Rases of Warhammer 40K in M41: Necrons are very strong but there are so few of them that it will probably be fine. When the Necron Awakening starts for real in M42: Why do we hear boss music?

Absolutely. What very little of the galaxy at large is aware of is that while the Necron dynasties IN the galaxy are all waking up in various states of hangover, dementia or madness with their homes in various states of disrepair, having done largely nothing the last 60-ish million years, only to act like petulant manchildren politicians most of the time and fight each other just as if not more than they fight other races... Not all Necrons stayed asleep in the galaxy. The Silent King took the best and most elite of the Empire and left the galaxy... and between then and now when he's running back to get all the other Necrons to stand together against the true scale of the Tyranids, he would have almost 60 MILLION YEARS to improve his and his forces capabilities and technology. Even if only 1/1000th of the time was spent actually improving things due to the weird way that Necrons perceive time, that's still almost 60 Millennia of using all of their knowledge and capabilities to become even stronger. Imagine what the Imperium as it stands now with people like Cawl and Guilliman actually encouraging progress to happen, albeit very slowly, could accomplish in ALMOST 60 MILLENNIA. That would b the minimum equivalent of progress that the Silent King's forces could have realistically gotten done in all the time they've been away. Though for the sake of gameplay balancing, that unfortunately will never happen. But still, IMAGINE.
