@@ABorderPrince Almost nothing of the Warhammer universe makes sense beyond the surface level. It's not internally consistent, it's not consistent with nature, it's not theologically consistent, it's not philosophically consistent; basically the only thing that ties it together is the notion that you can take the lore as coming from remembrancers who are at best getting their information second hand. As such, when one book contradicts another, or says something scientifically ignorant, or philosophically or theologically ridiculous it was either a scrivener's error, an errant source, or a fundamental misunderstanding being passed on as fact. That's what makes it so fun. It allows you to have these 2D caricatures of characters like Angron or Lorgar present deeply complex philosophical or theological questions about the very nature of our reality in situations absurd enough to not be preachy, and if that's not your thing you can ignore it and enjoy the grimdark ultraviolence, or the fantastic characters, or the whimsical friendly horror of grandpa Nurgle, or whatever else you want with similar underlying elements and familiar characters but without the need for rigid doctrinal adherence to canon, unless you're into the Adepta Sororitas in which case, canonically dogma away. It's also what allows for the discussion and debate of lore in a way no other universe does.

Having a planet that is reliant on water from other places that can be cut off sounds like an absolute nightmare. Makes ya think about our potential future. Theres probably a ton of planets in the dark imperium that were in immediately cut off from both water and food, a hive world that supplies only soldiers for example. Or even a toxic polluted forge world that you would think could stand for awhile alone with all it's war tech and seeing as how they all maintain there own significant forces and beefy defenses. But those forces wouldnt last long without food or water.

To the geniuses who note that there's no Inquisitorial presence on worlds like Vigilus - yes, they don't often have Inquisitors or their agents just sitting in place watching for threats. That's more the job of standing Imperial forces, like the Adeptus Arbites and PDF. There are a finite number of Inquisitors and there are likely hundreds of thousands of worlds that could be considered critical to the Imperium in some way.

There are lesser ranks within the Inquisition, like Interrogators, that they could have sent. Also, Cadia had it’s own Ordos assigned to it because of its key positioning.
