I've done a lot of wiring at work. This guy is very thorough. Most of the time I didn't heat both sides of the heat shrink. I don't own a heat gun. I'll try a hair blower instead. If that doesn't work I'll use a flame. Where did the "glue" come from? If I am going to do this I'll use a grounded power cord plug to my outdoor wall GCFI outlet.

Hi Chris, thank you for the kind words! I'll be sure to let our Tech Team lead know. The glue is actually inside of the shrink wrap - you can purchase it like that so it's easier to insure a firm bond between the two halves of the wire. Thanks for watching!

What do you have at the end of the cable? Is it a loop?

Hi Steve, this video shows a Power Connection Kit. I'm not sure which part you're referring to as a "loop", so please feel free to look at the product page for this to check what each part is for this step: www.warmlyyours.com/en-US/products/code/SR-PWR-KIT

To ensure you don't cut to deep, split the outer jacket first peal it back to 7 inches then cut it off.

Hello Scott. Is it OK to also ground the box to the line/heat cable?

+troy alwine Hello Troy. Regarding grounding a junction box, we recommend you verify this with your local electrical inspector or authority having jurisdiction. We recommend to ground the system like described in the video. Regards, WarmlyYours Technical Support.

Seems to me that you would assemble the water-tight compression fitting and screw it into junction box before making the connections to NM cable to eliminate the twisting issues from rotating the connector into box, which the video conveniently omitted. 🙁

Thanks for pointing that out, we have added that info to the description to make things clearer. But that the installation instructions make this distinction which you'd be following rather than the video to do the actual install.

The instructions are very good but why not do all the cutting and heat shrinking at the manufacturer?

Well this product can be cut to length if it's a self-regulating cable and would need to be connected to the power source only after it's been trimmed to the length needed. You can learn more about them here: www.warmlyyours.com/products/line/roof-and-gutter-deicing-self-regulating-cut-to-length-cable
