I wonder what happens if a death watch brother does if his chapter gets Destroyed or becomes corrupted while they serve the long watch

Well we become Death Watchers 4 ever :) . And if parent chapter turns traitor, marine will in shame paint his shoulder pauldron black and he will keep his origins as secret from everyone exept watch Captain and maybe Inquistor.

They do indeed become Deathwatch members forever. It's pretty much common sense for them to do so as they got no other options, unless they want to restart the chapter by themselves.

Chapter destroyed, uphold the honor of their chapter and try to get the chapter restarted. Fallen, get tested for Chaos aids, then put down or scrub their old chapter heraldry from their armor and serve as a blackshield.

Grim dark do you know if they would retain their rank when they go back to their chapter, though a librarian may not I was just wondering about marine's who were rank & file (if you can call them that) in their original chapter. Thank's for the great video & hard work as usual & being one of the few channel's who will get back to comments & it's great to see the channel growing which is well deserved I even enjoy talking to other members of the community as there is not the toxicity you find with other channel's cheer's.

I would think that they do. During their years long watch they would gain great amounts of experience fighting along side hero's and veteran's of fellow legions.

Yep that would make sense even in the universe & time's they are in thank's for that.

If the brothers are simply part of the rank and file then they definitely keep that rank when they return. In fact, its not unheard of for when one returns to the chapter laden with tons of new lore and combat experience, for him to get promoted. Specialists would also keep their rank as basically they served the same function in the Deathwatch too. Question is a bit iffy if a company captain returns to the chapter and his old company already has a new captain :)

Actually this is covered in both the DW roleplaying and the Codex, they DON'T retain the rank they gain in the Deathwatch, they go back to their original rank. However if there is a opening for advancement they are immediately considered for the spot whatever it is. Also most Deathwatch marines already start with more veteran ranks, even terminators of their chapters, so they dont really loose any rank and still return to their chapter usually in a decently elevated position in their chapter. And for a example, when a watch master returns to their chapter, what do they usurp the chapter master or the commander of the first company? Nah there is a little bit of a reason they dont return their chapter, they can do far more good staying then returning to their chapter's rank and file, and maybe take up a middling captain position.
