My friends and I played two 40k ttrpg games side by side, dark heresy and Deathwatch. In our dark heresy games we were inquisitorial agents sent to planets to root out xenos organizations, threats, and any xeno who decides to piss us off. Our deathwatch campaign played along side our DH game, if our agents couldn't handle a threat or we wanted to play something quicker and more fun, we woul roll in with our deathwatch killteam as our QRF. We had a running joke that our deathwatch marines were always sent planetside with our agents but would wait in an unmarked van, like ford transit van.

Deathwatch real-world equivalent would be Delta Force, as they both recruit veteran operators from other branches or Chapters in 40K. Both have specialized equipment, operate in small teams & preform specialist missions, be it hunting terrorist or in 40K... Xenos.

That beast arises series pissed me off. Without giving spoilers... what happened to the Fists, and the ridiculous tactics that were employed, made so little sense. The smart orks were directly contrary to the whole concept of 40k orkiness.

Suffer not the alien to live. I combine the two origins. The first deathwatch was founded to fight the beast, but we're not ratified after the conflict and slowly scattered and died. The second origin, happened leading to effectively a second founding of the deathwatch.

It's not impossible that the Deathwatch founded in the 32nd millennium didn't survive the thousands of years that followed and that the current Deathwatch was created after an interim period.

The existance of Chaos is a consequence of simply existing, making the Malleus task nessesary but pointless in the end Chaos will never be defeated so long as humanity exists. I hate Ordo Hereticus cuz their are just a secret police that get in the way more than they help. Xenos is the one that is focused on managing the true existencial threat to humanity, other species and this is what makes them the most important branch.

I agree that Chaos cannot be "properly" defeated with the methods currently employed by the Inquisition. And the Ordo Hereticus is, often, just a bunch of witch-burning paranoid bullies. But they can be useful too.

You also need to watch out for the physical dangers, though. Daemons can rip you apart even if they can't fuck up your mind.

Not really, the Deathwatch is indeed the bunch of space marines from different chapters who go on missions for the Ordo Xenos of the Inquisition. You might be referring to the few loyal guys of the traitor legions that Malcador recruited for clandestine missions during the Horus Heresy. Those guys supposedly went on to form the Grey Knights.

I would assume that there haven’t been any primaris marine veterans yet since the primaris are relatively new and The death watch only takes experienced soldiers however we may see them in the future. Also primaris grey knights would be awesome
