Good news. Statfold is is a really good venue and well worth a visit.

I've never been to one of the gigantic shows, just teeny tiny local ones, and I have always been impressed by the layouts way beyond the £2.50 entry fee.
@LittleWicketRailway6 ай бұрын
Agreed. Smaller is often better in many ways. Which would you recommend?

Norwich Model Rail Club, it's held at Hellesdon High School, about a mile from my house!

Very good news on both counts. Always preferred Warley pre-NEC when they held it at the Harry Mitchell Centre in Smethwick. The Statfold venue will be great! Warners have huge experience of running big shows so that's a win too.

I'm off to Warley...can't beat a "two for the price of one" deal as I have been wanting to visit Statfold Barn for a while.

Statfold is a great venue. Their railway around the grounds is very impressive.

This is great news. My prayers have been answered. I am glad we are getting happier news in the model train field.

Personally I don't attend the 'Big' shows preferring to visit local shows that don't cost an arm & leg to enter. 😊

Hi Rob. That is indeed some good news. Not only is the event closer to me but I am also not attending any of the bigger shows this year. Spending a fairly large sum of money only to be unable to get near any of the layouts in my chair due to the large numbers of people has massively put me off them. There's only so many angry stares you can take in a day when just asking if people mind letting you in. The stares plus the amount of people who climb over me and in front of me caused a great deal of pain. With that in mind I was only going to do the Crewe event this year (I work weekends so have to take holidays to go) but seeing this announcement by you has me wanting to go there as well now 😄 Cheers Rob!
@LittleWicketRailway6 ай бұрын
That's rubbish that people would do that to you. What's the Crewe event like?
@Mav_at_Pwll-Y-Ddraig6 ай бұрын
I've not been yet but a number of people that I know through RGJ Trains have and they said it's very good. Inexpensive, free parking, not too crowded and some very excellent layouts. It's organised by Jason of Barnabas Junction who himself is a top guy! 😊

I will be supporting the Warley one at Statfold as its closer to where i live. Also one of the members might rope me in to help run a layout if he takes his layout.

What a shocka I go to the Cradleyheath Model Railway exhibition as its only down the road. And last year for the first time I went to the great electric train show where I met lots of other youtube Modeller's and some of us agreed to meet up again this year. Now after many years do I miss Cradleyheath or cancell the reunion. Ps I poo down to Warley model club on their open days which is also just down the hill from me. Stephen

I’m still happy I went to Warley when I did. It’s a shame to see them clashing with other shows though with their new venue show :/

Same, I enjoyed my two visits, but Statfold is a great venue choice.

The Milton Keynes show needs a new venue. Tried to go for the first time last year, but couldn't get in and vowed never to return! Hopelessly small arena with bugger all parking. The NEC is obviously a serious venue, but parking at £20 is ludicrous. Hopefully they'll sort that out, and if they do, I'll definitely go along to that one. That all said, I much prefer smaller shows with 8 - 10 - 12 layouts where your money goes to the local club and community hall, and the tea is fresh and there might even be home-made cakes for sale! Room for all types of show in the calendar. Off to Kettering O Gauge show on Saturday - too old to see much small than 'O' these days 🤭

I'll be attending the The National Festival of Railway Modelling at the NEC I think the Warners Group Publication has some big shoes to fill to pull off a National model railway show just like What Warley Did at the NEC after dropping out

I think it clashes with the stafford show and new show in the nec too as it is within a few weeks of each other but it is good news to see a warley show again
@LittleWicketRailway6 ай бұрын
Yeah, people only have so much time and money for these things. Tough choices to be made.

It does not clash with STAFFORD EXHIBITION as that is two weeks earlier 28th & 29th September a week later than Scaleforum which is 21st & 22nd September Hope that helps Terry

Same weekend in God's Own County of Yorkshire, the Wakefield Model Railway Society are holding their show at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School on Northgate, Wakefield where admission is £9 and there is ample free parking. I will be going to Wakefield.

Hi Rob. A well presented video offering a fair and respectful view of the exhibitions. I travelled to Doncaster and was very disappointed as it was too small and busy. Thankfully, I didn't travel to GETS 2023 as the year before was just as bad as Doncaster and hearing about the travel chaos. I am glad I didn't. Statfold Barn will offer a model railway exhibition with real train travel, an experience not to be missed. I've started to upload videos myself and would appreciate a comment and possibly a subscription from yourself. Cheers Steve

Hi, I’ve never been to the Warley show, the Great Electric show is a very good show if you get their at the right time, I found that the secondhand prices of items were very high and the crowds around Pete Watermans layout were really deep, I might give it a miss and go to Warley this year and a few others I haven’t been to before.
@LittleWicketRailway6 ай бұрын
I wonder what the capacity at Warley will be. They might have a problem if everyone who used to attend the NEC decide to go.
@StormmyStormmy6 ай бұрын
@@LittleWicketRailway Why don’t they do a poll on what people think of these shows and how they can be made better, I bet the biggest issue will be price to get in and parking charges, why not find a venue that isn’t so expensive, also the sellers are probably being charged a lot of money just to be there hence the prices wouldn’t be so high for items on sale, I’m sure they can find a venue that isn’t as expensive if they wanted to, a lot more people would attend if the prices were lower, after all we are in a cost of living crisis so why not think about people who haven’t got Swiss bank accounts.

Good news Warley is back on and bad news regarding traders, but for me its not choice its the overall costs of travel, parking and entrance fee as these are heading the same as product prices.

I went to the great electric train show last year and hated it, my son and I struggled to see any of the layouts or the trade stands. We both agreed it was the worst show we had been to, and will not be returning, even though it is close to where we live.

Warley and Great Electric Show are too busy. Support your local/ regional show instead in my view much more relaxed experience not as flashy but had best times at smaller shows in general
