When the new set drops , I put type in Mardu... and its crazy how it is just the lost color combo so often in standard. Thabks for this

I wouldn't say that it's lost, but more that most people that are building for a variet yof things aren't going to want to do the "controlly" things that Marduleans toward. Also, a lot of stuff is still two-color. And a bunch of the two-color stuff is good outside of probably Izzet.

28:00 Warleader's Call makes the God a 5/5 so 10 from playing epicure and 10 from saccing the Blood Token = 20 damage :P Tried making this work before Thunder Junction released, made a lot of versions that didn't play mono color lands and it often worked surprisingly well. I definitely will have to take a look at it again.

The synergies with artifacts is great. Anim making sacrificial gnomes artifacts is just so good. I think the missing ingredient is Skrelv (cut the Wedding Announcements). Even with this refinement, the combo is too slow for current standard IMHO. Mono Red will burn through you before can drop Ojer 🔥🔥🔥

It's been able to hang with mono red. That hasn't been the issue. The problem is just that Axonil isn't needed. The deck can play more things like Adeline or other token makes and be just as good. Axonil has performed better in shells with more outright damage. I have a list from a week or two ago on the channel that shows the difference. I think Call and Axonil are both fine cards. They just really don't need to be in a deck together. Just a personal preference based on how both have performed fo rme together and separately.

I personally play something like this but I play Get Lost instead of go for the throats. Get lost targets more permanents and they get map tokens which will in turn give me map tokens and trigger Kambal's effect. Also instead of anoxil, I play the four drop uncommon that gives tokens when tokens enter on your side of the field

The point was to play specifically to play Axonil and Call in the same deck for this experiment. Watch the deck update at the end to get my final thoughts where I still don't think they belong together.

I agree with get lost. I already play it in my RW Axonil deck. Was mostly a deck building oversight here while considering possible black cards.

Really like this deck. Always trying to have a good deck with Warleader, may be the one! At least a fun one!

Fun, yes. But I think just focusing on cheaper RW creatures/tokens is the way to go. Don't really need Axonil.

Hadnt thought about putting black in this shell it feels like Warleader's Anvil instead of Warleader's Axonil, but that is a distinction without real difference I suppose. Axonil so often feels like a win more card when I use it. What were some of the losses?

Mostly clumsy stumbling to itself and a long azorius control fight.
