I get why so many people are upset because of that ending and I agree that Jotaro suddenly having Over Heaven ability is kinda lame, but this ending isn't that bad (although I think it would be better if the story was about Jotaro executing Dio's plan himself to evolve his stand). First thing is that Jotaro doesn't win only because of their soul/stand connection so that he has Over Heaven, but because he destroyed Dio's hands with his armlets, if he didn't have it, Dio would have killed him. So that's a smart move. He didn't win only thanks to him having the same stand (like in anime and manga), but also because he outsmarted his opponent using knowlege and resources he aquired from Funny Valentine. Second, thanks to that, Jotaro rewrites reality and we have the perfect ending to the whole series where every character, jobros etc survive, really wholesome ending.
