"Power doesn't corrupt. It is the addiction to power that is a corrosion of the soul. If the addiction can be avoided, simple enough with dopamine inhibitors, then power simply reveals a person's true nature. What do you do when there are no consequences to your actions? When the only price you pay is having to live with yourself, then you will act in a manner that is true to yourself and we shall know you."

Reminder that Commissar Holt slapped a planetary governor
@peterwall81913 жыл бұрын
8:00 Not always. Usually there is a planetary office of the inquisition, or an inquisitor in residence. Not even a Lord Inquisitor can bypass those without political flak,they don't need. The Inquisition may be a law unto itself, but they do have a support system in place. They do have to play politics. can't afford not to. No with so many rogues among their ranks. Remember We taught them their craft. Not only how to infiltrate and interrogate, but how to organise. That little rosette inquisitors like to flash, the one that inspires such terror....They have forgotten why that is. In the early days, you took an inquisitor on..the whole hydra came after you. We made sure your life was over, long before we finally killed you. Planetary Governors.In the early days, during the Crusade, those appointed as planetary governors to a newly compliant world, threw tantrums. No one wanted to be left behind, to rebuild a world devastated by "Brought into compliance". Now .. families commit murder and seal pacts with Chaos to be appointed. Its a prestigious post. In theory. Despite the wealth, and power their wield, they are but minor functionaries. They answer to the subsector governor, who answers to the sector governor, who answers to the High Lords. In Theory, A fleet element establishing orbit over your head demanding resupply...doesn't live one many options. An inquisitor with entourage, coming for a visit.. reason enough to go over every archive ever. If there is something to be found, the inquisition will find it. If not ..they may decide to manufacture it. Not all Inquisitors are honest, many can be bribed by political factions. If subsector government decides you need to raise a couple of regiments ,equip, support ad pay for their passage ..you bloody well do it, budget be damned. You think the bean counters, give a feth if a couple of million people will end up starving ? All they care about, is to find someone to pay for their insane expenses, so they can send a couple of regiments worth of hivers to be slaughtered, with minimal training and minimal equipment, on some insanely far theatre of war , that gains them nothing. Most wars are against humans. Not xenos invaders, not orks not tyrranid swarms, humans. Religious wars, most of them. Doctrinal differences, a local saint not recognised, are enough. Someone screams heretics and ..the munitorum sends troops to feth up the planet. if they manage to get there. Many enter th warp and .. never exit. or exit in "other" places. Faraway galaxies ,totally different universes. Its more common than you think. I've visited a couple, they have no idea their ancestors were Imperial citizens. Most have forgotten where they came from. They found a suitable world, called it Earth, forgot all about the imperium within two generations. They actually believe they evolved there, on site! They have all sorts of evidence to show you supporting their delusion, while they simply ignore what does not fit. All have religions, and religious wars. A few take to the stars and learn to live in ,relative, peace with their neighbours. Some .. follow the old pattern. If its not human (enough), kill it . Some times i wonder why i even bother. Not that i have choice really. He doesn't give choices, neither does Chaos. I think I fight, because I still believe in the dream. Despite ruin we wrought, we haven't discovered half of the human civilisations the galaxy holds.
