When a Salamander saves a civilian, it’s out of empathy When an Ultramarine saves a civilian, it’s because he doesn’t wanna deal with the casualties paperwork And when an Iron Hands saves a civilian, it’s because that’s a workforce not being fully utilised

He’s not wrong on that part thou, Salamander despite being the one that absolutely everyone would want to be with, they are in fact too “human”, evidenced by their past engagements and deployment where some even cost them an entire Company and/or mission objectives just because they were too adamant on protecting that one particular refugee camp. It’s like they said, the hardest choice requires the strongest wills, not because they want to but because they have to, that is the foundation of which the Imperium is built upon, not from “but what if..” but from sheer wills and authority. Heck, that is literally what the word “Imperium” stands for, absolution.

No Ultramarine would ever question the honor of the Salamanders and where their loyalty is. The Salamanders are one of the founding legions, stayed loyal to the Emperor and suffered alongside the Raven Guard and Iron Hands tremendous losses in the opening phases of the Horus Heresy. The "tensions" in my opinion mainly comes from the fact that the Salamanders are along side the Space wolves one of the most non-codex compliant Chapters in the Imperium.
@genericscout5408
@genericscout5408 4 ай бұрын
@@LordCatG The tension is probably from them taking heavy losses to the point of being compromised on the planet overrun by necrons. It's a fair point to make that you're failing your duty now that you're missing an arm and most of your battle brothers are dead cause you wanted to save a few stragglers who got offed anyway for corruption. Granted the Salamanders are who they are. But had they been more cold you might have had 20 battle brothers standing to fight in this scene instead of two.

The Salamanders' homeworld, Nocturne, is a death world with a people that stay true to each other for survival. @@dankeller4103 I am sure that the Salamander Librarius will have detailed and well known and discussed lore, rapports and after action memoriams of battlebrothers who fought on Istvaan and lived. Istvaan was a defining moment for the Salamanders, not even to mention the Raven Guard and Iron Hands. Aside from Vulkan being found and Artellus Numeon giving his life in Mount Deathfire to bring Vulkan back there is no moment in the chapters history that defined who they are as important as Istvaan. Chaplains will teach the lessons learned there generation after generation. This is something no chapter would ever allow becoming superstition of mis-understood myth. The blood shed by the Salamanders on Istvaans soil, I am sure would have never been forgotten, not by the Chapter, not by Vulkan, nor The Emperor on His throne on sacred Terra.

That last line, right there, is why I don’t like most Ultra Marines. You can’t support humanity and act like you’re above or separate from them. That path always leads to heresy. Even the Emperor of Mankind knew that. Even still, that arrogance is proof that even with all their modifications, Space Marines are still only human.
@gabzsy4924

Well it's not though. Empathy is good, but when you know how and where to apply it. Salamanders are infamous for not following direct orders and get into conflicts with other chapters because they want to save civilians even when it goes completley against the mission protocols and it endagers the mission and other Space Marine lives. For them it is a weakness because at times they end up sacrificing millions of lives in pursuit of saving a few. Also, shall I remind you that the Salamanders weapons of choice are flamethrowers and incinerators? They burn their enemies alive. On the other hand, Ultramarines have one of the most prosperous colonies in the whole Imperium where civility, peace, prosperity, culture and academics can be pursued and the human population there have the best lives one could ever hope of having in the Imperium. So, you see, one is a very shortsighted and immature form of empathy, wielded like a weakness and oftentimes resulting in disaster, while the other is mature, it looks at the bigger picture and utilized as a strenght to build prosperous empires.

For all fiery hate and zeal the dead god’s “angels” have to offer, these pathetic displays of childish entitlement for a galaxy they never deserved are but brittle knives thrown against a towering wall of Necrondermis. When the fires of a dying humanity have settled, the age of Necron will come about once more. These young, juvenile races cannot hope to stop us. The rest of what you said is just pure meaningless fancy talk, in the far future of the 41th millenia there is only war and these soldiers, although technically still human, are way above humans, both physically and mentally and should not be caught second guessing themselves mid mission about deep philosophical questions as this would most defenitely hinder their performance during the mission. Astartes are machines of war, perfectly calibrated and tuned, it's a given that they would not be your typical human nor you should want them to be, so stop with that nonsense, it's kind of cringe.

I think it's boastful ignorance due to the fact that the Ultramarine's successor chapters are typically far more... well, successful than the successor chapters of other founding legions, and so it's unlikely that any marine is aware of just how many chapters are actually out there, how many have been lost, or how many are intentionally skirting the edges of known space because their beliefs, while not necessarily heretical, would put them in severe predicaments with the hyper-rigid book followers such as the Genesis Chapter. As of right now, the Ultramarines have 50 confirmed successor chapters. The Blood Angels alone have 51 confirmed successor chapters. So, yeah, factoring in just two founding chapters, the Ultramarines don't even have the majority in a near-tied 50/50.

I believe it has been said in multiple places that the Ultramarines have the most successor chapters, however that doesn't even necessarily mean it's a majority. There's actually little reason to believe Brutus knows what he's talking about especially given how often we hear of lost chapters or chapters with unclear lineage. It could be true, it might not be. These clips are cool and all, but I am starting to see a trend that is going towards animation and games going more towards recreating the actual models with a more cartoonish style and hollywood, over the top, kind of action, rather than the gritty, realistic and dark setting that I hoped we would get. When I first started collecting the miniatures and getting into the lore, the things that really kept my blood rushing and excited were generally the stories and the beatiful realistic artworks found in the Codexes and Rule Books...the miniatures, although not super high fidelity due to constraints, tried to catch up to this realistic, dark and gothic world. Now it seems it's the other way around, the artworks are trying to represent the miniatures and it loses a lot of the initial appeal. Am I the only one noticing this?

@@chaosbringer9007 If you want a practical answer, they subscribe to WarHammer+, recorded it (which is illegal), then post short clips of it, short enough to not get copyright strike.

0:43 I feel like gw make sakan TOO nice from the perspective of the setting by making him somewhat empathtic to xeno. Even the nicest space marine will be more racist than kkk and any SS

Salamander's have a big picture mindset. There suppose to stand out from most space marine chapters. Only contending with Sanguinus's Chapters.

Nah. Even their Primarch, Vulkan, felt bad after he burnt an Eldar child (child in Eldar's age range) when they were helping with rescuing humans and later surrendered to the Salamanders. Hell, even the Ultramarine's Primarch, Guilliman, is getting along well with Yvraine, an Eldar's emissary. He even shut down the other High Lords of Terra when they showed signs of xenophobia towards her bodyguard (saying something along the lines of "If it hadn't been for this Eldar, I would not have been alive, and you shall show them respect").

@@internetuser320 The imperium (and by proxy humanity) as a whole is a bunch of zealots and xenophobic bunch. None of them are nice people by our standards. So the Salamanders by comparison is actually nicer than most humans because they’re willing to risk themselves for other humans (they’re one of the loyalist chapters who don’t believe wholeheartedly in the Emperor, they just went along with it to avoid more infighting). Other humans when they make sacrifices are all for the Emperor, and very rarely for another fellow human. Kinda like if I take a bullet for you, it’s only because we’re the same countrymen, not because you’re a fellow human being.

It make sense honestly. If any SM chapter would look to the other side it would be a Salamander
