This story is why Aun'shi is my favorite T'au character to this day (along with Kais). I wish we could have more T'au stories like that, where characters other than Farsight and Shadowsun are allowed to actually be badasses and have those guardsmen/Space Marine like last stands.

Say what you want about the Ethereals, Aun'Shi did not deserve his ultimate fate. If you are screaming death to the xeno, fair enough. However, that will not happen to Aun'Shi anytime soon if ever. Yes the Tau have short lives, but no one dies quickly in Commorragh.

I love this story; Aun Shi is my favorite Tau character ever since the first codex. Thanks for reading and sharing it. Hopefully it spreads the well-deserved legend of his character. He's the only ethereal that Farsight likes. He might be the only genuine ethereal.

The leader cast among the Tau doesn’t like when other caste groups become too successful, but also like her with a member of the leadership caste who is too much intermixed with the fire caste and too successful, outshining the higher ranks will eventually combined with mixing caste roles get you sent away with no chance of coming back.

I've actually enjoyed the development of the Tau & their Empire. Back in 2nd Ed looking from the outside as a Dark Angel player they were soft with amazing ranged tech, & pinko commie scum w/ a caste system. Not that Socialism & Communism isn't grimdark in & of itself eventually learning of the Ethereals & their apparent "mind control" & the developing Tau God as well as the increasing persecution of humans has been great to see.
