Cawl has become one of my favourite characters as of late. He's a pretty unique character for 40k and I like how nobody completely trusts him yet they need him,that and he has a Primarch shaped shield protecting him from being branded a heretic.

"Beloved Sons" ... The Primarchs were a means to an end. There was no future for them as Malcador himself admitted to the Emperor's plan of pitting them against each other from the beginning with the purpose of ridding the Imperium of those ...liabilities. Chaos just hastened this plan. The Primarchs were mere tools, to be disposed of after their purpose was fulfilled. Nothing more, nothing less, just like with the thunder warriors. The Emperor never even considered them as his "Sons" or the future of humanity. Simply because the Emperor's vision for humanity had no need for demigods running rampant in humanities fate.

@@lamehick7511 I'm pretty sure the consensus is that Malcador was straight up lying when he "admitted" that in an attempt to pretend that they still had control over the situation. Like I want you to think about this objectively. The Emperor went through the trouble of creating 21 demigods with massive physical/psychic power, some with absolutely towering intellects and statecrafting abilities. They were all functionally immortal (Vulkan moreso than the others), had complete control over their legions, and were largely trusted to prosecute the crusade as they saw fit with relatively minimal micromanagement. The thought that the Emperor, one of the most longsighted, intelligent beings in the history of the galaxy, went through the astounding difficulty of creating these beings only to manipulate them into a massive galaxy spanning conflict with hundreds of thousands of lesser demigods and loyal mortal forces (fleets/tanks/titans/etc.), that would undoubtedly cause catastrophic damage (both in terms of infrastructure and loss of life) that would utterly cripple the Imperium and potentially plunge everyone into a new age of strife. Not only that, he apparently planned for this conflict, WITH FULL KNOWLEDGE, that there were cosmic eldritch beings who would absolutely LOVE to get in on this conflict and would try to do so at every possible opportunity in order to screw him over. And he apparently decided that this was the best possible course of action to get rid of them, when he could have literally sent them out on individual crusades so they'd be isolated, then visit each one and easily kill them without anyone realizing what was going on (as he can disguise himself) or being able to react in any meaningful way. I'm sorry but you have to intentionally shut your brain off to believe even an ounce of that theory...

I just started an Admech army, I don't have cawl yet though. Thought I'd wait till the new book is out, as we're likely getting a fabricator general at some point this edition, as there's one on the front cover of the new book. I don't get why it's a gigantic tech priest, and not Cawl on the front, so it must be some new Mini that's coming out as a centre piece (as cawl is limited to Mars)
