I don't agree with any open canopy varients, the single pilot can only shoot forwards and the enemy could shoot them from any angle. Also having a scout with a short-range Flamer seems a bit risky, I'd have that as a secondary in case anyone gets close and a longer range primary.
@SpaceElf6 жыл бұрын
Sentinels, like much of the Imperium's technology, wasn't designed in order to combat modern fighting forces, instead they were designed as colony equipment primarily. The purpose of equipping them with flamers, buzz-saws and other strange equipment harkons back to this original purpose. Clearing plant matter and purging minor resistance.

TY GDN for covering the Sentinel , it gets overlooked by most guard players for not being a tank as well as its limits on armor & weapons but can "get things done" if you use a squadron of 3 armored sentinels supported by a couple of infantry squads & deployed in cover where it can get hull down . It was also the very 1st 40k vehicle I ever scratchbuilt from plans on a yahoo group, still have the whole squadron. TY again & keep up the great work.

For interesting info - there were jumpjets for sentinels during Great crusade era. Im intriqued - is it possible to emulate tau battlesuit, using mostly human sentinel technology with pinches of Tau tech? Making sentinels with "hands"? Little bit less clunky and more agile (say AMP suits from Avatar movie?) Can imagine even some rogue trader, who dwells inside the sentinel and uses it as little bit less potent version of astartes dreadnought - with life prolonging and sthrenghtening medical devices and substances. Seem advantageous, not to mention have hefty armour around the captain "at all times" and pretty heavy weaponry too - even when onboard the ship. Another point - would surely make some wheeled moving device for quicker manuevers and longer marches (similar to EXOs from "Obsolete" KZbin series).

Imperial Vehicles are initially designed by AI for the purpose of space colonization. A fledgling colony has limited access to refined fuels, and is dependent on immediately available resources, for example; wood and other flammable materials. To deal with this, STC systems designed them to be able to use just about anything flammable as a fuel source, from wood, to coal, to the Imperium's standard fuel source; Prometheum.

It is my belief that its because they use radial engines instead of thermonuclear power Edit/explanation ok so when a radial engine is allowed to idle or is turned off oil pools in the lower piston holes and it causes a plume of black smoke when they are initially turned on

The sentinel wasn't designed as a weapon, it was designed as a colony exploration and reconnaissance platform to explore alien worlds human society knew nothing about; except their capacity to sustain life.

Light or scout walkers as they are known in the Syfy world are used perfectly in the case of the Imperium of Man and Galactic Empire and Old Era Republic, Clone Wars era, they move fast, they can strike fast, provide cover support fire, they can also act as front line tactical guidance beacons for orbital, artillery or missile strikes, in certain cases filed commander will use them as mean to get a better vantage point on the battlefield, think Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel Afrika Corps WW 2 or Chief Major Kaleb Shekleth IV of the Galactic Empire, Legends Era, XVII Brigadiers,

I will never understand why GW never allows the Sentinel to take on multiple weapons or have heavily improved armor for extra points.

Probably because then they'd have to rename it and sell it as a completely separate heavier unit. Wait...that's actually accurate for GW...

I would love to have one of these with the fully enclosed cockpit! Also, it sucks that the Imperium doesn't innovate, because the Sentinel could form the base of a devastating vehicle for close range anti infantry/light vehicle combat, preferably urban, forest, or other places with lots of cover. Added armor around joints, and strengthened legs to move with speed despite added weight. Perhaps an extra generator. Armed with two heavy stubbers/heavy bolters, one on each side of cockpit, a small, dumb-fire rocket pod (6 shot) below each of those, and on some models, a pair of lascannons or missile pods in place of the automatic weapons and rockets, and only a single heavy stubber/ bolter. This variant would be meant for tank hunting. Of course, I don't even know if it could even move, let alone fight like I see it doing, with all that weight, it's just a fantasy design I came up with.

If Gulliman can knock some sense into mars he could probably have them build larger variations with better armor and weaponry, maybe Cawl has something like that planned somewhere.
