Why somedays fingers feel stiff and others not. Noticed for years. I do have a day job for years that use my hands. Also being 65 doesn't help much I assume. Any reason for this? Amazed how you can play all those instruments, reading, making sticks, videos, books, gigs. Amazed by everything. Where do get the time? I guess getting up at 5 am helps and coffee lol.

Thanks, Rick! These exercises are "just what the doctor ordered". My hands and arms are freezing when I get up this time of year.

Thanks, Rick, this is great! I have a question, or request maybe, when you do the full warm-up video, would it be possible to make two versions? One with all for traditional grip drummers and one where you cut out that part for match grip players? Then it is easy to use without needing to jump.

Hi Rick great lesson. Would you use heavy sticks playing if it weren't for cymbals? I find it a lot easier to stay relaxed, play soft and articulate well on the snare and toms with heavy sticks but they sound ordinary on the cymbals. I'm still looking for stick that is a nice compromise. I guess what makes it good for the drum/practice pad (weight in the tip) is what makes it a little harsh on medium/thin cymbals

Hi My drum set stick is 55 grams (maple) and for heavier stuff 65 grams (hickory). The bead is designed in such a way that it sounds good on cymbals no matter the weight. You can see them here kzbin.info/www/bejne/paPSaKhqYq-Hqq8

Hi Rick, Will holding rolls (single stroke) for long periods help with speed? If so how long should I hold rolls and at what bpm? Right now I can hold 16ths for a minute at 165 bpm. I'm trying to get to 200 to 220 bpm. I appreciate any help, I respect your knowledge & playing. Thanks!

I prefer to practice singles with shorter bursts. I will be posting a video about the way I practice my singles tomorrow.
