A little tip for if you should have to use that drill bit again. Instead of having to go back and forth forever with measuring your depth, put your magnet side by side against the drill bit and apply a strip of masking tape around the bit, using the magnet as the height guide. That way, you can drill just as deep as you need to without having to check constantly.

If you haven't already you should get yourself an activator for the superglue! no point in having to wait around clamping it when you can make it set immediately... you can also experiment with superglue and baking powder it also makes it set immediately but can also be used to fill in small gaps if needed
@madMARTYNmarsh19812 жыл бұрын
I recently got some super glue and activator from my father in law; he installs double glazing and cladding for a living so it's industrial strength stuff. Works out to just over a quid for the glue (50 gram bottle) and a 200ml can of activator. Only problem is it has to be bought in bulk but its still only £15 total for 10 cans of activator and 10 bottles of super glue.

A handy tip for thick super glue, what I will do for storing and using the stuff. What I will do before I use it is I'll loosen the lid squeeze some of the air out and close it up again, then I'll store it lid down before using it so the glue is in the end you want before I use it (this makes a vacuum). Then I'll use what I need and when I'm finished take advantage of the vacuum I made from the first step to draw the glue in the neck back into the bottle and it's ready to put away.

Hey Guy. Far from being a model expert like you, but seeing you hammer that pin in reminded me of the renovation I'm doing and a little tool that might help you. Where I live we call it a nail chaser. It's pretty much a metal spike looking thing with a concave tip on one end. You place the concave part on a nail sticking out, and hammer that sucker in. Helps get that nail flush into the wall so a little bit of putty hides it, but most importantly: it prevents you from leaving hammerhead shaped marks on your wall.

I've had bad luck with gel glue bottles. They're basically already dried out and I find they dry out the rest of the way that much faster. It would be really interesting to know in a couple months if you got more use out of that bottle of gel glue *edit* I've had so many mixed experiences with super glue that I only buy the little 5ml containers of krazy glue. The only exception is when I have a big project (like the warlord titan) and I think I'll use most of it up. Even then I've had bigger bottles fail partway through a big project
@MidwinterMinis2 жыл бұрын
Hopefully the Titan will keep those bottles of glue busy before they dry out!
@captainweekend52762 жыл бұрын
I've found the loctite gel glue bottles never dry out, I think it's just a matter of making sure the cap is airtight, honestly I've found liquid super glues always clog up and become useless way before they dry out.

On the topic of the Deolfs, I was originally going to get one or two of those for my minis, but between the inability to fiddle with their shelves and the utter nonsense that was the building instructions, I ended up going instead for a glass-door version of a Billy bookshelf, switching the shelves out for glass ones so that on the lower levels you can still see what's there from standing height. (also you can add more shelves so I added I think two more shelves than what it came with to give 8 shelves, with adjustable height for my foot tall reaper stuff)

In case you aren't aware, I wasn't for a long time, and I got some degree of training for respirators in case of asbestos, but facial hair disrupts the seal to your face. Of course depends on the size of the particles you're avoiding and the amount, but even the facial hair growing between getting up in the morning and shaving and the afternoon could be enough to disrupt the seal. If you use it a lot for long periods of time, it might be worth it to get a powered respirator hood to be completely safe, also a bit more comfortable :b
