for the biotransferance, to work on a matrix capable of separating real and warp space. Using Pylons of Blackstone, the Necrons have expanded this matrix across several worlds in the Nephilim Sector, with the intent of expanding an area where the Warp cannot threaten the Necrons. Humans taken within the Pariah Nexus are separated from the warp and slowly fall into a form of degeneracy called "the Stilling". Basically, since their soul, which is in the Warp, is distanced from their body, they lose all forms of willpower and enter a vegetative state. As such, portions of the Indomitus Crusade have been redirected to the Nexus to stop its continued expansion. There is, seemingly, one counter to the Stilling: Faith. Faith can slow or even repel the effect of the Stilling and inspire a surge of life in people affected by the Nexus. As such, Sisters of Battle have proven to be the most effective Imperial force within the Nexus. So for anyone wondering, this is what all of this is about. And yes, it's a direct continuation of the 9th edition trailer story, so we COULD get a bloody animated Horus Heresy series...

It is kind of a tell that a lot of those who have comment on this video have never listened/read a single Sororita audio/book. Not every Sister is ready to jump down the throat of heresy. While Sister can be harsh then also tend to be super understanding that not everyone knows the Emperor the way they do and will be more patient when it comes to nipping heresy in the bud. Edit: I recommend read/listening to The Rose at War or Mark of Faith for wider range of different Sister personalities and varying degrees of wavering faith.

For those of you who are frothing at the mouth over how the Sister and Guardswoman interact; one needs to take into account that the Sister clearly has a rational mind and she knows that killing the guardswoman will only diminish her own chances at survival. On another note, while the Fanaticism of the Adepta Sororitas is a well known thing, i think these days from our Player view, we have distorted it, much like everyone and their grandma seems to think Kriegers are 'suicidal bayonet charges while swinging shovels and making happy gasmask noises' or 'Blood Ravens are keptomaniacs in space who steal other chapters relics' - a Sisters faith/fanaticism doesnt give her leeway to randomly execute people for having a depressing outlook on their current situation. Besides, the interaction between the sister and guardswoman will only be taking place due to GW wanting to explain how grimdark the 40k universe is, despite us all knowing as much in the first place - would be a different matter if this was a show being aired on something like Netflix where non 40k'ers would need to be taught, but kind of a moot point when its relegated to WH+ imo

Much like everyone else, I'm really interested in how that Guardswoman stayed alive saying something like that to a Sister of the Order of Our Martyred Lady, considering the Order's cult of martyrdom that's unparalleled even amongst the other Sororitas Orders, and the (while I won't call it absolutely heretical, but still) contents of said words... ...then again, considering that this sister seems to be having a crisis of Faith given her words in the beginning of the Trailer, I wonder if there's something more subtle at play or if she's letting the Guardswoman vent so that she's more focused in the fight. It's interesting seeing a Sister be so vulnerable, but also very concerning (in universe and on a meta level, given the long line of disappointments from writers of various IPs, but I'll wait to see where this goes).

He does a good job making videos between 10 and 15 minutes discussing it aspect by aspect. As well as discussing some what ifs and fan theories about the universe. The amount of lore, battles and characters they can use, create from and further expand is enormous. Pariah Nexus is a pretty ominous title especially to those who remember Necron Pariahs. Now add the scenes of the tortured Krieger during the prayer and the sus one at the end and the plot writes itself. Think about it Krieger uniforms are perfect for hijacking corpses. Krieger are already unsettling and their uniform would hide most tell tales of being under xeno influence and control. Add to that the how loyal they are considered and it makes perfect sense.

so i saw this comment on another video, yet here i will paste it for some who want to understand whats going on "For a more detailed explanation regarding the Pariah Nexus (or Warzone Nephilim) in the lore : Szarekh, the Silent King, got Illuminor Szeras, who originally created the forges used for the biotransferance, to work on a matrix capable of separating real and warp space. Using Pylons of Blackstone, the Necrons have expanded this matrix across several worlds in the Nephilim Sector, with the intent of expanding an area where the Warp cannot threaten the Necrons. Humans taken within the Pariah Nexus are separated from the warp and slowly fall into a form of degeneracy called "the Stilling". Basically, since their soul, which is in the Warp, is distanced from their body, they lose all forms of willpower and enter a vegetative state. As such, portions of the Indomitus Crusade have been redirected to the Nexus to stop its continued expansion. There is, seemingly, one counter to the Stilling: Faith. Faith can slow or even repel the effect of the Stilling and inspire a surge of life in people affected by the Nexus. As such, Sisters of Battle have proven to be the most effective Imperial force within the Nexus. So for anyone wondering, this is what all of this is about."

@Avaint TF blanks got inverted souls which gives them an aura that silence the warp around them. The stronger your connection to the warp, the worse your pain get when they get near you. And if you are a warp-based entity like demons, you just get fizzled out of existence The Imperium is currently the only faction to make wide use of them as the Sisters of Silence order and the Culexus assassin temple are entirely blanks, with the later being among one of the most terrifying assets in the Imperium

In the original Dawn of War: Dark Crusade they had a voiced necron. Fun fact in the OG necron lore from the first codex they couldn't talk but it later got retconned cause it was too difficult to make a character with no way of human communication.

Necrons > Space bugs > everyone else in this. I'm not into this fiction/kid stuff too much, but honestly, the space mummies/necrons are the best faction. They shed their biological forms to unite and win a losing war and defeated 'everyone' and 'everything', then just decided to go to sleep and hibernate until evil possibly returned; and it did, but it now effects the other factions more. The reason I like them a lot more is the fact that while they don't have emotions, they don't need it. They only would 'attack humans' because humans get in their way, attack them first, or because the resources Necrons need to basically 'save everyone' are being kept from them. They're also being attacked by brainless humans, elves, orks, and others who may ally with them while vastly outnumbered 10x or 100x by others; for sake of fiction, Necrons never gain a foothold, because just 1 ship annihilates an entire fleet at times, and if they did, then Necrons would defeat everyone. Humanity are just generally too dumb, for the sake of fiction: it's like a Greek tragedy, they wage civil war against one another, and don't ever have peace; the ones who forge alliances and work properly usually get attacked by their own inquisitors and their own faction and make a civil war which hinders their progress to even expanding and uniting even against their common enemies. Necrons are united, and facing just 1 small damaged portion of them that 'awakens' again and vastly 'outnumbered', typically wipes out the entire other factions in an entire sector/space (however large it is). They did what Humanity does already to augment themselves with tech, and yet are many times more ancient and powerful, and know things humans can't even understand, even with all that technology and progress. They likely knew about the space bugs, but now they are just possibly way larger and may be the only 'faction' that could be tasked with defeating them completely, once they gain an actual foothold and awaken a full army; it'd be a tough fight but they'd likely win once they've awoken fully. All the enemies Humanity fails to overtake, including the space bugs, the evil things, etc. these were defeated already by the Necrons. They went into the rift and defeated evil that corrupts the other factions. Other factions just perpetually fights endlessly, Necrons get results, they haven't lost any war except the ancient one they nearly lost themselves. Necrons defeated every ancient faction, including ancient evil and gods from the rift, after being on the brink of being wiped out. They shed their biological self to become hybrids/enhanced by technology; similar to humans, but way more ancient/better. They know how to handle almost every case, but human minds are too weak and too stupid to cooperate. The way they're depicted here is just wrong, or even too weak. The only reason this faction (Necrons) would likely 'attack' humanity is because they realize they'ev been attacked and humanity will not let them have the few resources that they typically need , because once they have it , they can easily seal any rift, operate any technology, defeat any foe, etc.. They only view humans, and elves, similar to how humans view orks, they are brainless and very few of them can work toward a goal, where if they let the Necrons do it, they would have likely eternal peace as well as an ally to depend on. The only way humans are going to 'beat' a fully awoken Necron world is by sending like 10x the numbers and hoping that one of their best can get a lucky blow. Just sayin' the way they're depicted here will likely be wrong, you aren't going to 'beat' Necrons. The best way is to depict Humanity losing and then deal a lucky blow that deactivates or stops them temporarily before they actually wake up/grow too large, like destroying a planet where they are waking up.

To everyone fussy about the guardsman mouthing off. If you follow the content you know where they are. Their souls are literally separated from their bodies in the Pariah Nexus. It causes lethargy and doubt in humans. It is perfectly canon and in line with the WH40k setting and area they are in. Even Sisters can have their faith shaken and it explains why she doesn't immediately dispatch the guardsman. Calm down about this and don't let this turn into another stale 40k meme please.

The Eldar is by far my favourite race. The Necrons are perfect antagonists. Only the tyranids are equally terrifying. Chaos and Dark Eldar are ok, the orks are too cartoonist for my liking. Eldar with reluctant support from the Empire vs. Necron would be nice. A collaboration of some Parties in 40k would be a good change for the Setting. Especially Dark Eldar and Necrons with their anti psyker attitude and the love for tormenting flesh could get well along.

I have two thoughts. 1) This would make an amazing game if they focused on the guard and the sisters/astartes were things you saw on the sides doing their thing but the character you played stayed a guardsman. 2) They better not wuss out and actually show us what the books showed us...that both ork and necron show not just fear, but absolute hopelessness when an Imperial Crusade armada moves into a system. There was no moment quite like that when they showed us ork fleeing and necrons looking at the sky and actually speaking about just how fucked they were. It took a book about Necrons to show us just how bloody SCARY the Imperium is when it goes on crusade.

Well, it depends on the dynasty. The Twice-Dead King was hopeless because the Flayer Curse had already wrecked their entire army and the former leader had let the infrastructure deteriorate to the point they couldnt fight back. That being said, the Flayed Ones completely eviscerated an entire Dreadnought once they were let out of their cage. I have no comments on orks, though.
