Unbelievable I've been a commercial fisherman for longer than he has been diving and he never brought up the sewer outfall pipes that pump out billions of gallons a day they were not there 20 years ago the water is brown out to twenty miles and has been for a couple years

I'm used to news people cutting these stories down to a couple of minutes. Thanks for letting him speak, even if you did have to ask him 3 times about change. It is nice to hear from someone so passionate about the location.

The Arctic is already warming twice as fast as the global average and rapidly melting the ice up there as a result. This is slowing down the AMOC, and if it stops altogether, Europe is in for a wild weather ride.
@volkerengels52983 ай бұрын
The speed is 3 to 4 times. Some places around the arctic even 7 times faster than average. The AMOC collapse ist estimated by different scientists between (2025 > (2050) < 2095) IPCC say after 2100. Who knows. IPCC is _conservative...._ It is not Europe alone which is done then -> AMOC collapse is such havoc in terms of food shortage and unimaginable wild weather everywhere. While Europe gets cold and bone dry(!) - Caribbean tends to boiling. Nobody really knows the effects of AMOC collapse under the conditions of global warming. 'Devastating' - is the base.

A very smart man, with a grasp of what is happening in our marine environment better than most fishermen that I work with on a daily basis.

Overfishing used to occur but overfishing has not happened in the last twenty five years along the East Coast Continental Shelf. No recovery to speak of leads one to believe that environmental factors are responsible.

California has marine reserves for a good 10 years. Here’s to getting this figured out and healed.

Climate models predict that as the AMOC slows down we could see a build up of warm water from the Gulf Stream nearer to the New England coast. Are we seeing that now? Sea level rise along the New England coast was also predicted due to the water piling up. I recently saw a report that suggested the ocean is no longer able to absorb most of the additional heat as it has been doing up to now. I recently completed training to become a heat pump coach through Rewiring America. If anyone wants help electrifying their homes, their lives, hit me up. It’s free!

What about those alkali water we drank…so good for us. Will they benefit the fishes too. Maybe that will prevent certain sickness for them too.

In the Carboniferous period there was 200 times more CO2 in the atmosphere than now, life was never more abundant.
@gregleavitt12553 ай бұрын
Ahh, but no human life. The past repeats (peat pun intended). Life will be here in the future, sometimes abundant and sometimes not. But we won't be here. Monty Python: "And there was much rejoicing. Yay."

They could listen to Antonio Guterres as well - and don't need no physics.. :)) **"We are on a highway to hell!"** - think is understandable. *Who* needs to 'know' more? Guterres is not a clown - but Secretary General of the UN. Something similar he says each year.

Temps get warm and temps get cold its called circle of life. Adapt or die
@mrtchadd3 ай бұрын
That's what these people are doing, trying to adapt.
@RichRich19553 ай бұрын
Getting warmer now not colder. Don't expect any global cooling unless there's nuclear war or a huge volcano eruption
@volkerengels52983 ай бұрын
In the tropics temps remain almost the same throughout the year. It is much life there. You do you wise - but are not. It depends on the **speed of change** -> the faster -> the less will be able to adapt. *"This is the fastest Climate Change in earth history." IPCC 2019 Special report."* You may think yourself....

The Climate is always changing, Funny a week ago it was announced that the Atlantic (North Atlantic) is Colder than normal?
@talesfromtheleashexpatdogl14263 ай бұрын
Of course it's always changing but history has shown us dramatic changes aren't sustainable with life and that's what is occurring now.
@RichRich19553 ай бұрын
Probably misinformation. Sea surface temperatures have been record warm across the North Atlantic Ocean since March 2023
@RichRich19553 ай бұрын
Climate has always changed but added greenhouse gases only mean there's more heat trapped in the atmosphere. Most of the heat is absorbed by the oceans as water is a heat absorber.

They're putting up large renewable energy projects. How long will it be before people will realize that it isn't reducing carbon emissions. They measure co2 and it continues to increase. In a few years maybe it will stop increasing then people will say, there is hope but to actually get to net zero is too unobtainable. If they cut it in half I'd be amazed. People don't want to sacrifice their lifestyles.
