I love following along with classical scores, and this is probably the first time I've seen a double bass ensemble part in tenor clef. That is really interesting.

I have no idea how many times I've listened to this suite. I think it may be my favorite short suite. (Short in comparison to suites like the nutcracker)

@lachlanhenderson65914 жыл бұрын
@@ricardoh87 it's just A Major with an added B Natural from the viola. I'd probably say however that it would be C#Min7(#5)

@CaptainPhen2 ай бұрын
It's "Aadd2". The "B" on the violas is the 2nd of the chord and it clashes nicely with the 3rd "C#" on the 1st violins. If that "B" was an octave higher it would've been a "Aadd9" chord

I have played this piece at Orchestra firstly on the Second Violin in my early twenties and more recently on the viola. Like the Picardy Third in the first movement and the fourth - both times the viola has the F# and the B Natural, respectively.

@@ethantamales They are one in the same! Check out this video. Together with concert leader Henning Kraggerud, and arguably even beyond him, the lead cellist, Torun Stavseng, absolutely steals the show. Even the second cello is visibly impressed (or perhaps greatly amused) during the Bransles, around 4:50: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZXMk3eBo9Vqg8U

In hs orchestra we did the first movement for competition. Our concertmaster and I were the only ones out of the outside firsts that could do the upper octave. Thankfully, his violin could project well. So all you heard was one or two great sounding upper octave and all these out of tune lower octaves on the first violin part. Lol Hilarious memory. Somehow, we managed to get first place 😂
