I was dreading reviewing Optative, but with the new system I have for reviewing all bias went away. I ended up digging in and leaning to what makes it stands out. I had a LOT of fun with this thing and it's been one of the more surprising weapons I have used. In the video I go go over what to look for and how it shines. Just to shout it out you could also run it with Nezerac's Sin if you want to expand it to any subclass and still get benefits to all your cool downs including your super.

I love the re-issue for this gun, but my only issue is it’s sight. It’s so bulky it takes up much of the ADP sight-line. Otherwise I absolutely love it (But I’m also a big fan of 180’s)

Yes! I have been running it with Demolitionist and Golden Tricorn (both enhanced), and with a Briarbinds build. It's so good for ability spam, and endgame content with constant weakening, volatile, and grenades, all of which feed into my Nova Bomb.

Went for Wellspring and Permeability myself for a strand Hunter. Wellspring keeping that uptime is nice overall for that neutral game for Hunters and keeing the class ability up means more clones and consistent uptime for Permeability.

Demo and Repulsor Brace as left column perks means that this gun is worth two crafts. Those two perks are just so special when they roll in the left column. Demo + Golden Tricorn is the obvious pairing for high add density, high kill volume activities. Demo feeds off volume. Then I made Repulsor Brace + Kill Clip for my Gyrfalcon hunter to use in difficult, lower kill volume activities. Repulsor Brace doesn't need volume, and Kill Clip is strong in environments where 1 kill per reload is common.

My version of this gets grenades back either instantly, or after one kill with Optative. I run Magnetic Grenades with Chaos Accelerant and Controverse Holds. Devour with Feed the Void gets almost the entire grenade back. You can get an additional chunk of grenade energy back with a proper Grenande Kickstart build to almost guarantee your grenade back on hit (guarentee return on kill). Optative with enhanced Demo and enhanced Wellspring ensures you'll get the rest of the way with one kill. I don't even invest in Discipline (25 Discipline, and I tested with 100 Discipline to see a difference and it's minimal). Fun fact: Appetence also rolls with enhanced Demo and enhanced Wellspring. I rock them both for the ultimate ability spam build.

Repulsor Brace Kill Clip is something I'm holding onto as a random drop. Not crafting it that way, but I'll enjoy. But the first option sounds like something I need to try.

Tac mag plus backup mag also hit the break point where 5 gets returned from nano munitions. Giving a bit of extra stat bumps that appended does not.

My Warlock is gonna feast with this, already working on getting the Deepsight patterns for the Undying weapons, and I do enjoy my 180s in PvP, they can snowball pretty hard

Personally, I'd also give a shout-out to Attrition Orbs/Deconstruct. It's not exactly going to be obliterating adds, but the combination of Nano-munitions and Deconstruct keeps it firing for a very long time, and combining that with its high fire-rate relative to its magazine lets it proc Attrition Orbs quite a lot. About one orb per 3 seconds, in fact. That's a lot of orbs without doing anything other than just firing shots with a primary, no kill required. You can then feed that right back into Armor Charge mods like Grenade Kickstart as well as leg mods that grant healing and ability energy, as well as gaining a notable amount of super energy and triggering anything else that works with Orb pickups, like Star-Eater Scales, artifact perks, or Echo of Starvation for Devour. Alternatively, you can funnel it into a Finisher mod to generate tons of super energy or special ammo for your entire fireteam.

As a hunter that feels too vulnerable without repulsor brace and gyrefalcons, I used the Haunted dungeon smg with repulsor brace for forever now. Actually feels good to finally drop that thing for this HC with kill clip. The buffs that hand cannons have gotten finally made it worth it just in time for this Thing to come along. Love it.

Demo + Golden Tricorn is what got me excited to craft this thing. But, I might do Repulsor Brace + Tricorn because I adore Repulsor Brace on the Briarbinds. Free endless Weaken to abuse? Yes please.

I've been using a similar build with it on my void hunter with Mothkeeper's. There's some pretty cool survivability there between the overshields, blinds, and invisibility. Is it the best? Definitely not. But it's still a different kind of playstyle and I'm having some good fun with it in activities like the coil.

I have to disagree with the recommended perks when playing Void Warlock with Verity's Brow. You should run Golden Tricorn enhanced rather than wellspring. You have x2 all the time, and the extra regen from wellspring is not missed at all. For non-void classes demo/wellspring with nezarec's sin.

The sauce is repulsor + golden tricorn. Devour and verity’s will amp your grenades enough. This way you can get a ton of uptime on both repulsor brace and golden tricorn

I really don't care for 180 RPM HC's, but enhanced Demo / enhanced Wellspring has given me an appreciation for them. Nezarec's Sin is my favorite PvE exotic, so this hand cannon was a must for me. When stacked with devour, you can get your 'nade back with 2 - 3 kills. Throwing juiced up vortex 'nades is all I want to do as a warlock; and this HC lets me do that. A lot.

I crafted mine with enhanced permeability and golden tricorn for PvE, cuz it's one of the few weapons that can get permeability with a damage perk. That way I can have 3 stasis or strand weapons and not worry about surge damage mods.

Theres a very old veritys brow build that still works and i used it to get reaper in gambit prime way back then. But all you need is pulse grenades, riskrunner, and veritys brow. Throw a pulse at your feet and it will activate riskrunners exotic perk. Kill everything to keep the perk going and it will feed into veritys brow. Only downside is its not that viable in endgame content but its super fun

Demo/Wellspring is absolutely busted on Void Lucky Pants, you can keep shooting volatile rounds through Out of Luck then insta-reload for another go. Infinite bullets makes it easy keep to everything exploding.

I definitely think all of the weapons that we got this season will find their way into a lot of builds in the future. I personally crafted my Optative with Enhanced Atrition Orbs and Golden Tricorn. Why? Because I thought it would go really well with my Star-Eater Scales Hunter build. I’m also excited to try out my Breakneck roll that dropped with Pugilist and Demolitionist.

My only issue with it is that word of crota exists. I've got 1 with enh dragonfly/destabilizing rounds which is 10/10 on the fun factor, and an adept version with enh demo/adren junkie. I feel like that 2nd roll just outperforms what wellspring can do nowadays

don't underestimate keepaway underover in crucible. i've loved it and kept it rolled as this over the faster ttk on killclip for consistent play in crucible against void titans and warlocks on wells

I feel attrition orb + well spring, maybe the play since armor orb mods were nerfed, and typically you can get 1 orb from the base mag plus 1 additional orb per stack of sub munitions. Mixing leg armor mods and helmet siphon mods and your pooping orbs every. Also this is one of the few weapons with attrition orbs in the 3rd slot not the 4th.

Still say they need to rework the crafting system. So u can have like 3 diff builds on a wep u can swap from or least a pve pvp loadout swap. Instead of having too go craft same weapons multiple times.

I don't know why, but this weapon will absolutely not drop for me. Hundreds of engrams turned in... I have the patterns unlocked for the other undying weapons. It hasn't dropped one time. I had an easier time getting the Onslaught Ros Arago XD

If you like 180s try trust it is great with all the solar artifact perks and with a 5/5 gets 75 base reload then add surplus and explosive payload and you get one of the better feeling 180s in the game. this roll only took 5 gambit resets because we love the new engram changes.

Just got my crafted one 2 days ago and really like the set up, I'm using demo/tricorn, but I just hate the way it feels and the ads. I'm gonna try to keep using it and see if I can come around to it. And for anyone who liked this perk combo of demo/well but hates the gun, Dogma pr6 can get it as well. Farmable from Banshee, the perks aren't enhanced but it is solar so it works really well this season.

anyone tried the setup (for pvp) with max range, hip fire grip and offhand strike, it might still keep the 1 second ttk, but it also hits 38 metres of range, from the hip. might be worth a try 🤷‍♂️

I am trying a crafted Optative with Permability/Enhanced Golden Tricorn with Strandlock/Verity Brow for Threadlings Army build 100 Resilience/Discipline. Unfortunately running double primary with Old Sterling (Discord/Demo) and Crowning Duologue (Demo/Chain Reaction) Weapons allow for never ending grenade energy per kill with Demo. Verity Brow adds more grenade energy with same elemental weapon kills and boosted damage on Optative from Golden Tricorn and after laying down rifts for more Threadlings through Weaver's Call and Mindspun Invocation. Threadling Raid basically. Better if you run another Verity Brow Warlock to add to the fun. Good luck Guardians.

Funny, as a warlock main I rarely main a cannon thats not Sunshot (which almost doesnt count lol), but i just unlocked Word of Crota and built one with destabilizing / repulsor brace. It's the best way to play aggressive and keep an overshield, short of the pinnacle sword. Now I have to try this too.
