isn't that what the vortex torpedo is?
@ShinyaKogamiawesome7 жыл бұрын
No, Cyclonic Torpedoes and Atmospheric Incinerator Torpedoes are used in exterminatus. But I was specifically revering to the latter in this case.

Oh ya I guess I get vortex and cyclonic mixed up since I guess a vortex and a cyclone seem kind of similar haha thanks for the correction

Macro canons work on the same principle as rail guns used by the tau and Eldar, however, unlike those, the energy charge causes the shells to spin similar to the normal modern-day bullets, in addition to that some of them can be rocket-propelled that ignited when leaving the barrel of the cannon, Imperial las canons work on the principle of plasma beams generated charge via laser, usually, there are 2 types of lances on any Imperial ship, auto fire light repeating laser turrets that are guided by the Machine Spirit that target enemy missiles & fighters, manually operated turrets such as the primary batteries and top side rotary batteries, similar to the ones used by Iowa's & Bismarck class battleships, that target other capital ship and smaller crafts, The Nova cannon is a super tier rail gun that operates on hyper energy inertia build-up for release to generate o big ass bang, the weapon itself is built along the full hull of the ships itself, once the engines have been built up a powerful enough charge the round is loaded and fired,

An average macrocannon has a 1 kiloton yield. You add up several ranks of these and it quickly become an impressive nuclear level bombardment.

I think that is the low end of the canon because on spacebattle using mid-end canon most macro cannon have gigaton fire power
@retromillenium Жыл бұрын
@@nt249-hoa-ong9 First off, the official canon policy from GW is, there is no canon. Second, where are you getting your information that gigaton is mid-end for 40K? Third, if you're going by the novels only, the yields are all over the place. Lastly, if someone thinks the novels are the gold standard for firepower feats, they need to explain why. Why would the novels take precedent over the game lore? I know the reason why 40K fanboys only quote novels, and only the novel with high end feats. I won't try to come off as a jerk, but to put it simply, any of the reasons they give to explain why only high end novel feats are the gold standard are disingenuous to say the least. In their mind 40K has to be the best and that's their real reason.

@@retromillenium _>"First off, the official canon policy from GW is, there is no canon"_ GW official canon policy is *"Everything is canon, not everything is true"* - not that "there is no canon". kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zl6lmI2JiNega6M _>"Second, where are you getting your information that gigaton is mid-end for 40K"_ It's actually a low-ball. The average description for warships is continent-busting singular broadsides. _>"Third, if you're going by the novels only, the yields are all over the place"_ They are actually consistent because majority of them use the same recycled phrases or descriptions. They are all continent busting/shattering/atomizing/splitting stuff. Other descriptions are either support these or just outliers. _>"Why would the novels take precedent over the game lore?"_ Because novels are the game lore. They are the official product that are also directly referenced in codices (especially in resent lore these novels are literally in the codices as a part of their advertisement). Every modern supplement or campaign has an official novel tied to them and written into the overall plot. _>"An average macrocannon has a 1 kiloton yield"_ "Mars Pattern Macrocannons: The most common macrobattery, these are reliable, hard-hitting weapons firing *kilo-tonne* ordinance, mounted along the vessel's dorsal ridge or in broadside." - *Rogue Trader: Core Rulebook (page 202)* You mean the weight of a shell ? And the source you are referring to describes local orbital bombardment to support ground units. And the source is also Rogue Trader RPG meaning it have to scale down effects so players can actually play without breaking narrative. Also about macrocannons from the same sources: >"Although incredibly costly, complex, unpredictable and massively demanding in terms of maintenance and manpower, grand cruisers have much to offer Rogue Traders. They are vastly powerful ships, with *continent-shattering firepower* and ironclad armour that enables them to sweep aside entire squadrons of lesser vessels." - *Rogue Trader: Battlefleet Koronus (page 20)* Didn't know you can shatter continents with kilotons. _>"I know the reason why 40K fanboys only quote novels, and only the novel with high end feats. I won't try to come off as a jerk, but to put it simply, any of the reasons they give to explain why only high end novel feats are the gold standard are disingenuous to say the least"_ So what standards then ? You used the lowest showing and even that was out of context and now you are trying to claim that others only use outliers and high-end feats. In fact you didn't saw the real high-end feats which were written by GW themselves in their recent campaigns: "Millions perished in the opening assault, and millions more in the inexorable slaughter that followed. Worlds burned. Warriors uncounted bled their last for scraps of worthless, ravaged ground. Graveyards of twisted wreckage twitched in the solar winds, marking the demise of fleets *whose firepower could have unmade whole systems.* There was no time for mourning, for despair. Cadia's defenders battled on until all strength left them, and then went again into the fight, for there was no respite from the onslaught." - *Gathering Storm: Fall of Cadia* "Though it involved sufficient martial might on both sides to *raise star systems,* the war for the Rock was concentrated into the confines of a single, void-going fortress monastery and the battleships that clashed around it." - *Arks of Omen: Vashtor* And these two quotes are not the only one in the lore. _>In their mind 40K has to be the best and that's their real reason._ No. They just read the lore.
