I would have said that a few years ago, but aftermarket parts are so bad now, I prefer to leave the OEM stuff until it fails. ;)

I built an 84 Ranger truck , for myself, 2300 with small 1/2 red rags in the intake ports. I started with starting fluid. It pushed it through. I guess the cat cooked it. Ran well. 😂

I know what it is to be 5"7" with T-Rex arms. I just got done doing an intake reseal job on our 2000 GMC with a 6.0L. I had to really stretch to reach the back corners of the engine. I resealed the valley cover and valve covers. Everything was covered in grime after 24 years and 315K miles. What you and I need are one of those top side creepers.
@JimmyMakingitworkАй бұрын
Man they are handy, still feels hard to breathe after a bit laying on the chest, but at least you can reach without digging the forearm into a bracket of some Sort. :)

One of the things that impressed me about my Toyota is it uses direct injection as well as port injection. It is supposed to reduce the carbon buildup on the back of the valves. Time will tell.
@JimmyMakingitworkАй бұрын
Yeah it is a great idea they had to reduce the carbon build up. Now others are doing it also. :)

Yeah if the fuel trims are good and misfires aren’t counting on a scan tool, it’s probably “normal.”

People. When you take your vehicle to a mechanic then do what they say is needed. You took it to them because either you didn't know how to do the work or you didn't want to do the work. Follow the mechanics advice because they have a moral duty to keep not only you safe on the road but everyone around you. Especially an older mechanic that has been working in the field as long as Jimmy has been. Contrary to popular belief mechanics are not out to rip you off.

Awesome video Jimmy. As the wife of a career mechanic, I watch all of the KZbin mechanics. I really like some of the others (Eric O, Ivan, Sherwood, Jake and Scanner Danner that I can think of at the moment - there are others). I am quite certain they are all great mechanics and the ones I mentioned are wonderful teachers and have really good videos, but none can hold a candle to yours IMHO. You are every bit the mechanic that any of them are and you always show what real world is like. Interruptions, having to switch around on what you are are working on because some "other" car comes in that is "more important" I sat on the couch (old van seat) and watched the going ons at the tiny roadside garage he worked at for so long, that trust me, I know exactly what goes on behind the scenes. (the only part you of course can't actually show are how nutty some customers are) I like real world videos the best and you are the top one for reality. Have a great day! (and yes, I need a place to buy some stickers!)

Hey jimmy, i own a 07 g6 with the 3.5l v6. I had to replace the front seal and didnt want to purchase a new harmonic balancer bolt . Ended up breaking it off when torquing. My question is that i cannot find another bolt online, the part is discontinued. I guess ill have to order one with the same pitch. All i can seem to find is zinc coated and its a smaller bolt head. Think itll be okay? Im real nervous. I cannot find any new bolts anywhere. I found a used one on ebay but they are suppossed to be replaced each time.
@JimmyMakingitworkАй бұрын
I would reuse one from eBay and it should be fine. They are much more critical on the Fords that pinch timing components with that bolt, but the GMs are more forgiving. Use some blue thread lock also. Hope this helps.
@Chilly-uq2zlАй бұрын
@JimmyMakingitwork thanks jimmy!

Chances are if the caliper is hard to compress then you should look at replacing them.
@JimmyMakingitworkАй бұрын
Very true, usually means corrosion inside the casting, chrome deterioration in it etc.
